Age Shrinking is Allowed!

Or isn't that what these firms want??

At the End, they will have 75 years old staffs still working while having like 20 years more to retire!

Nigerians wants liars

it doesn't pay to be truthful in this country....

Rubbish talk. that's why you couldn't garner any LIKES.

once the person is tested and can do the task, he gets the job! what have those within the age brackets done to savor our country industrially?

They even have to forge their ages certs and the rest to fit in. Oga! you speak like a Non Nigerian, Walahi!!!
You are on point - how come Trump even in his 70s still became a President and despite his rhetorics and short comings, still ran the country well?

It is more prevalent because there is close to non-existence of labour rights regulation. That is heavy casualisation of labour in the banking industry. This led by the like of GTB, STanbic, and a number of other banks in Nigeria. The system is sustained by the practise of the bank directors by floating HR practice. They transfer the salaries of the so called contract staff to these HR companies; cut their own fees running into millions of naira monthly.
the point is that it is low iq on the part of the so called "bank management" who are too dull to understand that hiv is not airborne - it annoys me just thinking about this. i also heard people are denied employment if they have hepatitis - again this is not airborne and poses no danger to office workers - it begs the question - what is wrong with the black man?? even few days ago i overheard a boss telling the employee "I am the person paying you, why will i call you on the phone and you are not picking - are you drunk?"like wtf.

in nigeria there are more people than the resources required to cater for them than in the US this why Nigeria is always in debt

It's like you didn't have advisers.
There are certain risks that shouldn't be taken in this part of the world. You could have influenced your posting in the navy or get enough people in your network before leaving the job.
I still believe you'll make it big though.

I am sure you must have come about this on many recruitment/vacancy requirements. What's the fate of those hardworking fellows who are over 30.

What's the fate of those hardworking fellows who were not fortunate enough to gain admission early or was caught up in a low pace education system as a result of incessant strikes.

I am surprised that you are finding it hard to find job o. Because your case is quite different from a guy that has no work experience. Your experience in the navy should count for something na. Well maybe you need to rely more on networking instead of applying. Start sending your CV to ogas in companies you like and include a cover letter highlighting the strength of your naval experience.

On the other hand I understand why they will be afraid of hiring a 36 year old former naval guy to be an entry level staff. You fit go discipline one small boy wey dey call himself your oga grin cheesy

TGM2015:
The first reason is to reduce number of applications as the labour market is saturated. Imagine getting millions of applications for an opening of less than 50. Some companies have gone further by stating year of graduation. You will see something like should have graduate not later than 2015.

Second reason is that, it is easier to blend young graduates to the culture and requirements of the job than older graduates. Like professionally brainwashing them to act/work in a particular way. It is very difficult to do that with someone with over 5 years life/work experience after graduation.

Third reasons is that, it is believed that the younger an entry level employee is, the more years he or she has to serve the company.

The good news now is that over the years the business world has now discovered that those philosophies of recruitment are not given the desire outcomes. In few years to come, companies, especially those international companies, will not be restricting recruitment by age. They have discovered that the older graduates are more loyal and experienced, and that they tend to give longer years of serving than the young graduates that statistics has shown to have an average of 2 years of service per company.
To hell with their stupid research. When someone is good at the job, he/she is good at it. As simple as that.

You made a very big mistake leaving the navy.Just because you are chartered does not mean anything.Don't go to the private sector! Trust me it is far too worse.
It is like you downgraded honestly.Look for federal jobs like customs ,FIRS etc.

Why didn't you wait to get another job before resigning from your job with the navy? angry

the unenlightened black man is too dull to understand this. Stanbic ibtc conducts hiv test as a condition to hire - hiv is not infectious - it does not infect anyone in any office. the mind of the black man is the most evil and the most wicked - only in black africa are hiv tests conducted as a condition for employment in a non clinical setting.

Standard Chartered Nigeria Limited too conducts hiv tests - interestingly Standard Chartered Plc headquartered in London - it is against their policy to conduct hiv tests - but their nigerian franchise (Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Limited) headed by blacks with their backward thinking enacted hiv testing as a condition of employment.
It will surprise you the health insurance and challenges the company could face in employing someone with HIV.

Firstly, the stress of a banking job isn't ideal for a person with HIV. Secondly, how much time will they give this person off? The ARVs can be harsh on the body, who will pay for this? The innocent bank for employing them? Etc, etc.

It doesn't justify discrimination, but it is a possible reason why they wouldn't want to employ persons with HIV in a stressful job.

Good point, but they have places and industries for people to work. Which industries do Nigerians have? What infrastructure? Which jobs? They prefer to run skeletal crews and increase profits, so who will employ all the unemployed? Is it the one man businesses that will employ the millions of unemployed?

Nigeria labor is largely unregulated, unfortunately.

There are certain factors that determine the availability of employment. Sometimes employers are quite stupid, and sometimes, they can't help it.

Stress has no correlation with hiv.... if it did foreign banks throughout Europe and the Americas would be conducting hiv tests....

Second there is no health insurance challenge.... I hv health insurance and the insurance company didn't conduct any hiv test on me because hiv is not a big deal....

Stress has a correlation with HIV.

Working hours are different.

Even if they don't conduct the test, a person with HIV would need better care than 7-8 every day. If it is stressful to people without it, is it people with HIV that will find it a walk in the park? And if Nigerian Banks don't want them, they know why better than you.

Some health insurance won't accept you if you have incurable or grave conditions. They will not test you, but when they find out is a different thing. How many times will a person with HIV go to the hospital?

No you have it all mixed up.... New York and London are the financial capitals of the world and the hundreds of institutions there dont conduct hiv tests and its some stupid nigerian bank that does.... and stress from JP Morgans HIV positive employees hasnt affected the bank?
I dont want to believe you have the same mentality as these people.
From your write up - it seems you still swallow everything you are being told about hiv without your own independent research. the banks also discriiminate on the basis of hepatitis.

Funny enough, Stanbic and Standard Chartered that discriminate on hiv and hepatitis status have both been reporting losses for the past 2 years. lol.

If you aren't living HIV positive, you don't know more about it than I do. Stress is correlative.

If you are in doubt about HIV, open your bank and employ all staff with it and come back with your report, since you know everything about JP HIV staff employment numbers.

And contrary to what you say, they do run HIV tests worldwide.

If you want to run your bank with Nigerian hours, tell us how people with HIV will cope and how your institution will cope in turn.
