The internally generated revenue (IGR) recorded by Lagos state in 2020 is higher than 28 other states combined.

This is despite lockdown measures imposed in the state due to COVID-19.

According to the 2020 IGR report released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Friday, Lagos generated a total of N418.98 billion, representing 32.08 percent of N1.3 trillion — total IGR generated by states and the federal capital territory (FCT).
The statistics is meaningless, ebonyi has about 1.04% and still the have concrete roads scattered all over the state., It's easier to setup businesses there than lagos

There was a time when the city of Hong Kong used to be over 40% of the GDP of the whole of China.

But China one day decided to do the right thing and opened up the rest of the economy.

Eventually all the advantages that Hong Kong had slowly wore out.

Today the city of Hong Kong is only 3% of China’s GDP.

This is what will happen one day to Lagos.

Enjoy the monopoly and the uneven playing field while it lasts.

Which monopoly is Lagos enjoying?

And what has those managing Lagos done with all these revenue earned?

Later some ill-informed people will start comparing Lagos any State in Nigeria.

If you want to be objective compare Lagos with Joburg, Nairobi, Cairo, etc. These are cities earning IGR in the region of Lagos State.
Look at those cities and compare their facilities with Lagos .

Why is the SS not like saudi Arabia even with the extra 13% from crude revenues

Even when there was no monopoly Lagos and other Yoruba states have been doing well, are u aware that the Western region do lend the Federal Government money back in d days?

This is debatable because the cocoa industry is no longer functioning and the fulanis are destroying farms in the west.

I'm highly disappointed with the performance of Edo state.
Obaseki needs to sit up and provide the dividends of democracy to the people. The 2020 report of igr only shows that Obaseki only achievement is fighting God father's that brought Him to power.

For argument sake let's assume you are correct, is it not better for other state to be using Lagos template then even with the 10%? If that will help the states to raise their IGR astronomically like Lagos did, from a nera comatose state in 1999 to the 4th largest economy in Africa.

And b4 you shouted ports FG assets and industries,
1. only Island was the Federal Capital not Lagos state.
2. Corporate including VAT go to FG not to state govt. Only the PAYE goes to d states.

Good point. The blind rhetoric won't understand what will or would've happened if all coastal states have standard ports with level playing operation in all the ports. OBJ instead of upgrading the whole power of Nigeria ended up taking enough pipeline and installing enough generators and power stations that sustain the maximum demand of companies in Lagos and Ogun states.
Kano had more industries than any other state in Nigeria around 1999 but with the sinister move & conspiracies of OBJ Kano has hundreds industries closed with many jobs lost.
Lots of evil is happening in this country unknown to e-warriors!

After Obasanjo, Yar’adua served as president for 3 years and Buhari has been in power for the past 6 years. So, why is Kano’s story still the same? Is Obasanjo still the problem despite leaving power since 2007?

Oh please stop talking like a baby born yesterday, I do not hate yorubas as I have more yoruba friends I was born in lagos

You can't force igbos to be like yorubas we are republican in nature and for example I do not like nnamdi kanu, I just pick some good things of what he says, if igbos don't bow to ojukwu who do you think they would bow for?

Igbos do not bow down to nobody, though I have the yoruba thing of bowing down when I greet elders

Crime you talk like a fulani now, the igbos have invested alot in yoruba land, name one investment of the fulanis?

Yorubas commit crimes alot and crime have no nationality

Igbos can leave lagos and western States for you and you can live in peace with the fulanis

Igbos would not be blackmailed any more, yes we can leave western states and those that want to stay nothing will happen to their properties because the international community is watching and this is not 1967 and yorubas are too civilized to do such and even In 1967 they never did it

Any day any time I am for yoruba because I am a citizen of yoruba nation by birth

Lagos is 20 Million.

Give Nairobi 20 Million people then come back and repost your illogical comparison.

Sad enough, I'd think you people should be more concerned about your own kerosene, wheelbarrow and kerosene villages with useless governors.

You people are pathetic.
So population us now a burden?
So what do you want China with a population of 1.4 billion to do?

Nigeria is not even up to 300m and we are complaining about population. What if we are 1billion? Our leaders won't even do anything again.

Is it not our population that makes us the biggest economy in Africa?

Is the govt feeding Nigerians or we are the one feeding them?

Are you dumb? Population is a huge burden when placed on a tiny land mass. There's a reason why countries have immigration borders and barriers. Otherwise they would just allow any and everyone to enter to have the biggest population. China has a huge landmass. Lagos does not. This is common sense
