My wife just gave birth. My mother would be coming to stay with us and my mother in-law will be around for few days. I live in a 2bed room apartment. How should I allocate the space without causing trouble? Though I have a very big sitting room with extra mattress. Advice needed please!

Allocate the guestroom to your mom. Your wife and her mom (your mother in-law) will be fine in the main bedroom. You're the man, so find solace in the sitting room.

Case settled.

Am grateful to you both. Pls, my master bedroom can't accommodate another mattress & 4 1|2bed won't be enough for my wife & mother in-law together with the baby. Thanks

Let the two mamas sleep together in the guest room. You can occupy the sitting room and wify and baby uses the master's bedroom. It's just few hours for night nau.

May good and wonderful events continue to happen in ur life.

All of them should sleep in the same room, extra foam should be placed on the floor for them.
Both should chose who will sleep on the bed or on the foam on the floor.
They came for omogor, so they should sleep with the baby,
While you cruze on your bed.

First of all why is your mum coming same time her mum is coming? Couldn't you people have planned yourself properly? If your wife just put to birth, it's her mum that's supposed to come and take care of her. What's your mum coming to do NOW? Can't she come later? That's how you people put your families at log ahead.

Anyway, here's my take:

Take acidosis' advice. sleep in the sitting room. Why do you need two mattresses in Your MBR? Your wife and her mum will sleep in the same bed you and your wife share, and the baby will be in the baby's cot with them in same room. So your wife can keep an eye on him/her.

Your mum takes the guest room, you the sitting room.

I hope both families and mothers are super nice and reasonable people, otherwise, no matter the arrangement you choose, someone will not be happy.

Both of them share the guest room.

You stay with your wife in your room. Nigerians should stop outsourcing the care of their kids to grandmothers. Stay and bond with your child in the room

Huh!!! and this had to come on NL undecided

Ok here we go cool

You - Sleep in the living room
Your mum - Sleeps in the guest room
You MIL, Wife and baby - Sleeps in the master bedroom

See how simple as ABC the allocation was done grin

PS: There is nothing wrong in both mother's coming at the same time as that will make the workload lighter. After all, they are both coming to see their grandchild and enjoy you and your wife's company. Hence try not to stop them from coming together grin.

You and your wife should stay in your room. Your mum and mum inlaw can stay in the guest room.

Your baby should stay with both of you in your room. Advise your wife to put the baby in his or her own bed from day one while both of you sleep in your bed.

I don't see why you should leave your room when there's a guest room.

I'm not married though... But I think this omugwo of a thing should be rotated among the mothers, it's not too good for them to come at the same time. Like if you hv the first child, ur MIL shd cm alone, second child ur own mother comes for the omugwo.

My take...

I guess its different cultures of the worl am zimbabwean, its taboo for a mother in law or even your own mother to sleep on the bed/room you share with yo wife

Wife and husband in there bedroom, the mothers share the guest room, If mother in law sleeps in the bedroom it would hard for her to walk to bathroom during the night, son in law is sleeping, if husband’s mother sleeps in the living room it might create a case of favourism why mother in law has the guess house.

None of the two mothers cant complain of favourism if they share the guest house and none should cry for personal space as the house has less rooms to accordate each in their own private rooms

In my culture the 1st child is usually born at the wife’s home, i guess the idea is to avoid such scenario,

On the 2nd child usually the wife would have enough exprience to manage on her own or a younger sister or cousin would come to help her

I don't understand why my mum or mother inlaw will sleep on my matrimonial bed. Personally I don't fancy it.

There's a guest room, let both mother's stay there, you and your wife and child stay in your room.

Not a good idea to have three women under the same roof with limited spaces at the same time. If you can, reschedule their time of visiting.

That said, let both grannies share the second room or just let them sort their sleeping arrangement out by themselves.

Let your mom have the master bedroom, your mother in law the other bedroom, your wife and kid the sitting room and you can manage the bathroom or toilet.

Your choice. grin

Is the guest room big enough for the baby your wife and, your MIL? They can move there while your mum uses the smaller beg in the master bedroom. You. And stay in the palour and use the convenience in the master bedroom when you need to.

Exactly my point. He shouldn't leave his matrimonial bed for any of them. They can use the guest room.

Is there any reason why her mum needs to stay in the room with her?

My husband and I slept in the same room with our baby from the first day. Grandma slept in another room

The new mum and baby gets the bed.
You might have to get extra small mattress for your mum in law, A new mum or an elderly person can't sleep on the floor.
