Is that stake on the first picture? If yes, what is the yardstick for deciding to stake.

Those are nymphs of stink bugs. I also sight them on my pepper farm. So far I've used methomyl and Abamectin against them. I'm watching to see what happen. There effect:

"To obtain their food, stink bugs use their stylets to pierce the plant tissue to extract the plant fluids. [32] In doing so, the plant loses necessary fluids, which can lead to deformation of seeds, destruction of seeds, destruction of fruiting structures, delayed plant maturation, and increased vulnerability to harmful pathogens. [32] While harvesting the plant's juices, the stink bug injects saliva into the plant, creating a dimpling of the fruit's surface and rotting of the material underneath." - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown_marmorated_stink_bug

Thanks for this. I've been looking for the name of this insect that ravaged my cucumber farm without success in getting the name.

nematodes maybe difficult to treat if the crops are already infected, that is why soil treatment is done before planting, but you can still use wormforce and hope for the best, also the survival of a farm starts from the seeds, that's why we used avenir pepper as the foundation stock for our yellow scorpion and red scorpion varieties because it is resistant to nematodes of any type
So with Avenir one doesn't need to bother applying any nematicides?

I think you are right. I just found that stink bug, leaf footed bug & squash bug look quite alike.
You really know much about insects.

Thanks.

Avenir is not resistant to nematodes. Nematode might not be an issue even with local OPV as far as it is not present in the soil

You can apply nematicide blindly but also buy hybrid seed from a proven and reputable company.

Every crop is profitable.

Choose based on market.

Tomato, habanero, cabbage are demanded more and you can sell easily.

Market is key

we have planted avenir on a site that was planted cucumbers previously but was ravaged by nematodes, the nematodes problem was so bad that we barely harvested 20 bags from 3000 cucumbers,it was mid December and the temperature was high,no matter how we irrigate if the sun comes out it will wither and started turning yellow,we uprooted some and discovered massive nematode nodes on the roots,we planted avenir after two months and harvested it from April to October,if it is not resistant what do we call that.

Boss man, pepper and cucumber react to nematodes differently.

Moreover, if Avenir is resistant to nematode that would have been a big feat for Technisem and they would have listed it as number one in their avenir catalog.

don't mind those people they have very limited information about fantastic varieties like avenir, not only that it is resistant to nematodes, did they say anywhere that it is the highest yielding, best aroma, hot flavour, biggest fruit size and the most vigourous growing pepper variety you can find, there is no competition for avenir, the only problem is finding a batch that germinates

Well done guys, you guys are great for keeping the trend alive.
From my sales record book for last year,i discovered that I made some good profit from my chilli pepper than the habanero. When there's drop in price we sun dry our chilli pepper and stored, which we later sale at very reasonable price when there's rise in price but we couldn't do such to habanero pepper we just have to sell when the price is high and low. With this development I have decided to do more of chili pepper this year 70% , 30% of habanero. The seedlings are already on bed doing wonderfully. See you guys later ..

You can smoke habanero pepper justt the same way they smoke fish. That's what makes cameroun pepper dark in color. Its mostly smoked

You need a lot of water during dry season to plant pepper successfully.
Please, Is it late to start planning for pepper cultivation. Or should I defer it. I once read here that pepper farming can be affected by all manner of diseases during rainy season. And it is already approaching.

Please, am having a problem with my pepper (habanero). Am having flower dropping, instead of the flower to convert to fruits. They just drop.
Please, what should I do to Savage the situation? All suggestions are welcome.
