I am a pharmacy student who is struggling to break into the world of programming...I have downloaded and studied lot of videos on YouTube and i do make use of the free lessons offered by freecodecamp. But all the hours i've put into learning how to code seems to been in vain, as I can't apply most things I've learnt to do something remarkable in real life. I'm sincerely appealing to a programmer who will like to take me under his wings as an apprentice.

I will fovever be grateful for the guidance.

Lol... I was alrdy use to medical terms since my secondary school days. I also did SLT in poly

But programming is a different terrain entirely, just like learning Spanish for the first time.

I'm facing same challages. I download pythone , git, vscodecodeuser in the name of learning coding all has been in vain. Somebody should come to my rescue ooooo GOD I love coding but I have no � about it and cant find anyone that can possibly put me through. + allot of YouTube videos but nothing is going right.

Have you found your niche or you're trying to be a web developer?

Would you find Biostatistics (Biological Data science) interesting due to overlaps with your medical degree?

Consider other Programming adjuncts : Machine learning, Data engineering, Business Intelligence, Database administration. Advanced Data analysis.

I've watched loads of YouTube videos on Js and that seems not to be helping. Cus applying what I've learnt without running back to YouTube has been a problem.

I know teaching a total stranger is big ask, but I will like nothing than to find a tutor/mentor.

because you are desperate about it. You would always run to YouTube and stackoverflow till you master it and it takes a long time.

Youtube is the 2nd most visited website in the world(After google, it's parent company). It is also the 2nd most used search engine. There are billions of hours of content being uploaded every week. A lot of youtubers consider it a full time job

A lot of creators on youtube are desperate for success on the platform so much that they need to beat the youtube algorithm in order to achieve their aims and objectives. So how do they achieve this

1. Posting contents as much as possible
2. Clickbaity Title and Thumbnail(To increase CTR i.e click through rate)
3. Other useless things to increase their Audience retention rate(In blogging, we call this bounce rate)
4. E.t.c

Sometimes all these are done for their selfish interest rather than give value.

Another disadvantage of YOUTUBE learning is that their are too many resources. There is information overload and their is something called the paradox of choice. This states that the diversity of our choices cause us stress and, ultimately, a feeling of being trapped & unhappiness. Their recommendation algorithm is top notch. You will keep watching random non beneficial videos till you run out of data

Instead of youtube learning, try and enroll on Udemy or Lynda or Coursera(you get the point). Or try and buy paid courses of your favorite youtubers. You will get more value rather than watching RANDOM videos. Also paying for something will give you extra motivation

I learn on youtube all the time, but that is me. I know what i'm doing, i know how to sieve out irrelevant content from relevant ones.

All that being said, you might want to consider getting my I.T MEGA BUNDLE. No need of data sub, I will also and mentor you in case you are stuck.

You've said it all...cus the scenario u just narrated applies to me. I tend to watch too many videos on YouTube that I get overwhelmed with the different knowledge from the different tutor.

I wanted sticking to one tutor...but getting that one tutor that cover all the step by step lesson on Js has been hard.

In learning programing you need to learn while building real world applications. Most tutorials will go the "Hello World" direction.

IN learning python, i started by learning how to build networking tools and that helped me in my field as a network engineer.

Which language are u learning? Let me know and I can recommend how to learn by building real world applications.

There's this recent hype for programming that makes everyone think they have to learn coding or they're missing out. I think it's total BS.

Everyone cannot be web developers. Chose your career, take professional courses and learn skills that complement your chosen field and soar. Stop trying to force yourself to learn coding, it's never the only way to make it ffs! Just like most people foolishly think doing medical courses is the only way to make it in Europe, which is quite nauseating.

If you think you got passion for IT then that's a different matter altogether. But if you're going into it cos of all the recent hype then you really don't know what you want out of this life.

Don't be like paper that's blown around by every wind.

I made the same mistake. Stop watching YouTube and start building. You can learn Python just by building a project. There are numerous of them online.

I am using grasshopper to learn and practice coding. I have passed fundamentals, fundamentals II, intro to interviewing, array methods and animations. I have just animations II left to finish on the grasshopper. I know I still have a lots to do. Anyway, we mouve on Java script. Before I forget I need someone to challenge me with tasks. I really want to face task challenge to keep me going.
