Just got my first remote job, I will be resuming on the 26th of this month... I am little bit nervous but I know I will fit in no time, though it's a new role in my career: Software Architect.

I have sent you a PM, I would like to connect with you.

Sounds like Crossover kind of job.

Edit:

A little advise, please once you start the job, don't be afraid to ask questions about their code base. When I started mine, I used to be worried that I would look like a novice but I discovered my other colleagues who asked got answers quickly. So my initial approach of keeping quiet was wrong.

Personally this is what works for me, so it is not a definitive guide:

1. Always have a Side project something meaningful
2. Tilt towards platform driven development e.g Shopify, SalesForce, Moodle, Wix
3. Try and builld something to sell e.g Themes, Product, Mobile App
4. Join Upworks and based on skills requested, ramp up and do one of those task and put in GitHub and attach to your profile, so there is evidence
5. Join a community, e.g I belong to Processwire where I help and sometimes write guides for me, it has exposed me to opportunity
6. Read and follow developer trends e.g
7. Get a Domiciliary account and a USD Account Wise
8. Create a small company and try to make some mini products and sell. e.g WordPress is a good market if you can get over the code

All these involve alot of hard work and sometimes it might require collaboration, one person cannot do it alone , it is possible but better for developers to work together. My own opinion

Take with a pinch of salt but it is working for me, also decorate your LinkedIn. I am currently working on a side project I will create a thread here for it.

I'm just curious to know, is it that you are given a particular task for the day for you to complete because I am thinking how they get their employees to be productive.

Boring?? If only know how much I enjoy your comments, Karleb's, Tents****.

That Lenovo PC you quoted, I was looking at blowing all my savings into it as this my HP ProBook 6460b might crash soon. But I don't know if that's a great idea as this HP is still running but my fear is her age.

NB: it's currently in cr.ypto. What do you think?

Why do you feel it might crash ? the HDD or the system ?

Is it that the system OS is corrupted or you mean the laptop is having a specific hardware issue.

Yes you are correct, there are several tracking softwares for bug tracking, issue tracking like JIRA, Trello, Asana etc. What happens is that a bunch of tickets/tasks are created on Jira with an estimated time for a particular sprint, this is usually 2 to 3 weeks. There are rows and columns named In Progress, In Review, In Testing (Quality Assurance), Task Completed etc to track when you start your work and when It is completed. You also have to show your code depending on the Git platform(GitHub, Git-lab etc) that your company uses. Some of your colleagues will review it and approve if the code looks clean, functional and well written for the feature you are working on.

Do you do outsourcing of any kind?
Even if it's content.
Or you have colleagues who do?

Asking for someone who needs small small side jobs for small support.

Thatis very thoughtful, because if there's no means to check, some people would be hustling several jobs at a time. Thank you for explaining.
