Lagos and Ogun States have launched a joint development commission, which is geared towards fast-tracking infrastructure development and smoothening areas of cooperation between both states, especially in border communities.

Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun announced the development on their respective social media pages.

Lagos and Ogun account for a chunk of Nigeria's factories and businesses. Most folks who reside in Ogun, earn a living in Lagos--Nigeria's commercial capital.

However, road infrastructure linking both southwest states has been left to crumble and rot through the years and there has been little, if any cooperation, between governments in both states.

Past governors of both states have also bickered over who should collect taxes from folks who reside in Ogun but work in Lagos.

"Let's hope this leads to an upgrade of the infrastructure in those neglected towns like Akute, Mowe, Iju, Ishaga, Ọta, Agbára, etc, on the boundaries of both states," says journalist Nicholas Ibekwe

Good one from the leadership of the two most developed and self sufficient states in the whole of Nigeria. Their self sufficiency didn't drop from the sky, initiatives of this nature and many other intelligent programmes are the brains behind the enviable height.

It could be observed these two states are currently playing host to some economic migrants who missed their ways and are yet to get a good compass for accurate direction.

By the way, when will Abia and Ebonyi launch their joint development commission?

What Ogun state need is to create a Border communities development commission (BORDERCOM).

Just like we have Oil producing areas development commission in DESOPADEC in Delta, DESOPADEC in Edo and others. They are responsible for swift development of those areas.

Two like-minded governors made it possible(MFM family)

Wait until the two states produce governors of different faiths, especially when one is a Muslim.

Excellent development for Yorubas. Ogun has been progressing in the shadows of Lagos. Tapping into Lagosian success will catapult their development.

Oodua Republic is ready.

They could have launched their bilateral cooperation under the DAWN Commission, an existing SW development brainbox.

Well, theory of class egoism dictates that Men would always want to separate selves from boys. It's now about heavily industrial states versus less industrial ones in the SW. Lol
