moriss33: Do I need to tell you that when they snatch your phone they will have access to your bank details? Or do you think they will pity you and give you your SIM card linked to your account? The IMEI they are talking about is to use it and trace stolen phone. Do I also need to tell you that once anyone with stolen phone is apprehended, it will lead to recovering other things he stole from his victims? |

Farki: Good you took my advice to do a little research, but you do not completely understand what you read, that is if you read to understand at all. Government will state the policy and compel service providers to enforce it. Now take your ignorance out of my mention. |

aspabay: I have used IMEI to track phones before, don't be talking nonsense with me here. After you lied about phones being automatically blocked you're now saying "the government will compel". Most sensible governments didn't create such a policy because it if unenforceable due to reasons given in the website and prone to abuse you dick sucking olodo. 1 Like |

SIRRITE: Please educate me, which advanced foreign country ask citizens to submit their phone IMEI? Who is Lazy? The government or the governed? You suffer to register for National ID card, they give you a piece of paper with number and turn around to tell you the card is not neccessary. You apply to get an international travel passport (another form of ID) they tell you no booklet. Why is it that in Nigeria every few months there is a new thing the government wants citizens to come and register? From your submission, it can be seen that you have never left the borders of Nigeria, perhaps your state too. If you do not know, a police state is unfolding before your eyes! |

ChikezieU: You are right though especially when one wants to exercise his/her right in terms of freedom of speech.... because u might be tracked even if u swap numerous sim using the same said phone... yes that's a disadvantage to citizens where fundamental human right is questionable...But think about the insecurity going on in Nigeria... that's a big concern... 1 Like |

moriss33: Them capturing IMEI, how does that affect you and I negatively abeg? Do they ask us to bring money? Yes it can not curb criminality in 100% but it surely can reduce criminality maybe to the barest minimal ṣẹf......it's not everything that should always be criticizing, if you love this country u won't be seeing everything from the negative angle |
Re: Nigerians To Submit Phone IDs In Three Months - NCC by Richy4(m): 10:56am On May 21, 2021 |
ChikezieU: Just saying what I know bro because it's a system that works for many countries...It is universally accepted... It could be a baby step to help reduce insecurity in Nigeria...Especially when the govt wants to track those criminals that uses different destroyable SIM with one phone... if registered, it could help put a name to the person using the device... In terms of tracking, anyone can do it themselves... just try reading how it works on google. |

Good initiative if done in saner climes by a responsible government. This is definitely an evil initiative by this Buhari government. It should be vehemently resisted by every deep-thinking Nigerian |

Richy4:What happens to privacy even the phone companies tell that IMEI is just use for emergency. Let's not use because of insecurity to justify this. Do you know how many branches of police we have in this country and yet we still bring up policy that they can't train the police on how to use it. Since nin registration how many crime have they been able to solve using it let's be objective and see how things work. For me all this are not necessary. Let's have census is you're identified as a citizen a number should be assigned to you like what the USA have SSN everything you do getting a job or buying stuff using ur debit card you number will be linked to it. With the level of data usa have crime is been committed over their. I still need a valid argument from them the reason they need the IMEI because this one doesn't hold water. |

aspabay: You were in the Abuja police office when they tracked the phone abi? After they tracked the various resellers who put on their SIM they arrested them and I got my device back. This was years ago without any NIN.
You should be concerned by the old fools and power hungry idiots you defend on this website like a brainless sheep. You said ONCE REPORTED the phones CAN NOT be used anymore. Below are two screenshots from the site saying in plain text a simple report is not enough to guarantee the blocking of a phone. Ignoramus everywhere.
Then you should shut up when adults are talking. It is a pity many brainless individuals like yourself voted in huge numbers to keep this disaster of an administration in power.

Mrquote: To be honest with you, That's the problem of developing Country... They give little or no information before enforcing any Bill, And that gives room to speculations...they should have informed the Citizens first the reasons why they were doing what they were doing.......There should have been room for a press conference where they can highlight the advantage, the disadvantage, benefits etc and rooms for Questions and answer section...So my brother I don't know...I was only speaking out of little experience based on how it works.... But on a lighter note bro if for example, u found yourself in UK tonight... and you were asked to do this/register your SIM, will u demand for an explanation on why? |
