I can't imagine how many people will be assassinated with this new era of no privacy in Nigeria.... You don't need to register a phone to an individual since he or she can willingly change the phone any fu**ing time...

SIM REGISTRATION IS ENOUGH AND THAT IS WHAT A SANE COUNTRY DOES....

YOU DONT NEED TO TRACK A PHONE IF NOT REPORTED STOLEN OR IN THE CASE OF National Security...

This country is just blessed with leaders with low faculty of IQ

This is totally unnecessary. Once a sim card logs unto a mast, the Imei number is the exchange language, between the sim card, network provider and device...... So network providers are already aware of the device identity......

Why are they now requiring individualised imei registration?....

This government is completely clueless......

Nice!! Buhari is working!! But what about electricity for all these tracking? The nigerian police do not even have petrol in their vehicles, shoes and proper equipment for their jobs let alone, will they still take bribes? As they are not even paid well. grin

My private phone? When I can change phone as often as I want? How does this help a totally clueless police on fighting same crime that is the police itself?

Me registering for this shit? Not until bandits, fulani and BH terrorists have been cleared and Isa Pantami is no more the Minister of communication.Bunch of terrorists in government.

Nigerians would come for him again and drag him through mud

Anyways it's a very good innovation.... Phone thieves would run out of business, if phone IMEI is registered to an individual

You think anything good can come from these vermins that shoot you for asking for good governance? Some of una dey funny and deserve every bad thing nigeria has to offer

Mention the law in Western World where this obsolet and outdated method of policing is adopted? So we can dig it out. Private phone is private property.

It will reduce the effect of mobile phone thefts... It has many advantages... even the the UK has that law...Australia uses Cell phone numbers to certify their own IMEI that was why I mentioned the sim...Just google it...It will help Nigerians alot to track certain miscreants...
what about those who sell the phone in spare parts?
Re: Nigerians To Submit Phone IDs In Three Months - NCC by Nobody: 8:08am On May 21, 2021
Why is NCC more concerned with our "security" than the security agencies. It's scary that Pantami and his fellow religious extremists in government in government has our data. Imagine whY they will do to anyone who criticises this government. They will trace you with your mobile phone and do whatsoever they want.
Let's all be vigilant. This is only a policy, and not a law. We must not provide out device details to NCC.

This is just a systemic way to regulate the use of internet on mobile phones.

They won't tell you what the real motive is, but it will be clearer to all what they intend to achieve.

I'll be right back!

NCC is on track. These things are in place in most of the western and Asian countries so it's high time we have it too especially in the face of crime and kidnapping.

Kai Kai Kai.
Some of you really deserve Nigeria.

I am appalled, I am sad and I am disappointed that Nigerians are criticizing this move.
We want a better country, but are not ready for it.

Steal a phone in the UK and see how it becomes useless to you.

“It allows us to track the phone’s information, people the phone calls each day and the house address of the people that call on the phone.” Do we even have house number in Nigeria?? Most especially those aboki's up North..
Re: Nigerians To Submit Phone IDs In Three Months - NCC by Nobody: 8:11am On May 21, 2021
As it is now. Police have full capacity to track stolen phones. But knowing Nigerian Police, it has become a business for them. There is zero appetite by this government to fight crime or terrorism. Trust me all these data will be used to terrorise Nigerians even more

Oga, how will registering phone reduce crime alot in nigeria?

To restrict the usage of a stolen device and hence control the instances of theft..Also owners can registered with their phone numbers. Whenever the device is used with a different Sim Card, a notification is sent to the registered mobile number of the owner. I believe you want to know the number that was using your phone when it gets stolen

NCC no get work at all...instead make dem pressure Ntwrk Providers to make data & calls cheaper 4 Nigerians....na this rubbish dem wam begin worry over ?
Omo Nigeria is on a long thing with this cursed administration aswear...wetin concern Nigerian Government with Phone IMEI ?
Is that a priority now ?

Just try to learn if you don't understand rather than just typing, are you a mobile phone robber?
One of the advantages is that you can block your phone when it's stolen and so no network will allow it to work.
It happens in other countries, they didn't ask you to bring money

The comments here are funny and sad at the same time.

Y'all shouting about privacy, when you leave Nigeria and decide to buy whatever network you gonna use or buy a phone locked to a network, won't you drop some of your personal info or the phone IMEI or did it skip your memory all of a sudden
Besides when going to get a passport at the embassy, won't you drop your personal info again...?

The government is bad, yes and while this policy (why it's even being implemented now is what I don't understand...) Is good, I doubt it'll stop idiots out on the street from stealing a phone anytime soon.

From Voters Card to BVN to NIN and now to IMEI what a sick policy
Re: Nigerians To Submit Phone IDs In Three Months - NCC by Nightalan: 8:14am On May 21, 2021
It's very hard not to get suspicious of the motive of the government, with the kind of means they are adopting under the guise of insecurity.
IMEI's will give you real time data, location, call logs etc of the device. Don't want to sound like an alarmist, but I don't trust anyone, let alone a government with a poor track record with these kind of information.
Seems no one is putting their thinking caps on in this government.
