On the contrary, you're very stupid. Long before they started this local production agenda, imported cements were quite cheap and affordable in the 90s

Perhaps the younger generation should sit back
Cement started climbing at 70 Naira need. From 70 Naira to 100 Naira, to 110 Naira to 200 Naira, and to 200 Naira, then before 500 Naira

And we were importing.

Sorry. Go mark it down someone said it. That Nigeria has to disintegrate to move forward.

Same way 2000/2001 I was crying that Obasanjo granting Dangote all he did then won't make him have competition and would have severe problems for the country back then even when almost only few people saw it is now playing before our eyes.

I'm saying it again by virtue of my depending knowledge of internal information, that Nigeria has to disintegrate to become optimally functional
The truth is Nigeria won't disintegrate, cause at the back of our minds we know we can't stand alone..
We think each Tribe has one mind within themselves but the truth is na lie,we are soo divided even amongst ourselves
If Nigeria should dare disintegrate, the gap between the Rich and the Poor would seem like the distance between Heaven and hell

Following our fights on your CBD thread about this. I'm glad you finally took it up, did your research and you're now seeing the light.

I passed a memo yesterday following an information I came across. I hope you are looking into that aswell

Shell Petroleum is out with an exclusive information..

It's a clause within the PIB Bill that is aimed at granting Dangote the sole right to export crude out of the Country... Imagine. Time for another protest Nigerians. Spread the word.

Post this information on your timeline across all your social media handles to sensitive and inform people........ Let's kill this bill before it sees the light of the day..

The size of the economy doesn't matter. Cement price is selling for between 1,500 and 1,900 in South Africa, which is a large economy like Nigeria.
How much is corporate tax in south Africa and is their power situation the same with Nigeria, were all factories uses generators?

But your Government has failed to live up to its responsibilities.

That's why individuals wile powers that should belong to the federation.

Let me digress a bit. Do you know that it is unconstitutional and illegal for individuals to own oil blocks. By the constitution of Nigeria, this very one we run now, it is an illegality. Yet we have individuals who we all celebrate, officially registered as Oil Block owners. No one is saying anything about that.
As a matter of fact, if you were to be given that opportunity, the knowledge that it is an illegality will not stop you. So wat exactly are saying.

That it is not right for an individual to take advantage of lapses that put him in prime position to benefit himself?

Please, we are just barking up the wrong tree.
That is why I said the solution is sensitization against bad government cause it all boils down to it,let us start now,2023 is around the corner, same way Pastors bring up candidates to the Pulpit to say, vote for this person, not considering if he is good or bad,let us also evaluate the next running candidates now and say, this is a promising man, people, come out and vote for this man,let NL and other sites push it up once a week, this is the only solution to our problems and when it is time to vote, let us vote all these thieves out.

That's because the currency was devaluing. If you compared those prices to dollars, it was cheap. Now, Nigerian cement prices are exorbitant, even in dollars or any foreign currency. 4,000 naira is around $10 or 717 Indian rupees. But look at cement prices in India -- only 320 rupees or 1800 naira.

All backed by strong stock market funds generation. Plus, Nigeria was/is been used as Base to raise funds to keep those companies away from Nigeria functional while Nigeria is used as the sacrifice to raise funds to balance the sheets while they maintain normal in their overseas operations. That's what Dangote does

It's not just cheap in Zambia, it is in other African countries he setup cause he uses Nigeria to raise funds and use foreign country to buy clout and look legit

I've studied him extensively to know this

The cement industry doesn't use generators. Dangote has his own power plants, which means he gets his electricity at less than its cost of production (because of the synergies between cement production and electricity generation).

I hope you are aware that there's a law that repels/prohibits independent power generation once it exceeds 1MW. If we were been honest, how come are some organizations rising up going around this to produce as much power as they desire
.. I'm not anti progressive but I know a 1/5MW Turbine would produce relatively cheap power to produce virtually anything.

