Late Major Gideon Orkar (a Tiv) tried to punish the Fulanis for their deception by excising them from Nigeria in his coup broadcast but that was putting the cart before the horse which was a blunder, the coup failed after a counter resistance led by Late Col. U.K. Bello (a Fulani who also lost his life in the ensuing fire fight) he was ADC to Gen. IBB, Major Orkar with 88 other soldiers (mostly southern and middle belt) were summarily executed by General Ibrahim Babangida.

Gov Ortom has ordered every Tiv to arm themselves because he thinks the jihadist war they stopped Uthman Dan Fodio has resumed again.
Tivland in essence may have stopped the spread of Islam to Igboland through jihad by serving as a buffer zone via their defeat of the Fulani jihadist Army.

Remember I am a Kaduna state guy and still based in Kaduna. My father told me this story weeks ago and I was waiting for somebody to point this fact out immediately as I saw this post. The benues helped Nigeria to kill igbos during the civil war and now the people they helped are now seeing them as nothing. You can never please a fulani man.

I was talking ignorantly about how Niger delta should also have their own country when Nigeria breaks up. He told me the story of the origins of Nigerian power struggle and why Niger delta should go with Biafra.

Biafra waged a war against Nigeria (Benue being part of Nigeria) and all sides suffered unimaginable atrocities, I have attached a journal from Egodi Uchendu (an Igbo by the way) wherein atrocities by Igbos against the Tiv, Idomas and Igalas (all of the then Benue) where mentioned.

Those from Benue did no more to the Igbos than the igbos did to them, so quit the victim mentality it was a time of war!!
