Keep up the good work sir! Your reward will be from the Almighty!
When I see kids going through what they shouldn't be going through, I know most parents can't bear it... they just live through it...

I didn't have any parent because my grandma played the role of a father and mother ,I remember when we were very young, I think I was about 6 years old my dad had abandoned us already, things were so bad for us to the extent that we were using rain water to drink garri once a day.

I remember my grandma and big sis going out to hawk banana (ogede paranta), those were very dark times and even despite my young age I can still remember the scenario vividly.
My only regret is that my grandma isn't alive to eat the fruits of her labour.... I really miss and appreciate her...God bless her in heaven for me.

I hope to build a house in her memory to mark her burial anniversary.

Hmmmmm
I remember back then in Jss1 when my dad’s brother came to brainwash him to build houses in their village.
It all started like this: My dad singlehandedly came to Lagos on his own at 15, he toiled and suffered before he eventually became a multi millionaire. He was able to build houses and owned a lot of landed properties and trained us in the best schools.
His blood brothers were envious of him and they always lamented on how he was wasting his money training girls in school. Whenever they come to Lagos, they do return to the village with bundles of money. Well, that wasn’t enough for them though. In fact, my dad helped them by bringing some of their children to Lagos to work.
One day, a particular brother of his came to Lagos and told my dad he needed to build houses in the village because of his mother. My dad loved his mother so greatly. I remember my mum kicking against the idea but he was determined, his brother took him to the village and after seven days, they called us that he was sick and couldn’t eat.
Eventually they brought him back to Lagos but he was like a walking corpse. All the test we ran showed nothing, he would pee on his body and whenever he ate, the food just sinks in and you definitely hear the noise.
To cut the story short, he died three months after suffering so hard. I couldn’t bear the sight of him. He suffered to death for no reason.
All he labored for, they didn’t allow him enjoy it in his old age.
I was 12 but I knew I wasn’t going to see him again the moment he was buried. I felt so sorry for him. Sorry that he had spent so much training my sibblings and I and he wasn’t allowed to sit back and enjoy
And boom! These family people came to share properties.
The only saving grace was that my dad had a lawyer.

Hmmmm such wicked brothers.... Are they still alive?.... How's your mom and your siblings?

Hmmm long story...
The lawyer insisted the kids were young and the properties they were eyeing wouldn’t be enough for our education but the family insisted. They said they own their younger brother, hence entitled to the property.
They took over the house in Oyo state, demanded for two shops at Ogun state (my mum had to tell the lawyer to give them) because they kept threatening us. Immediately they got their share, they left our house immediately but with a promise to be back because they couldn’t possibly be the only one managing the properties

Six months after his death, terrible things started to happen.
I used to be bold and fearless and even when my dad died, I was in his room all through alone and wasn’t scared. But six months after, I realized indeed spiritual things dey occur, fear Dey grip us inside our house, we go wake up with thousands of ants on our bed. We go Dey see snake and cat inside compound.
Imagine that you are in a house you have lived for 12years and all of a sudden, you can’t walk in the dark.
My mum had to borrow money, relocate us to a church. She tried to make sure we were comfortable. I slept on cold tiles with my sibblings for months. It got to a point, my mum saw paper and thought it was money.
The properties were still there but their rent wasn’t due and my mum’s shop was outside our house.
Though she is a caterer, she tried getting jobs at that time so we could just eat.
The day I wept bitterly was the day I went with her for a catering job, a lady who wasn’t even up to the tip of our finger started to insult my mum because my mum gave her a quotation for 150people instead of 200 (her husband actually asked us to reduce it though).

Well, we went back home after some time, we couldn’t keep running.
Till today, my mum is still the one managing those properties, my sibblings don’t even care about how much it is worth. We are all trying to build our future from the scratch like we have nothing.

Thanks so much for the kind words. Through them, I experienced wickedness firsthand.
My sibblings are fine and my mum is fine as well, we thank God for grace.
How are you doing too? Your mum as well?

Looking back to what’s mom went through since we lost dad, hmmmmmn, even though I was so young, and all, it was so tough, she lost the house she built to LASG, she quit her Chemist work to do series of menial job just to feed 4kids, sometimes if I look back and realize what’s she has been through, I ask myself can I go through this?, mahn, she is so STRONG, She preached LOVE, because in her words “if I remarry, where will I keep you guys”?, still she went through this all alone, thou it’s not been easy, she got some SPECIAL place in my heart forever, and I hope she live long to eat the fruits of her labor,... I am not from a well to do home. Dad had 3 wives and each wife had to take care of her kids feeding and all. So it happened that after I gained admission into a polytechnic things were so tough. I survived writing Jamb and waec for students. One weekend I came home cos I was dead broke. No food, no money on me except my fare back to school.
I saw mum and explained to her that I hadn't eaten since the previous day and that I borrowed the money I used for fare. She brought out 1k and started crying. She said even at home that there was no food and that 1k was the last money on her, that I should have it.
I was so touched seeing her cry. I just asked her to keep the money and that somehow i would manage at school. I went back to school and I lived off some friends for a while. Though she's passed on, that singular event still remain fresh in my memory.

There was a time my dad was sick, I asked Mom why he's at home rather than the hospital she said he will be fine at home.

A friend of my dad's visited and from the discussion I found out it was hunger that was disturbing my dad, he refused to eat so that we children can have enough hence it weighed him down and affected his health.

My father was wealthy before things went South.

At a point he became a bus conductor just to provide for the family. I didn't know about that until one of my siblings entered the bus he was working with while coming back from school and told us the insults my dad received. I wept that day and prayed for better days.

My mom on the other hand will refuse to eat with pregnancy saying she's fasting whereas she was reserving the food for us.

I saw her using red oil as cream, her salary was not always enough as it's used to pay gbese. We had cousins staying with us then and my parents weren't always looking good as my mom would say, what's the essence of her putting on good clothes when we look like orphans.

We are not where we are supposed to be but definitely we can't use red oil as cream anymore.

You see, sometimes I wonder what truly transpires in the villages yet after retirement our parents want to go there! Well...the world is deep!

Can I even share my story? There hasn't been changes, so there's no need to share

I have shared all the stories I've read here with my friends and family especially my children... This I believe is a way of teaching them about life...
So hearing even a part of yours can help others heal, or learn or even pray to God on your behalf...

One common thing among these stories here is the parent either die prematurely. Please one vital lesson is to give birth to the number you can cater for. There is no social security in Nigeria so you don't die in regret.
