On the contrary , I strongly believe Seyi is doing her job well but the other two guys need to step up and act like men by being affirmative so we can have balanced assessment. But then again, you accused Seyi of being uncouth while you're also like her or even worse. For instance, you said 'Miss Shay foolishly posits....' Besides, in the first Idol show in Nigeria, the jury made up of seasoned music industry legend like Dede Mabiaku, Radio Joc; Dan Foster and a Ghanian lady popularly referred to as "It's not werking for me" had their independent opinions of the candidates even though one out of the trio always played the devil's advocate.

Question now is; who the hell is the devil's advocate that'll ensure a robust decision making process in the ongoing Idol show, when from all we see, all trio are sleeping with their heads in the same direction??

Reason the current panel needs to be disbanded, asides the joke Seyi Shay has made of the show by unprofessionally making mockery of young chaps she is meant to encourage, thereby wreaking psychological damages that may be indelible in the lives of the up and coming generation.

Your analysis is bias as well, every individual has a style, Seyi is doing her job, there's no point lying to people or sugarcoating the truth, if your performance is bad, she says it as it is, there is no rule that says everyone has to be nice.
The guy you put his pic had a bad performance,let's call a spade a spade.

U totally spoke my mind u know! Seyi shay is just one foolish aunty that lacks moral and psychological balance, hence her constant mockery of same chaps that often look up to her for some sort of encouragement. One would wonder how she was even chosen as a judge, when she also stands as an upcoming artiste in Nigeria. No doubt the normal play of politics, in selecting people for a particular role or job was the case. Each of the judges are practically inexperienced or qualified enough and should be disbanded immediately, cos they don't even know if their Judgement's right or wrong sef. The major problem with Nigerians is that where they do not even have the basic, elementary knowledge of a particular issue or field, they start pontificating as if they know all.
Suddenly, experts have emerged on Nairaland.
If you follow the program well, you will see that some of the contestants were even saying that their friends and in some cases mothers told them they could sing. As if singing in a church choir or winning a local competition is all you need to be a winner.

But we have seen many cases of people who could really sing, and were booted out of the show because of Shay’s biased judgement and ethnic bigotry. Seyi shay is acting all wind up and always on the edge.

You need to listen to her when she speaks to these youngsters! Not iota of decorum, nor encouragement. I think she needs a good fuckkk! Pardon my language, but I am very angry with her dispositions!

I watched an episode where a young lady in red did her performance and they ran her down, and terribly criticized her and made her feel less than a human and incapable. She started pleading for a second chance till the extent of bursting into tears that she had to resign from her job to pursue music.

I felt terribly sad by these set of inhumane folks acting as judge who are suppose to judge and encourage people to bring out the best in them doing the opposite of that.

Her choice of song let her down. She was better when she rap. She knew it. The only thing I don't like about the judges is over criticism at time.

A video of the event would make more sense. I have no idea what I should get triggered over. As usual, Nigerians are not watching this show nor The Voice. If it was a three lettered twenty-four hour show, the front page would receive at least eight updates daily. We're going to the third week of both talent shows and only one update has smelt front page so far.

Personally i think the essence of this thread is to suggest that the organisers should have chosen people who know about music and not just by popularity or fame or whether or not their songs trended...

Take Cobhams for example, that guy knows a lot about music (popularity aside).

Another splendid example would be Timi Dakolo, that's another person that knows about music, even Waje, Chidinma Ekele, Chike or Praiz are better candidates than the lot out there on that stage...and there are many others like them who are even better than those i suggested..

Hopefully they learn from this and do better in their selection of judges when the show goes live.

I have said this over and over again, Sheyi Shay has no business being on that show. She has nothing to show to prove to the world that she deserves to be on that seat, I have seen her disqualify talents that are far better than her! She is ruining these young talents and dreams, the organisers must do something and fire her immediately! She herself na wack singer wey no even get voice sef. She’s the reason I stopped watching the show.

Most people don't watch these shows anymore. And these aren't competitions. They're shows focused mainly on keeping viewers and signing talent with strong marketability (by today's standard).

I was thinking you were going to write about 'the voice' which I turned off after the contestant who sang ego by djine with a nice voice was not given a nod by the judges. Falz or whatever shouldn't be there. In fact he will fail the test if becomes a contestant with another name. The idol judges aren't perfect but have a transparent process of judgement where they state their reasons for not giving one a nod, and most time are correct.

I'm not even going to be bias . The first time I read a thing about the program was when Seyi Shay told one of the contestants that he can't make a living from singing so I decided to watch the show.

I actually watch the voice and Nigeria idol (NI)now . My assessment is this .I really don't think the NI judges are being unfair in their judgement because it's just so funny when you watch some of those contestant sing ,you can't help but laugh.I wonder why they bring such comedian to the show but I guess they are trying to give everyone equal opportunity .

As a matter of fact,I know someone who didn't make it on the voice and got a yes on Nigerian idol.I believe they screen out contestant for audition for '" the Voice' not NI . However, sometimes those jury on Nigerian idol can be unprofessional with comments esp seyi
