Autopsy is very important in prosecution of murder or manslaughter cases. I think at this stage the family should allow the police to conclude their investigation before asking for the corpse of their daughter. This is necessary because if the investigation is not properly done the case may end in discharging and acquittal of the suspect on technical grounds and when that happens the same family will cry foul.
