kaykad:Honestly, it would be very hard to convince the VO VO’s always have problem issuing visas to people who finished secondary school a long time ago and are just going for Bsc out of the blues. It’s been 13 years since you were out of high school. They would ask you what have you been doing since then And why did it just dawn on you to get a Bsc You can try your luck though There is no harm in trying |

Hello Dayviheed91. Could you please tell me the date you got your admission decision notification? I also applied to Tennessee Technological University, but for a Masters program in Fall. Howbeit, no decision has been made yet. Please do not hesitate to reply. Thanks dayviheed91: |

Hi all, so I got admission to university of New Haven for Msc National Security (Non STEM) with no funding and interview is July 29th. I want to change my program to cyber Security (STEM). The school offers cyber Security as well. Can I apply for cyber security in the school? Or pick another school? My profile : UG - Bsc Criminology and Security. Professional certificate : Criminal Investigations, Digital Forensics and Intelligence. I will specialize in cyber forensics ( recovering evidence to support a criminal investigation). Is it possible to change to cyber security after getting visa? Can I change program while in the US after I got my visa approved? Or can I start the application for cyber security before my appointment date? Awaiting your responses. |

In d past, I heard that chances of visa success are higher in Abuja than Lagos. That it is easier in Abuja. Is that true? |

Nicerazor:Once you have gotten your visa and traveled, you can do a change of course in the school. But mind you, for you to study a course like cyber security at masters level, you need to have a Bsc in related field such as Computer science, Information technology, information systems etc Find out from your institution’s website. |

Stevenssen:hello trust you doing good please I have a quick question The part where one is asked have you been denied a us visa before and you click yes It then opens a box that says explain Is one meant to explain the reason he thinks he was denied or just that he was denied based on 214b ?? |

kaykad:It will be a bit hard to convince the VO, if you can go for your bachelors degree here in Nigeria, then shoot for masters or direct PhD(your work experience might be an edge) it would be better. |

Aishat89:You have a BSc, why would you want to go get an associates degree which is a level below what you already have? Should explain why you've been denied 4 times. |

Hello everyone. Please I have been trying to use the DS 160 form since morning but it keeps returning me back to the location selection and security code page. I have succeeded in reaching the "getting started" page a couple of times. Is anyone also experiencing this, please? Or can anyone suggest the way to overcome this? I will appreciate your advices . Thanks |

Aishat89:@bold....both are the exact causes of your denials. For starters, it is a bad idea to take an admission letter from a community college to the embassy, whether you are 17, 18 or 25. This is well-known knowledge on this forum if you cared to read through. Obtaining a F1 visa to attend a community college from an embassy in Nigeria is highly difficult, but not impossible. Since the last how many years, the visa officers have consistently shown preference for undergraduate students attending regular universities vs community colleges. If you really want to attend a community college, your best bet is to apply to both a university and a community college, get admission from both, however obtain your visa using your university admission/I-20 and transfer to the community college upon arrival in the US. Second, you already have a bachelor's degree. Even if you obtained admission from a regular university, the odds are still stacked against you because you already have a bachelor's degree. The visa officers rarely approve visas for those going for repeat degrees of the same level, except in rare cases where you have a seriously sound and cogent reason to explain why you are going for another bachelor's degree and not master's instead. Third, your age might be another factor. For undergraduate applicants, the preferable age range for candidates is between 16 and 24 by the visa officers. Those over 25 going for undergraduate studies will have to explain why they could not get one previously. Past age 25/26 it becomes tougher but not impossible. Basically, you have 3 huge odds against you - the type of school that you are applying to (community college vs university), you are applying for an associate degree (which is lower than the bachelor's that you already have, similar to OND vs Bsc) and your age. |
