The new mum and baby gets the bed.
You might have to get extra small mattress for your mum in law, A new mum or an elderly person can't sleep on the floor.

My wife just gave birth. My mother would be coming to stay with us and my mother in-law will be around for few days. I live in a 2bed room apartment. How should I allocate the space without causing trouble? Though I have a very big sitting room with extra mattress. Advice needed please!

Normally you are expected to sleep on any part of the apartment so that your mother inlaw can have time for her daughter and her grand child

There are times your baby will wake up at a wrong time and your wife may have been tired, your mother inlaw already knows what to do without even involving you

Just give them your room and sort yourself out

She won't be there forever

Where will baby sleep? Its better if mum and baby are together, in this case mum baby and MIL.

You might have to sleep in the parlor since there's only a bedroom available. The extra foam goes to the room for MIL.

Both mother's can share the guest room, can't they?

Allocate the guestroom to your mom. Your wife and her mom (your mother in-law) will be fine in the main bedroom. You're the man, so find solace in the sitting room.

Case settled.

This is a sensitive arrangement. Don't you think op's mother would be upset if she is relegated to the guest room? The wife's mum might feel the same way too if she is assigned to the guest room. However, if both women are settled in the the guest room, they can take turns to nurse the new mum.

You're not serious. Both mothers should sleep in the guest bedroom together. What are you saying sef?

Both women can't settle in the guest room as someone needs to breastfeed the baby. An alternative plan would be to assign the guest room to the MILs. The wife and her hubby can take care of the baby throughout the night. In the morning, MILs can resume babysitting duties.

That is what I just said. Both mothers in the guest room at night and during the day, they run shifts.
