You can buy a used Nigerian car spend little money on it to make look nice then you resell for a little turn over, if you do it with passion someone will link you with another person that could link you with another person to start selling tokunboh vehicles
Na small small sha o and it requires your time and passion and if you buy a car from year 2000 if there’s any issue, take it to the appropriate personnel to scan it, if not you will hate the business.

At first low patronage but with time and God's involvement plus hard work every thing will pick up like Israeli iron dome lol

THAT IS IT.

ALSO the location of the business matters (determine the kind of challenges you will face) BUT IN ALL BE PATIENT.

The major problem you will face is the Nigerian factor!

You need to understand the business and be ready to plug the loopholes otherwise you will be making sales but the cash you're getting will not be reflected in your bank account cos your staff are stealing from you angry

Setting up the right team. If you assemble people with different vision, you're done for.

And as for Sole proprietorship, it's majorly funding and breaking even.

Nothing is guaranteed in business.

No matter how business smart you are, our beloved country will demystify yougrin

For his kind of business location and the supply chain are key. The rest will depend on his human relationships and book keeping strengths. From my experience, it is getting high performance team members initially so I had to do so so much myself. Very tiring and lonely moments but just remain focused cheesy

Low patronage. walking alone. Bootstrapping. Confused if I was doing the right thing and if it will be successful. overworked myself. Time for basic things like even cooking became a luxury. I would do my day job and squeeze pockets of time every day to grow the business. It was one hell of a ride with bumpers, crushed expectations, learning and unlearning what works, and getting needed skills to further grow in it.

In the end, it worth it. But the true joy is not in the result, but the process.

I'm inside my provision store now.

Opened it during covid/Lockdown era last year. It would be one year next month.
As a result of the Lockdown, I spent one million, one hundred thousand naira building just a 15*15 container and other fitting so as to make it cool always. Instead of the earlier budget of 800k for both the container and goods.

There was no money again to put goods in the store. My wife even laughed at me. Only her knew that it money that was holding me.

I got two hundred thousand only. my wife followed me to the market, we bought things half cartons each instead of 2-5 cartons I earlier quoted. Thanks to my wife. I never knew that, 200k could buy so many goods. when I already looking for where to raise one million naira according to my quotations.

I sold 7k only on the first day. All denominations counted (N1000 -N5).
Today, we don't count N200 to N5.
We do realize such amount in less than 10-30mins.

The only way to succeed is when you declare 'Operation Do It Yourself'.

I placed 6% profit on all my goods except recharge cards at first. Later, I made it 10%. Today, It's between 18%-21% profit margin..

Recharge Cards is just 3% profit but I augments it with POS that gives us 3k-6k daily.

Most provisions store around me do not sell Cards because of low profit. But I discovered through revelation that most Nigerians especially the poor masses make calls more. Hence, it serves as bait to bring people into my store. The thing is working perfecting well. From buying Card, they buy other things.

Another bait that has attracted customers is POS. I discovered that most people that withdraw money always sit to enjoy part of the money before living my store.

Location matters a lot. I discovered that most provisions store in area do not have parking space for their customers. Their customers always struggle to navigate. To be continued...

I combined the business with 8-5 job and the staff almost ran the business aground.
They say we have unemployment problem in Nigeria but to get honest staff among the unemployed is a herculean task. undecided

lemme share my experience nd challenges I face when I started my provision business..I started with just 65k,
As per novice I went to the market hoping to buy all the whole goods,I went to a shop nd almost spend all the money thats the first mistake I made, the shop owner Knew I didnt know about provision he cheated me.. I was able to buy only tin milk nd sat millk with Maggi.

3,,go with jotter, ask them for invoice.. Go with a calculator, nd check the cartoon of every stuff you are buying for expiry date nd the content inside..some will lie that its 5 rolls when it 6 rolls..
If u are going into provision I'd advice u add food stuffs nd drinks coupled with toiletries,,
When I started beck den in 2019 nobody put Me tru it was just Me..sometime it 2k I make, sometime money will not complete,,it was Neva easy but now I thank God..you patience nd discipline nd don't pick enemies, make friends with everyone around u nd be nice to your customer ..above all u pray ..

Starting up a business especially in Nigeria is challenging and so demands a lot of patience, knowledge of the business, and consistency.

When I started mine, I stayed some days without making any reasonable sales, compulsory fasting and the government agencies frustrate me to the point I wanted to return to the village, but today, I thank God I was able to withstand those challenges.

I have managed a departmental store before.

You need to have constant power so your drinks can be cold , you have to know how you can evaluate that: maybe you can buy rechargeable fridges. You should always keep your store rent apart and pay tax promptly. You need to be very careful of rats, you need to have everything with cartoon and nylon inside something like a showcase that rats can’t get into , if not you will come to store and you don’t have Golden Morn to sell again. Then avoid girls my brother, girls like guys that do this business. I will be honest with you when I tell you that provisions don’t fetch much money but cosmetics do. You have to combine the provision store with perfumes , bleaching soaps and all the other Carowhite cream , soap and oils. You need to have stocks of lotions that people demand around. If the chances of theft is high you need to safeguard your store even from the ceiling, put burglary prove in the ceiling. Cheers.

Can't state them all but never get a relative or friend to run your business and don't start a business you can't partake in. My first and 2nd advice are connected. cool

Business requires patient and consistency.

Try to solve your customers problem.
Don't ignore any complaints because when 1 person leave be ready to watch the second person go.

Kindly check our thread page 5.
This customer had been on our neck but the moment we addressed the issue.. that very day we got 5 sign up from nairaland.. by addressing customer complaint create trust and credibility...
Be polite Don't reinforce your inner emotion to your customers... by this you will surely get there.
Goodluck to you.
