There are ways to curtail this insecurity which the government haven't really explore. If I may ask, how many of our Police Stations have a tracking devices & how many of the police personnel's can effectively use them? Let them resume the basis & see things work Luke magic. My humble opinion ooh

Very simple... the criteria of purchasing any simpack is always that you register it there and then before it will be handed to you... it usually takes 2mins to register at any shop...That will reduce crime alot in Nigeria... I'm even surprised that it has not been introduced in Nigeria in this modern time...Every shop that sells sim is linked with network providers...

Yes they are in a way because If registered, and u have a contract with a mobile carrier say MTN, the government could use a search warrant to access your IMEI information for number and location tracking. So even if you swap out your SIM card with a prepaid one, you can still be traced if you were using that phone.

What could be more priority in a country faced with legions of problems like ours where there's no proper means of identifying it's citizens or the level of insecurity where kidnappers easily uses mobile phones in carrying out thier heinous acts with no way of tracing them, the number one way to plan for development by any govt is to first properly capture it's citizenry, that way development could be planned on appropriate data.

They will steal your phone... yes but it will be useless.. because you will report and it will be locked. before it's opened, Questions like
IS it a SIM Locked? Was this phone stolen or lost? and so on ..All this uncomfortable questions would be asked and it will be dictated in the system when the person comes to unlock... It would deter some people from buying stolen phones..And before any phone is opened, you come with some ID...Like international passport, Local ID not birth certificate ....
