davidnazee: Young man check all our bronze artwork if you see tribal marks let me know The marks you will see are iwu and iwu are not tribal marks but tattoo markings Tribal marks in benin was adopted after the empire fell Benin men in the olden days didnt wear shirt and this iwu markings were mostly done on the chest downward so a benin man from afar could be recognized The medicinal one you're talking about is different from iwu and tribal markings If you keep observing this little things it would give you a clue on unlocking others |

Jagunlabiodua: Benin speak edoid dialect while yorubas speak yoruboid dialect. There is a big difference so get that straight. A Benin man will understand naturally what an Esan or urohbo man is saying, he will never understand what a Yoruba man is saying unless he learns the yoruba language. Edoid and yoruboid dialects are totally different which means the people are different as well. The only thing that brings us together is the proximity of our lands, we are neighbours. |

Tribal marks (on the cheeks) shown on classical Benin bronzes?? See attached. Moreover, virtually all classical Benin bronzes show tribal marks (on the forehead or/and above the eye brows). #JustSaying 4 Likes 1 Share

TAO11: This were benin designed bronze but were not Showing or depicting benin people Benin depicted ibos in their artworks Depicted igalas in their artworks Those particular bronze were depicting the ogene messenger who would come to give the oba of benin cross and staff I hate your deceitful attitude TAO11 i dislike so much, you know the obvious explanation on this very bronze but yet you want to fool those who dont know and stress me out explaining the already known obvious Davidnazee, this bronze are not men from benin There are pictures and painting of benin people after the destruction of benin you wont find any tribal markings on the face of any benin person i dont want to go the ectra mile bringing those pictures out Example are picture of oba ovaramen and his captured chiefs, look at their face and tell me if you will see any tribal markings on them Look throughout benin document by European describing benin kings and chiefs if you will see any talks on tribal marks on edo people face, europeans sat in the palace in the olds to take document about bini |

gregyboy:Iwu marking is what is part of tribal marks. Tribal marks means, marks imprinted on each person, within same group of people who share share same culture ,share historical affinity, same belief and related by bloodline. So, dont confuse yoirself over English word, 'Tribal Mark'. Edo people anciently had tribal marks. 1 Like

TAO11: Those are iwu markings(tatoo marks) and not tribal marks which involve flseh cut Do you see it in oba ovaramens face because it is only worn on festive period and clean able The bronze sculpture with the tribsl marks on the fsce gives it out that the person depicted on that artwork was from another tribe I wont be commenting on this any further Etrusen.... I guess you will have ideas on benin markings

Re: The name benin and her origin Benin-ife Conspiracy by gregyboy(m): 7:45am On May 09, 2021 |
TAO11: The English is the confusion here Lets assume all, marks are called tribal marks regardless of the procedures Types of tribal marks *Scarification(cat marks, afonjaristic marks) *Tatoo marks(iwu) Benin had tatoo marks, untill recently they adopted scarification done by other tribe My point here is if the oba was from ife he probably would be having ife scarification on hos face as a sign he is from the ife clan of yoruba |
