Kzinne:I was shocked at the the level of confidence displayed by the person you just quoted above. Anyway, some banks (I know of Union and GTB) do conduct onversion exams for tellers (yes, outsourcing/contract staff). If you meet their criteria you will be converted. P.S: I'm sure Union Bank and GTB are not the only banks into this conversion exams. Left to me, we should be objective before passing out comments here. Happy Sunday by the way. |

You had the opportunity of being your own boss since and you allowed those blood sucking people of a bank to keep draining you? You're a civil engineer with a well fitted uber vehicle. You can work in sites and have a whole lots of Leisure which the bank can't grant you and at same time, make more than a100box in a month. Think about it. |

So what stops you from doing bolt on weekends? Don't listen to people saying you should give your car for hire purchase. You'll regret it. If you are in Lagos or Abuja use your car for bolt on saturdays and Sundays. You'll net at least 15k on those two days. You can use that to take care of your family while you save your salary for bigger things. |

Romanoff: 2 things: - get another Bank job as Permanent Staff and with your experience,if you need to juggle by moving into two or more Banks to stabilize, please do so, to move up,determined to do so.I know of so many engineering staff now in the Banks I don't want to mention name, they learn fast and are doing well! - Let out your vehicle on HP or as Uber in a well known State where you live,to monitor what income it will be generating as steady money for you. Transportation business is one of the most lucrative business anywhere in the World, provided, you oversee it 90%, otherwise those managing it will be telling you stories or why do you think, even govt is making heavy money from there, forget all the story that they are helping the poor Masses! Good luck! -In addition, you can also be involved in Professional examinations like Chartered Institute of Bankers or ICAN- as Chartered Accountant- to properly groom you into the Financial World. 1 Like |

2blockus: I feel your pain. I know u must be a zenith staff. You cannot grow in that industry especially as u read civil engineering. Try getting a job in your field and watch yourself flourish. Resign now if u have some savings +your bolt car you won't go hungry. Better when you are young. 3 Likes 1 Share |

HEAVEN4444:Let me explain it this way ; never start or invest in a small business that you’re not at least 75percent physically available to monitor. More often than not it leads to failure , especially for transport business. You will hear one story or another on the long run and even loose your money. 2 Likes 1 Share |

LegacyB:very true. plus the drivers will drive your car recklessly and destroy it. me i can never hand over any car that i bought with my own money to someone else to drive. even to hire driver for myself to drive me around i cannot do unless its company car and not my own. nobody will get behind the drivers seat of any car i bought for myself lmao. hence why i can never get into the transport business 2 Likes 1 Share |

thebosstrevor1: Wrong advice. I say forget the bolts job and keep your bank job. The continue searching for side hustles you can do while retain your bank job. Side hustle that you can pursue fully should the bank try to surprise you as you expected. Don't give your car for hire purchase. Na story go end am. It is either you drive it yourself or nobody drives it and honestly, there will be no difference in the working hours you spend on bank work and the time you spend on the road just to make ends meet. 1 Like |

First of all with a salary of 100k you have no business buying a car I believe you should have used part of your savings to develop yourself by learning new skills over the weekends skills that you can actually earnn from and then you can think of resigning your job . Don't be deceived there is no money in bolt driving. The fares bolt charge are ridiculously low 80% of what you get driving on bolt goes into fuel vehicle maintenance and bolt commission. 2 Likes |

My little advice! Sell the car and invest the money in FinAfrica and continue your job and save again to buy another car while your investment is growing. Then resign and go make money. Fear remains our worst obstacle. |

LegacyB: This is best way forward OP, I wish you can follow this advise. Bank contract work is a real definition of modern day slavery. They'll work you like an ox while feeding you like an ant. 1 Like 1 Share |

Esseite: This is actually my problem with Nigerians. Bolt drivers are classy drivers and they got paid more than all those big boys that do 8to5 with big companies. I think it's time we face reality. As a bolt driver, on average, you will be going home with 200k or more monthly. Why restrict yourself to a bank job coz you want people to respect you. What can 100k salary sort in Nigeria of today. Please don't give that car out to driver, he will kill your car . Start the business, and within 12months, you will buy another car, give out the old car to a driver, and monitor him. You already in the business and you understand how it works, the driver will not give you story. Before you know, in the next 5years, you will have couple of cars on bolt. I wish the Op all the best 4 Likes |

Kindly follow your heart in this case. People will give all kinds of advice here and it all depends on you on what to do afterwards. But I'll advise you have a quiet time with your maker and take your decision based on your conviction. But then, contract job is slavery and a 100k salary in this present dispensation is nothing. Yeah, I said it's nothing.. If you are convinced about whatever you what to resign to, I bet it with you, you'll be amazed at what you'll be making monthly. After three years of sitting at home waiting for that dream job, i read it here on Nairaland how POS business pays, I did my feasibility study about it and was convinced to do it. I have not known a better yesterday since then. That was how I forgot to apply for yeye jobs again. There has never been a month I made less than 350k(profit) in my eight months in the business. Do not be discouraged. You can make more than that if it's your business. I was also a contract staff in one of those banks before I was sacked for what I knew nothing about in 2016. I keep thanking God for that sack since I started my business. God will help you in whatever decision you will finally take. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Sadly, your current job doesn’t have a career progression. E-hailing doesn’t either but if you’re VERY disciplined, you’d be able to schedule yourself and prepare for and attend interviews. Not sure of the security situation in Port-Harcourt but it thrives well in Lagos. Have a plan, be tough on this plan (could be some backup funds), then take the leap of faith. E-hailing isn’t easy but since you have your car, you’d be just fine. Bless you! 2 Likes |
