I never said all jobs pay the same and if you live in UK, you'll get the drift.....truly
The essence of that writeup is not to emphasize the amount you get paid but rather to shed light on how expensive it can be be living in the UK considering the amount of deductions. Its basically like working for the Govt, but hey they dont complain because as Nigerians, we are taught to be contented as long as we get it....well maybe subconsciously.

Have you ever wondered why you hardly find the Whites doing this menial jobs, only a microscopic few would.

Prove me wrong

is London the only city in UK?...Minimum jobs in London pays higher..your calculation is wrong...am presently in UK.. I totally disagree with u

just forget europe. its dead. no more jobs. all the jobs are in china now and the only jobs you can get is service industry. and so in UK lets assume you make 25000 pounds, tax is 7000, council tax is 1500, transport lets say 1000, rent is about 12000, food lets say 1000, light and gas and internet lets say 2000, clothes lets say 300, toiletries lets say 300. so per year you are left with about 100 pounds left to save annually for naija future. thats 60,000 naira

meanwhile after 10 years your smart friends ( not the dumb ones ) in naija have bought house in lekki and married and have 2 sheedren and a top job in oyel and gas or banking in naija while you are still abroad no house no wife no kids no money no future

LIFE EXPERIENCE OF MANY I KNOW.

TRY CANADA. though they require you to have 10 million naira before they give you visa. which reminds me of the story of this girl who went to canada. her 10 million naira was used to pay one months rent and one months deposit and furniture and it was finished in less than a month.
Yeah, she used 25k dollars to pay a month's rent and furnish house. undecided
How many people ever get to lekki in a country where only very little of the population can boast of a million naira in cash.

Go Google how many millionaires are in UK and Nigeria (200m people) and come back to tell us you believe making it is easier In Nigeria.

You dey do deliveroo ? That's cash on hand bro.

I doubt your claims because it's can never be a consistent 100 pounds.

And saving only 300 per month is a sure way to poverty.

I'm an og .. i sabi everything cheesy

OG my foot.

How on earth is Deliveroo, Justeat and Ubereats cash in hand job? Money get paid into your bank account a week after. The fact that you don't know this is a testament that you are on here just to rant BS.

Have you wondered why Taxi drivers are quitting Taxi driving for food delivery or why some English people are quitting their 9-5 job for delivery?

Baba i left care job for this and i have never made less than the amount i mentioned earler.

There are multiple people complaining about deliveroo, just eat etc on YouTube.

The stress, safety concerns and you buy your kit's , pay insurance etc. .. you're doing ok now because of the lock down and that's going to change when everything re opens .

You can't possibly get a mortgage as well.

Not the best route and saving only 300 pounds is terrible long term.

I save around 4k per month and im yet to become rich lol..

Oga abeg just rest!

You get free kit when you registers with them and if you want a replacement all you have to do is put an application in to get another. Some people don't like using branded bags for some reasons, so they go ahead to buy unbranded bags on Amazon for about 20 quid.

Yes, the guys on moped/motorcycle and cars pays the statutory vehicle insurance and food insurance but they still make mad sum of money. FYI, Riders on push bikes/electric bikes don't pay insurance.

If for anything the lockdown affected a little bit because people were on furlough and some lost their jobs, hence it affected orders coming in. But even at that we dey make target. FYI, the UK government eased the lockdown more than 2 weeks ago and everything is back to normal and orders are coming in torrents. Btw, as og, wey you claim to be, you suppose know say UK don ease lockdown since na.

Which stress are you talking about? Have you worked in a care home, factory or Amazon warehouse before? Have you worked in retail were you are not allowed to sit unless on break. And why are you hinging on £300 a month saving when you know i used the aforementioned sum as a benchmark. I make little over £2k a month and i save more than 300 quid out of it.

Mr Data Analyst, Mr Pilot or whatever you are, your savings of 4k a month (in your dreams) na for your pocket. Things i have done with my meagre savings as you claimed it to be, cannot be over emphasised.

Peace*

You are so much on point.

Sometimes I wonder the motive behind such lame Comparison. Is it ignorance or to score some cheap political goals? like I saw in a different thread.

Just take a Look at exchange rate £1pound =#660 naira as at today

Imagine £200 pounds = #132 000 naira

UK Minimum wage per hour £13 = #8,580.
10 hours = #85,800 naira daily, assuming.

In Nigeria minimum wage for a Month(30 days) is =#30,000 = £45 pounds monthly = £1.5 pound daily = £0.15 pound per hour.

If OP Claimed his rent per month is #270,000 naira = £410. pounds a month

Let's say OP works 10 hours daily £130 = #85,800 daily × 4 days = #343,000 naira.

In Four days work OP CAN pay his house rent #270,000 with #70,000 naira change remaining.

In 30days, a minimum wage earner in Nigeria earn #30,000. Meaning it will take him 7 months to earn #270,000 that OP EARN in less than 4 days.

Who is fooling who?

And the Nincompoop will come and say life is cheaper in Nigeria to UK.

The OP should come back to Nigeria let another Person go.

My2cent.

Bulls eye. They will use the worthless naira exchange rate to bamboozle ignorant people, leaving the important details.

It really make sense d way u just told us a little about UK. It fine but d comparison part is different. In Ibadan, u see a "face me I face u' apartment for 20k to 40k. But in Lagos, u will see a 'face me I face u' for over 180k. Ibadan and Lagos salary payments are highly different. Lagos pays higher in all aspect than Ibadan. So u now comparing 1 pound = 550 naira is different. U said d apartment is high but u never mentioned ur salary, u are earning more than d apartment rent for sure but u never mentioned d good part.

20k to 40k in Ibadan. Maybe five years ago. Not with Ibadan Agent copying the Lagos blueprint for outrageous charges/fees.
