Oh ye god of pattern of play identification, I ask you what pattern of play did you notice in our most recent match by our opposition Brighton and Granada?

A harmless question, yet you turn in to your outright unexplainable seat of defense.

Where did I say they are the standards?

Oya I change the question to a madrid team that is your standard, yet you could only say a Marcelo and Ronaldo quick attacking play. grin grin
Wetin shaw and rashy dey do for the LW? grin

Oga tell us how we have the worse defence et midfield in the league, abi e don choke you??!! grin grin grin

Since Maguire made his debut, Liverpool has won the league, City are well on their way to winning it and all domestic and international cup competitions have been won by teams not named MANCHESTER UNITED...

First of all, I have probably said this several times, but let me say it one more time. I am a Manchester United fan, not an Ole fan. The fact that I don’t Criticize Ole needlessly or call him demeaning names or use #killthebastard or blame him for things that are not his fault or insult when Fred loses the ball or when Rashford runs into traffic time and time again doesn’t mean I am an Ole fanboy. Unlike some people, I just understand that there are some things Ole can be blamed for and there are somethings that are not his fault at all. You guys have a tendency to deflect questions by tagging people as Ole fanboys. I believe that is just a defence mechanism by you guys. The way you guys use. That term “Ole fanboy or the more annoying Olesexual”, it’s as if daring to support the manager of one’s team makes ones opinion automatically faulty.

Is this what pattern of play means to you? If this is your definition of pattern of play, then I can also tell you United’s pattern of play.

A team’s pattern of play depends on the players available. When Madrid had fast attackers and fullbacks, they employed a devastating counterattacking tactic, always looking to hurt opponents on the break, this is similar to what Ole wants to do with United. We look to win the ball in midfield and quickly hit the opponent on the break but since this is the Epl where most teams wouldn’t even push enough bodies forward to leave spaces for counterattacking to be a major tactic, we have begun to look to control the game more by pressing high up the field and pinning the opponent to their half. The problem with us is that our players do not move the ball quickly enough sometimes, or there is not enough movement by the players to open up passing lanes and when the midfielders become frustrated by the lack of passing options, they just pass sideways or try to force a forward pass and they end up losing the ball. Our problem is not lack of a pattern but inability to execute that pattern effectively multiple times. I believe with more work on the training ground, the team will get better but this season has been so tough that the players barely get time to train. How can they train properly when they play every 3 days? Those boys mostly just do recovery work and prepare for the next game. They barely have time to work properly on the training ground or else they will be fatigued before the match day.

There it goes again, trying to discredit an opinion by calling people Ole supporters as if that is an inexcusable crime. Not everything is black or white Herr Patrick. Sometimes you have to put hate for Ole aside and view things from a different perspective. Not every post that tries to show you that you are wrong about Ole is defending him. Sometimes, you are just wrong

Next season we will still play 2-3 games weekly so, I don't know when we will have time to learn the basics as a team...

Passing and movements are what make the pattern of other great teams obvious and that's mostly down to proper coaching...If our players are not doi g what is expected, how then do you allude to the fact that we are playing whatever pattern...It's like saying a team is playing possession football yet they hardly ever keep the ball because their players keep losing it...It only becomes possession football when they keep the ball well even under pressure...

I watched Madrid vs Liverpool, they employed a possession approach to beat the press of Liverpool and in other instances they opted for counter attack and at all times, they were well placed to execute whichever method they choose thanks to their midfield that controlled the pace of the game and their attackers who used their positioning (Benzema) and pace (Vicinius) to good effect.

If we play a possession game as you suggested, what percentage of possession do we have in the opposition half? How many goal scoring chances do we create?

Having said that, your argument is sound...

Cameo appearances go a long way in improving players performances on the pitch. Doesn’t have to be 90 mins at a go.

10 mins. 15 mins. 25 mins.

How was Greenwood eased into the first team? And the EPL?
Greenwood performed in some of those cameo performance and when he was started can same be said for Van de Beek. Ole would have given him more time, if he shows his class both in training and on the field.

