So did you buy the volvo just for ehailing or you have other plans for it ?
That money could have bought 3 civics for uber, considering the amount you sold your civic.

Shey...for someone who is advocating for cheaper cars ba. grin grin
But for real that car will give u poor rating and it doesn't have prestige. I don't recommend that car, even though it thicks all d boxes. But for prestige, class and self confidence. Don't say these are not necessary since u r using it for taxi business. If u r a driver u will understand. 06-08 Civic is a better choice. That's why some of us are looking for alternative to corolla. Corolla don cast, anywhere u go, even when on ur private waka, security, car park people, police, lastma, agbero, danfo all think u r uber

But where was this supertech before now?
Maybe if @Dru had made this research earlier before now some of the people using XHP would have been using it instead and I am sure the price of supertech then would be avoidable by many but we were brainwashed that no other oil can do the job except Mobile 1. And now that Mobile 1 price skyrocket supertech surfaced suddenly. What if the price of supertech goes up when demand is high? There is always alternative jor

Yes o, necessity is the mother of invention.
Why change it when its not broken.
Actually there are many other synthetic brands, at 12-15k Mobil1 is was the most reliable, cheapest the easiest to get. Until d price started going up. So now, we have to meuve.

Before now...just like now. Even if u do advert on TV people will tell u its XHP 20w50 they will still use. They will say why leave oil of 3,500 and buy oil of 15k shebi oil na oil. So gbagbe

Well said bro. Apart from being childish, I don't think a typical Nigerian wants to show you the way where he or she is making real money. Can't remember when Gazzuzz or radautoworks shows how much they make to encourage others as those displaying their earnings claim. Besides, someone making close to 500k per month shouldn't even be on a forum like this again. Should have fleet of cars by now. Awon dashboard geng, but not reflecting in their accounts or lifestyle.

I repeat Na level of their maturity

I don't get it...is this platform for a certain earning band? Am lost o

What about looking for good quality parts . That alone can frustrate somebody to the max .......so in these business you are getting screw in different ways by mechanics and by part dealers... When I tell people the need to maintain their cars and buy quality parts etc .. They will say I want sell market etc .....

Now 1 of personal cars needs shocks and tires .. I have bought Tokunbo shocks in ladipo .. The shocks went bad again after few weeks. Now I Will be shipping brand new shocks and tires . The tire part is even crazy . I spend 54k naira on 1 tire the tire only lasted for two weeks ........The brand new tires I got in Yankee will cost $300 ..... Which is fine and I know in the next two years or so I won't have tire or shocks problems.....

It is the parts seller making big money and while the customers are at the lossing end .. If you think am the same amount used to buy these parts over and over again could have save enough money to buy brand new

Boss I understand you well quite a lot but if I've to be honest with you, those mechanics and part dealers are not as dubious as you think of them.

Listen, trust is a part of business relationship a good business man first have to build b4 thinking of profit. See many of you akates have trust issues, you see an average Nigerian that lives in nigeria as poverty striken so they always want to milk you at every slightest opportunity or dealings with you. That insulation is a lie from the pit of hell to rob you of the benefits you would have got from that person but due to the fact that you mind is already clouded about that person or group of people then you don't see truth in anything they do for you or tell you. And by the time they finally find out you don't even trust them despite being truthful to you all along then they show you the bad side you'd always wanted to see and then you start crying fowl "I said it" "didn't I tell you"? Its a lie you're not smart rather your supposed smartness brought about your downfall. Next, you stop patronising the person its goes on and on. The question is how long will you go round the circle?

Don't get me wrong ooo I don't mean there're no bad once.

Let me sight an example to buttress my point a little, remember the time we needed to change the 4 tires in the civic I used and you sent me to one Mr. Ganiu along Fatia Ittire str in ladipo, now the guy did d job which I know he gave us good tires but the next day you asked Me to go back and return d tires simply because they're all winter tires... But little did u know that 95% if not 99% of tokunbo tires in Nigeria are winter tires, u was so mad that you even said a lot of things about the gentle man who was even giving you a great run for your money, you even wanted a 100% refund for your money that if it's not summer tires its nothing else(my madam says, Feli dem dey return money for 9ja?). We finally used our wisdom and understanding of how things work here in 9ja and later resolved that matter. Now we later stopped using that man and your so called manager Jide started buying tires for you(us) from heaven knows where the tires he was giving us didn't even last as much as what Mr. Ganiu used to sell to us even if his own her more expensive.

How about mechanics? See enh, mechanics are smart trained people ooh don't ever think because most of them are illiterate so they're foolish, they're not. Just trust them they'll lay down their lives for you, call them from a remote village they'll come to your rescue. But the first instance of trying to know them can be very difficult which is normal to all human so you've to be patience and tolerant else you won't eat the fruits from their tree. But the moment you want to prove to them you have sense more than them they'll tell you it's their workshop, haven't you heard of the slogan workshop b4?

They're similar to Nigeria police but you need to know/learn how to deal/relate with them else they'll frustrate the he'll outta of you.

