Basic problem is that the NUC takes its time before accrediting courses...plus, let's be honest why would a university admit students for an unaccredited course?

Don't blame the students...

The University I attended had a Course in their brochure,..I applied the Course but I was lucky to have someone there who told me they don't offer that course.

Nonetheless, I insisted until the person warned me sternly. You will be surprised that truly the school doesn't offer the Course and it remained in the UTME brochure until my final year when they started it.

PS: Na Federal University oooo.

It happens in many schools as we speak and it is strictly the fault of the Vice Chancellors.

When my younger sister wanted to study in same school...her course was still in the brochure, I warned her that it wasn't accredited, yet it was in the UTME brochure.

It is a combined failure of the VCs, UTME & Education Ministry.

The VC is not inhumane neither is she stupid. She is only trying to correct what will befall on the said department in future to avoid them coming back to abuse her. Its unfortunate that these students jammed the new improvement that is about to take off. She will succeed in making it right because she is more better than buhari in everywhere. The good idea and change she is bringing in most affect something and it is human beings and not animals. I pray she consider these ones but the change must take effect!

A typical reaction from a typical Nigerian. Can you try to imagine what will be the fate of such students should the graduate from departments that lack accreditation? I know someone with similar experience. He is not able to go for NYSC and who will employ him since his higher education has not been validated? It's is painful but that is the right thing to do in the students' best interest. Nigerians like you should stop eing driven by emotions and jumping into conclusions without properly understanding the prevailing circumstances. It's the hallmark of mental underdevelopement

Why will the former VC admit students for courses not accredited? And if the current VC allow them to graduate will their certificate be accepted ? And will the NYSC recognise them cos officially such courses started existing 2 years ago in that institution ,that is the questions we all need to ask not abusing the current VC .

No, most Nigerians won't see it in that perspective. We like being too emotional. It's the right but painful thing to do.

Which is why you should always ask questions, there are forums where these questions can be asked, even abroad you can't just apply for a course and sit in the comfort of your home doing nothing, get to know more about what you're heading into, I didn't do much research this year on the course I applied for because I didn't even care about admission anymore but now that I really want it I do some research.

The students can only remain stagnant in their current levels until the departments are accredited before they graduate. I am speaking from experience
