Because I went to a salon to fix my hair for 500naira in Nigeria, the equivalent in the USA is 9,800naira which is $20. Does that make naira has more value than usd? Wahala dey for who no wise. Localordinary:Decades of high inflation devalued the new cedi, so that in 2007 the largest of the "new cedi" banknotes, the 20,000 note, had a value of about US$2. The new cedi was gradually phased out in 2007 in favor of the "Ghana cedi" at an exchange rate of 1:10,000. By removing four digits, the Ghana cedi became the highest-denominated currency unit issued in Africa. It has since fallen to about 20% of its original purchasing power when the currency was redenominated. source wikipedia |

Thank you very much for this detailed analysis. The clear difference between an average Nigerian and a Ghanaian is patriotism. Nigerians are always very good to lament the negative side of our country everywhere. It is understandable for a Nigerian who is leaving the country for the first time and coming to a country like Ghana with stable electricity to see it as an Eldorado. When you stay longer in the country and start thinking and seeing beyond electricity, then you will appreciate Nigeria better in some ways. Trust me, Ghanaians will frustrate your life if you own a business as a foreigner especially as a Nigerian. They abhor competition and will systematically ostracise your business through the people and government agencies. Representing my employer in the country for the last 3 years has really opened my eyes to the mindset of average Ghanaians. In fact, I don't bother to relate with them anymore other than business meetings. I wish the OP all the best. abnot: |

Thanks for your response. I'm not the one coming there. A friend is in Ghana he said the land borders haven't been opened but that people go through the back door. I wanted to know if it's true, hence my reason for asking if you went by road or air. And again I would want to ask if Lagos to Ghana is a days journey? |