You can imagine, because Liverpool have won the league and City's on course to win it now makes our defending, midfield play and attack among the worst in the league.

Even with red card too.

But even if we win our 2 games on City we will still be 8 points behind. We've allowed City gain too much ground over us

Yet we are Second in the league and it is based on individual Performance.
I will always repeat this. Ole might not be the best coach in terms of tactics but he has not failed in his duties which is to consistently ensure Man Utd qualified for the Champions League and keep us in the hunt for trophies which is very important.
With Van Gaal, Moyes and even Mourinho. We were not consistently in the top 4.
Ole will only be sacked when it is obvious we can't qualified for champions league football. As winning the league is not the no 1 criteria for him.

We have had too many important players off form this season to maintain the high level needed. Immediately City stepped hard on the gas we couldn't keep up.

Just adding Martial and Greenwood's scoring form of last season would have kept us in the race.

When you watch Manchester City and Liverpool, isn't it obvious that their respective coaches have left their imprints on their play? I am using City and Liverpool because they're the standard going by their performances and achievements in recent seasons.

What is the position of Liverpool?

There was a pass he gave Pogba that Pogba (after struggling with 2-3 opponents and losing out) just shook his head like "but i no steal this guy babe nau".

Pogba was also a problem. He turned turned ball back or around or many leg overs while everyone was thinking forward.

The lack of tactics in that particular match was there, but the players had many concentration issues. Many times, games after international break are hard for big teams whose players were very active in the period. The small.teams have their players resting

In Pep's very first match as coach of City against Arsenal in a friendly, I could see that his intent on their play, the 2 CBs split when the goal keeper has the ball and the CDM drops back with the two fullbacks pushing higher up the pitch. I watched and took note of Pep already imposing his style in just his first match albeit a friendly...In that first season, you could see what he set out to do even though the personnel were poor and that alone is enough encouragement to give him the players he ask for.

It's the same with Klopp at Liverpool, from the get-go, you see what they're on about but with Ole here, its been 2 and a half years yet I don't seem to understand how exactly he wants the team to play, our defending is poor, our midfield play is poor (You can blame the players but then what have we seen to suggest there's something they're trying out?), our attack is also poor...At this rate, even if we get all our summer targets, I still don't see us winning the league with Ole.

Man City finished in the semi final before Pep inherited that squad. They had won the league not too long.

The United team needed a longer time of rework than City and Liverpool

Doc this your take is too rational so I'm not having it. Amaka is totally to blame cos he personally caused all those players to lose form when we needed them the most. That man must go, sack the bastard now.

I was not even analyzing the match or indicting AWB's general play. I just noticed 2-3 passes that AWB gave to Pogba after the yellow card that put Pogba in trouble.

Ole fan boys will defend him even if we get relegated...

When Madrid had Ronaldo alongside a younger Marcelo and a fit Carvajal, they played a fast pace direct football using their wings to devastating effect...

Now, with Ronaldo gone and Marcelo old, they rely more on their midfield to control possession and hurt their opponents...

Come to United and you don't know what exactly Ole is trying to do, we can't defend, our midfield play is one of the worst in the league and in attack, there's nothing to write home about but no, let's defend Ole like we are programed to do so...Una go tire.

Last season, you guys spent the whole of it arguing we should play like Liverpool using the full backs to attack. This season it is Madrid and City.

We have our unique players and the pattern has to be drawn to suit. Not trying to do what a team above us in the league is doing.

We need Harry Kane for next Season. We don't need Haaland but Harry Kane. Board should not extend Cavani's Contract, let him go. Let Mata and Matic go as well. Sell off Martial and free up wages, then add Harry Kane, solid DM and RW to the Squad.

If Pogba wants to leave, let him go, but must be replaced with a world class CDM/CM.

His legs are slowing already at 27 as noted by Scholes. He is already dropping deep to compensate for a drop in speed.
