Nothing works in this country, a whole national television sef can't compare with private ones. Nigeria should better be declared capitalist state.

Why do people hate NTA?
Because it is government and has betrayed people's trust.
As a kid, NTA was all that there was. It used to show cultural programs that united Nigeria. Since this is Nigeria's ideal.
But when we keep on seeing Northerners as president and Ministers, when Niger Delta is the one supplying the nation's wealth from it's crude oil, and nothing it left for Niger Deltans,,... then there is something wrong with the Unity. And NTA don't talk about the devastation in that part of the country.
It was private stations like Channels TV, that addressed those issues.
Hence we got to know that no matter how much fire burns the whole of Nigeria, NTA and government will get to hide the stories,
.. whilst private stations will talk about them.
So that's why we hate NTA.

If you watched the movie, Black Pantha, you will see a fictional country called Wakanda.
The idea is that Wakanda is somewhere in East Africa, and they hid their borders from the rest of Africa.
They got a natural metal, Vibranium which they harnessed and used to make their own inhouse, unique technologies.
.. flying cars and computers. And everyone is happy and in unity inside Wakanda.
....
Well, this is the same approach I propose for Nigeria. Importation of finished goods has destroyed Nigeria and Nigerian industries.
When you set up one small industry to fabricate something, hoping that you can employ many youth, and revive the economy, one idiot will go and import the finished goods from China and start selling. Thereby, your industry will close, the youth will be unemployed and start roaming the streets or internet, looking for how to eat, by either, stealing, kidnapping or 419ing anybody on the internet.
Wakanda approach is what we need.
Stop the importation of everything and start rebuilding our industries to make all the things we need.

No problem.
Because there is finished goods to import with the money abi?
America and other nations will use the foreign exchange to run their industries and keep their people employed.
Nigerians will use their own to buy shoe, and phone and keep their people unemployed, because they did not setup any industries with the money.
Who is at fault in that one? Swear now, that ever YOU are not using foreign goods this moment.
Nigerian politicians, north or south, are all doing this. And this is why we are poor and kidnapping each other in this country.

YORI FOLARIN of 'This Morning' on TVC will be perfectly fit for NTA. That man is an APC and Buhari's propagandist.

89% of his questions and quests are pro-APC. His questions are so watery that a professional journalist shouldn't have on his list.

I believe he (YORI) will do well if NTA should seek his service
what about babajide otitoju my man?

Babajide Kolade-Otitoju speaks the truth most times.

The only personality he idolise and won't speak evil against is the bullion van Chicago guy who resides in Bouillon.

BKO sees the Chicago bobo as too saintly, eternally sacred and politically godly to be criticized.

I've seen him (Jide) criticizing the clueless presido, abusing APC, calling out PDP, daring the NASS, taking on the Judiciary but he and the JH crew have never spoken against the Chicago bobo

The only three guys who won't join them to praise the lagos landlord are Sam Ibemere, Martins Onoja and one other journalist from Ijebu-Ife (I've forgotten his name.

And Jide never hid the fact that he's pro-APC and pro-Northerners

Yes, his analysis and reportage on the insecurity (Banditry, terrorism, druggery and kidnapping) in the northern Nigeria is topnotch.

He's never biased in those area of coverage and I guess his vast knowledge of happening in the military parlance made not not to be in the good book of corrupt military guys.

I respect him (Jide) for his serial truthfulness in reportage on insecurity and the military. He's only weak area is the worshipping of the Chicago bobo.

GKB, Mojeed Jamiu, Mayor Akinpelu, Yinka (d Ogbomosho guy), and others are great guys.

In my own family,we prefer watching CCTV to one old, archaic NTA when our dstv sub expires

Watching that useless station is like willingly transporting oneself to the 50s and 60s

I would rather listen to Fm even when my sub finishes, than watch NTA..

Nothing educating or good comes out of it.

To be frank, if I come to your house or office and I observed you're watching NTA, automatically, I've assumed your IQ level is -2.

It takes the zenith of stupidity for one to stoop so low to backtrack his/her brains watching NTA.
you nailed it exactly

IME1:
It's a good question

And what is worse, these people will fight and troll anyone/foreigner who tries to also badmouth Nigeria.

Words have power, the Americans keep saying God's own country, big brother, greatest in the world and the likes
Whereas there are numerous countries, some small, some bigger that the US which are by far better

People die daily from gun violence, accidents, hate crimes, assassinations, sicknesses and the likes but they don't blow it in the news. But Nigerians we concentrate so much on our weaknesses.

As an aside. Let me use my experience. I was to attend a wedding but I'd other rough places I needed to go to before the wedding. I'd to dress down a little. Worse my shoe spoilt as I stepped out of the car. I'd to use my casual slippers in the car. Do you know my Co invitees ignored from top to ankle and focused down at my footwear. I laughed. I said humans! We won't appreciate the good side and things in order but would look for little errors, issues or setbacks and blow it up out of proportion. That's why if I'm conversing with someone- words or chats I ignore errors in the language as long as there is communication. It helps to keep the flow and respect people instead of belittling or embarrassing them "unnecessarily." But a few people will leave the substance of the discussion and focus on the undotted "i" and uncrossed "t"

Now back to NTA, NTA in focusing on these festivals and ancient programmes is making a little attempt to keep the country patriotic, sane and 'limited.'

Patriotic- many of us won't have known of the fishing activities in Borno if not for the festival feature on NTA
Sane- too much bad news and political tension can cause emotional and psychological insanity, lead to paranoia and depression
Limited- NTA limits it's audience to only the government's perspective and good side. They don't do all round broadcasting and don't thrive for competition in getting licenses to air sports, music, political debates, competitions or entertaining programmes or sitcoms that draw people and families to the TV.

NTA like America is helping to polish the image of Nigeria, whitewash it, apply make up, portray a fake, deceitful, lying situation of Nigeria and save the face of government
Both you and the person you are quoting are one of the problems of this country. What sane human being would watch NTA and not complain? That person is a duns. People like you would rather prefer us praising any rubbish from the government in the name of patriotism. Patriotism my foot. We are not watching TV for patriotism. We need to get updated on the happenings in Nigeria from politics to fashion, with quality production. We want to be seeing a tv that can rub shoulders with CNN, aljazera, BBC, and other international TV stations. Funny enough, NTA is older than some of these stations but these stations are doing better than it.

One good thing about NTA though. If I want to choose any Nigerian News Station on DSTV, I only have to press 419 and then take a step forward or backwards...
Re: Is This True About NTA? by ringi82(m): 7:48pm On Apr 15, 2021
Una dey complain, if u were born in the early 80s u go understand how deeply frustrating it was to watch television. No satellite tv, we were only stuck with nta and boring state owned stations. No 24hrs service, they start at 4 or 5pm and close 11pm or latest by 12. Movies are shown only once in a whole week on Friday nights grin