Well, Dangote is now producing more electricity than the Nigerian government. I read somewhere that the private sector is producing 18,000 MW for their own consumption. The national grid is only 5,000 MW

cool U see, u are stylishly stammering. U say Dangote control 60% of market shares? Then there is no better way to ruin him, than competitors lowering prices. It happened to Gala. Nothing stops the rest from producing a formidable front against him, Many of them were in the business b4 him. But u see, they are enjoyihg it.

It's every obvious you failed economics in WAEC. If not, you should know that, whoever controls the lion share in a market determines the price.
Those competitors don't have the market share to be able toe call the shots. Even if they did, they don't have the volumes to keep up.
If you are good observer, which i doubt. You'll notice that whenever Dangote invest in a new project, he likes to build so massively to the extent it can satisfy up to 80% of the country demands, you know why? Because he wants to call the shots, determine the price, he makes it so massive that future competitors won't be able to get any significant market share. That's why US has warned Nigeria about Dangote's economic malpractices.

Cement is a undifferentiated product. Dangote would win any price war because he has deeper pockets. The only solution is to bring more companies into the industry or allow imports. Stop reasoning like a monkey.
cool I told u earlier that u were stuttering! Its merely ur argument i am shadow-boxing. U said 6bags of every 10bags out there in the market is Dangote, so, he could slap any price on it, right? so, i say, must the rest 4bags tow Dangotes price? i wasnt talking about price war. I mean sales at reasonable price and before long, Few people will desire to buy his 6bags, out of disgust for the gulf in prices btw the 6 and the 4. Leaving him only one option. equalization of price.

Let's face the reality, many factors comes into play in the production industry.
lets compare Zambia to Nigria in terms of
Economic growth
Government policies & tax
Dollar exchange rate
Source of raw materials
Market competivenes
Manpower & Technology
Security, Power etc.
A company that has its factory in two different country ( lets say Nigeria & Benin Republic) will not sell a particular product the same price in both country even if they are neighbors.
Note; the value of the country local currency plays a major role that's were inflation comes into play.
I Dont understand...... Is he not among those DAT kept dis country like dis ?

You are trying hard to sound brilliant. So Dangote happens to determine price for cement because he controls the largest price? Who thought you this economics? Does MTN being the largest network in Nigeria control prices? Or Glo and Airtel dont come with competitive rates. Your foolishness is trying to say Toyota controls market prices of cars cos it has the largest share of the market

Your economics teacher should be killed

It's obvious you aren't brilliant either. First of all, MTN leads the market but it's not dominant, hence that's why it doesn't seem to control the market prices. Secondly as idiotic as NCC may be under this regime, they've managed to control and regulate the telecom industry. That's why MTN or Glo no fit try rubbish. They'll just fine them with 1 million dollars.
If that sort of regulation that's in the telecom industry is what it is in Cement industry, I'm certain Dangote won't be this emboldened to try rubbish

Dangote is not donating to politicians there or to the two major political parties in that country as he does in Nigeria. Someone has to pay after all.

His business there probably run on public electricity supply, thereby reducing his costs unlike Nigeria where he probably has to bribe electricity distribution companies and has to have standby generator sets.

Less cost of production will lead automatically to lower prices of goods.

The question you should ask is if he is producing cement in Zambia before you make your analysis.

cool Incidentally i did rather well in economics. My surprise is how well u ignore the atavistic urge in a man resenting cheating. As u say, Dangote account for 80% of supply. is that justification for the 20% to sell way way beyond cost price? If they sell at normal price, soon, those patronizing the 80% will get to know, which will jeopadize sales for Dangote. At any rate 20% still makes profit, so whats the justification for towing 80%?

Dangote Nigeria isn’t a charity, I could say he’s one of the largest employer of labor in Nigeria, how do you think he sustains that?

None of the campaigners will answer this question, it is a targeted campaign against the person of Dangote. BUA, Larfarge, Ibeto etc still sells at the same price but Dangote is the demon lol. If Larfarge and others aren't thieves too they should crash price and watch Dangote crash in the cement industry but no they won't they'll rather pay influencers to push narratives against their competitors.