So trust issue is one big problem I see here affecting your business, sorry to say please but it's the simple truth. You know me i can be very blunt and arrogant with the truth, hate me for it I don't care.

I generally like to read comments here to amuse myself.
I'll drop this here for people who can think.
For context, I started e-hailing with a corolla, moved to a Civic 04 (dru23) and now I use a Volvo S40.
In my opinion, the corolla is not worth the hype and the hassle. There's more to a car than fuel efficiency and I must say that the corolla is not exactly fantastic in this regard especially when you contrast it against the sacrifice of performance and comfort that you're making.
In April 2017 my corolla was bought for 2.2m and sold last year for 1.230, that's a hit of 950k. In those 3 years, I changed the hub and suspension assembly, AC components, then it had a brain box issue later NO engine/Transmission issues.
April Last year I got a used civic 04 for 450k, spent about 1m on it for the 1 year I had it. Oven bake, suspension assembly, AC, electrical ish and regular maintenance inclusive. I sold it last week for 530 without issues. So give or take a 1m hit.
Got my S40 for 1.7. CLEAN civic EX trim was priced at 1.9 (that's the least I saw) Corolla, lol, we know how far so no need.
While the S40 is not giving me the fuel efficiency of the civic or the corolla, performance and comfort is millions of miles ahead of the Japanese. My S40 is FULL OPTIONS, leather, power everything, parking sensors EVERYTHING and it moves like a dream. Add the humbling it gives riders when I pull up and they enter inside. Since I got it, no rider don talk rudely to me lol.
Now the numbers. While the S40 is not doing the fuel economy of the corolla, it is 800k less to buy today. For clarity, my corolla was doing 1ltr per 10km, S40 is doing 1.15 per 10km. So that's Ask yourself, how long will it take me to spend that extra 800k on petrol?
The parts of the S40 I HEAR are cheaper than the Corolla, I say I HEAR because I have not had to change anything yet. I know for sure that engine and transmission are much cheaper than the Corolla sha. So where exactly is the economy?
The 2nd hand value myth, I have debunked several times here. Mind you, the figures for the Corolla was only purchase price. In those three years about 700k was spent on maintenance. Add that to 2.2 then subtract the price it was sold for. I didn't talk much about the civic because its own parts are much much cheaper than the Corolla parts, imagine changing complete hub assembly (hub, brake discs, brake pads, ball joints) for 16k. Compressor was 15k. Parts were cheap And they lasted till I sold the car.

I primarily felt the need to post this because I adviced someone who had saved up 1.4 but was looking for a loan to add so he could get a toks corolla. I told him to take that money and buy a toks civic 04 or 05. He said na corolla or nothing, as he no see toks money, he bought a naija used and now he has his mechanic on speed dial.

There's nothing in this business like driving your own car. If you have saved up something go and get a used civic, BE SURE to do your due diligence before buying, but I will tell you categorically that your risk exposure is less with the civic. You will make the same amount of money but you'll spend less.

Nice Post bro, would love to have a conversation with you on starting an uber biz here in lag... would love yo chat with u on WhatsApp thanks.

But seriously Feli, your writing has greatly improved. Perhaps it's time you go do copywriting to avoid the subtle shades thrown at you often. I believe you have what it takes to make it in this Lagos if you can focus. You've tarried long in this ehailing business, time to leave this mountain.

Achievable but not consistent
Net earnings without deducting fuel.
Only changing of shocks alone as zapped two weeks earnings, but they won’t say dt to bank teller. I pity peeps dt will resign cos of dis earnings flying up and down .
Nobody should complain when partners increase rental to 30/35k.

The funny things about those "see how much I earn folks" is that most of them drive their own cars and will only come out here to show earnings and will never tell you about the car maintenance expenses incurred, I drive my car and know how deep car maintenance and repairs can hit deep into your savings due to current exchange rate.... net Profit is equals to net income less net expenses...not net income abeg

If you like make 500k in a month or 1m in a month, if you choose to display for all to see, kindly let the public know the overhead cost of the earnings as well.

How u go win contract of 2m use 1.5m take execute am, but you come carry 2m cheque wey dem pay u dey display for all to see abeg getat.

okay ,thank you for this point but let me be clear in this , are you saying 10w30 is better than 5w30 ??

Buy the right weight.

And any brand will do.

The sad part is, what really maters is, what's in the jug. You will have jugs stamped with 5w30, and whats in it is SAE40.

Then it brings us to brand. I can trust a brand, because when they say it is 5w30 it is actually 5w30 and not groundnut oil.

It also takes us to where you source your oil from. 100%, a number of the people buying Mobil 1 are only buying 'can' or another palm oil, cos they are buying from shady sources. You could make a lot of money just selling mobil 1 empty jugs lipsrsealed

It will interest you to know, you have a high propensity of buying the faked most hated XHP if you are buying from shady source...

So actually, the most important factor is where you source your oil from and trusted brands. So when they are selling 5w30 to you, you are actually buying 5w30.
