Lagos Announces Eko Bridge Closure For 10 Weeks by iwaeda(op): 10:02am On May 27, 2021
Lagos State Government has announced that the Eko Bridge from Costain to Alaka in bound National Stadium will be partially closed for 10 weeks for emergency repairs by Federal Government.

The state Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladeinde, who made this known in a press statement, said the closure will take place from June 4 to August 13.

Oladeinde explained that the repair was necessary to complete the rehabilitation works at the opposite side of the bridge earlier embarked upon by the Federal Government, hence the need for a notice of routes diversion.

He said pending the commencement of the rehabilitation works, alternative routes have been made available for the awareness of motorists, to manage traffic during the period of repairs.

Part of the statement read, “Traffic from Apongbon to Alaka, Stadium, Inner Surulere or Ikorodu Road will be diverted to Eko Bridge to access Costain Roundabout to Iponri through Alaka and Funso Williams Avenue.

“Similarly, motorists from Eko bridge will have to navigate their desired destinations through Costain Roundabout to Abebe Village( by Nigerian Breweries Plc) through Eric Moore to Bode Thomas to Adeniran Ogunsanya, to access Shitta Roundabout by Stadium under the bridge to Funso Williams Avenue to Dorman-Long Bridge and Fadeyi-Ikorodu Road.

“Motorists can gain access to Apongbon through CMS Outer Marina Road to connect Ebute Metta Ikorodu Road to access their destinations.

“Motorists from Apongbon can pass through CMS to Outer Marina to Adeniji Adele, Third Mainland Bridge, Adekunle to Herbert Macaulay Way, Jibowu and Ikorodu road will also be available.”

He urged residents of the state, especially motorists that ply these corridors, to take note of the diversion routes.

“In like manners, traffic directions and road signals would be made available to minimize inconveniences that may be experienced while the construction work lasts,” he added.

There is definitely something wrong somewhere.
Today is the 27th of May, and you are giving just a week's notice that a major transportation nerve will be closed for 10 weeks. What kind of insensitivity is that?

It is either these guys need better communicators or project managers or they need to import London-used commonsense for them to share among themselves.

The one they've been doing at Ojota, its seems they want to use 4 years to patch road. Those going to Ikorodu see Hell twice every day. The current Commissioner for transport in Lagos will just be wearing oversized suit about and be closing roads.

Sanwo-Olu needs to either fire or redeploy those in his Comms team, starting from the introverted Commissioner for Information. Those guys are a major part of the problem he's having.

Suffering again for Surulere axis and they will still join Mile 2-Orile. Maryland wahala is there o. When we talk, the noise makers will tell us Lagos is moving. It is just lack of planning by those in charge. Apapa road (Ebute- Meta West) that is supposed the alternative is full of pot holes. Do they think of people's health. Anyway it is the noise of the drowning man.

Dear Governor,

Please and please, do not do in TEN weeks what you can accomplish in THREE weeks.

Free yourself from the grips of those who like to see Lagos people suffer.

Thank you.

If you had an iota of commonsense, you will realise that this is a parody handle. The fact that your head is flat doesn't mean that there should not be space for sense inside.

Fashola still thinks he is the governor of Lagos state....he wants to repair and reconstruct all the federal roads in Lagos while other region are bagging for attention...almost all the federal roads in the southeast are in deplorable state...if not the threat from the Niger delta militants they wouldn't have considered awarding contract for the completion of Eastwest road recently.

And yet we have an idiot that calls himself Lizard of Ubima constructing Dry ports in landlocked states and building railways in other regions while the rail system and ports in his region suffer unprecedented neglect.
Re: Lagos Announces Eko Bridge Closure For 10 Weeks by OmoManU:
It's better to have representatives at the center, all the neglects that lagos has suffered since relocation of FCT to Abj since 1992, Fashola and Tinubu are both trying to reverse it in their own little ways. Lagos has never had the kind of attention its having under this administration since 1992. Lagos Ibadan express ✓, Lagos Abeokuta Express all the way to Abule Egba ✓, Apapa Oshodi Oworo Express ✓, Third mainland ✓, Ahmadu Bello Way VI to Outer Marina ✓, 90% of Ikorodu Road all the way to Ojota ✓, National Stadium under renovations, National Theater under renovations, New Modern Terminal at MMA, ready for commission, almost all the major bridges within the metropolis that needs rehabilitations, ✓. Good infrastructure is always the bedrock of any meaningful development, which can even be seen with the recent moves of President Biden. I guess it's only Lagos Badagry Express and Apapa gridlock that has defied solutions for now. You people keep hating Tinubu and his boys while they're silently making their own lives better and that of their people. We will say it again, politics is local and common sense not noise making.
