Don't confuse Basic military training which is what is done at depot and other military institutions in the world for specialised trainings, after depot training some will still go for further training. Nobody will be teaching you advanced counter Insurgency, etc At boot camp when the most important thing at that stage is learning how to properly shoot your rifles, read and interpret maps, fieldcraft etc. Military training is always a continuum.

Nigeria army send them to the front immediately after depot, so Depot should prepare them better for COIN ops from the word go, that's the problem.

Seriously, i don't like this selection. Maj gen Yahya is of 37rc. We skipped at least 15 Generals. They might retire Sarham. Look at Maj Gen Ahanaotu for heaven sakes. That is a very high ranking and experienced officer. Look at Maj. Gen Ezugwu too. Anyways they have their reasons.

Lol! Pretend as if you didn't see where I said the '63 constitution could be fine tuned to meet today's realities. Of course as the paid gov't hag you're you won't see it, you'll rather delve into ethnic dog whistling. Even the Ijaws, Itshekiris and other minorities your talking about are all calling for restructuring, we now have six regions each of which can stand on their own, how the Igbos who are chiefly in the south east will be lording over the minorities who are in the South South defies logic and only concretise the notion that the foolishness in your reasoning is inate, cancerous and contagious even if you're poked with a needle you will never get the point, you have sold your dignity in exchange for tradermonie, in all honesty I would love to exam the brains of the people that brought you to this world, who knows science may have answers to the roof breaking idiocy jammed into the brains of an individual.
The joke is on you.

You want to fine tune 63 constitution that choked minorities within just 4 regions but you can't fine tune 1999 constitution that has 36 states & 774 LGAS, your IQ is too low for this discussion.

for those saying efcc have the right to arrested a serving military official , you guys are completely wrong. the military police is the only institution responsible for arrest, detain and transferring of military case to civilian court. if efcc wanted arresting the general, they would have write to the military high command, especially the military police department with prove of the allegation level against the general.

The 1999 Constitution was crafted by solely by civilians

Town hall meetings, consensus and all that.
This thread would further explain this

The 1999 is not exactly new, it's a replica of the 1979 Constitution with very slight adjustments.

This is also a form of federalism which devolves powers to smaller units like I said earlier things can be tweaked to meet today's realities. A constitution that allocates resources based on population and geographical size is fraudulent & it's bound to breed agitations.
Fiscal federalism in its truest sense is what majority of Nigerians are clamouring for if we're being honest.

Who are the Nigerians you refer to because there are two types of Nigerians the last time I checked, Ignorant Nigerians like you & sensible Nigerians like us. you can't sit in ignorance & assume everyone has the same problem as you.
I told you the name of the committee that drafted your constitution, I expected you to do a research on them, get their names, portfolios & their national spread, what you did as an ignorant toad was to present videos & pictures of comments made by ignorant bingos like you instead of tasking your head to get the facts.
I ask again, who cursed you with ignorance? who cursed you with total lack of ability to think for yourself?
Anyone asking for the return of regional government is either Igbo, Hausa or Yoruba, the earlier beneficiaries of the 63 constitution before minorities woke up, they really dont want to fix anything, they want to shift hegemony from national to sub-national levels.

Then its a stupid tradition, I agree that the military should be informed where and if possible but the authorization is bullshit. Law enforcement agencies should be able to arrest anyone anywhere and at any time. This is part of the reasons many soldiers are committing heinous crimes. To make things easy, the military police should have bureau offices at the HQ of all law enforcement agencies and vice versa and also have written agreements with each other. This will even help reduce the headaches many bastards give the military.
Military crimes should solely be prosecuted by the military but any other crime, the military shouldn't interfere or even give their full support.
The only situation where conflict can exist is when law enforcement agencies are attempting to arrest soldiers on very important missions and that is why the military command should have a reasonable relationship based on cooperation with law enforcement agencies.

It is not kuku their fault, if the police was very professional, no one will be telling them any trash. A suspect is a suspect no matter the organization he belongs to. Let the court decide the rest after arrest.

I agree we need strong institutions but how do we now tackle the issue of revenue generation and sharing formula? Which in my own opinion is the major cause of the grumblings & rumblings in the country especially the Southern states. How can we explain to the common man that states can't generate their own power without being forced to feed it to the national grid? The matter just plenty.

Revenue generation & sharing formular is the lazy grumbling of politicians it is not your business, states can generate power without the National grid its called the IPP, lazy politicians feed you those fables because they know you dont have anything in your head!!
Power is not even in the exclusive list but once you ask a governor to provide electricity, they start lying up and down. criminals!

Back to topic, I am very aware of the CDCC and a lot of the things that happened back then which produced the constitution, and ultimately the OBJ Government.

Still doesn't change the fact that the constitution writing process was kicked off by the military.

Which made them bigger stakeholders in the process, and the final result, than they should have been under normal circumstances.

I hope you are clear now.

i said some of thing to a general one setting time and he say, the police and any law enforcement agency in this country have to write to military police unit whether in the navy , army and air force before prosecuting any military personal all the military unit have their police unit. i remembered he said that they have the necessary power backed by law to prosecute both serving and retire solider. he said, if a military personal is being arrested by the police without a statement giving to is police unit for authorization, then the military unit involved have the right to go and rescue their personal. i support the military on that because our police are unprofessional to worked on military personal case, they can be manipulated .

Will they allow said process to fail or not favour them? Either as individuals or as a collective

This administrations attempted to grant local governments autonomy, all state governors united under the governor's forum fought against it. They are currently misappropriating funds meant for the local government.
This same administration gave the judiciary autonomy, the state governors have refused to do the same, judicial workers went on strike because of that but nothing came off it.

It is these same governors that are at the front of the struggle for restructuring. How exactly are we supposed to have strong institutions when governments at the state level are totally against it?

Please note that these same state governors under the governors forum have unanimously approved total deregulation of the oil sector and removal of subsidy and are looking forward to the sale of PMS at #385 per litre.

Wrong, military men are subject to both the civil and Military law.... That is the position of the law.
Non learned minds , keep thinking Military law is above the civil law .
If a military man commits murder not relating to line of duty, the court with jbetter urisdiction would be the civil courts.

This is the major problem I have with his appointment as the COAS, I would have loved someone from either Armour, Artillery or Signals with experience in intelligence to have bee selected.
Our approach to this war needs to shift from majorly relying on infantry to other things.

I cannot discuss the speculation/allegations of corruption, if those alleging him have evidence, they can sue him or raise it during the senate confirmation process.

I think we have to also look into how we retire Generals in the military. It's best appointment is made based on seniority i.e If appointment for the COAS is to be made then selection should be done from the most senior course in service or if we are sticking to this model of appointing anyone then we should figure out a way of retaining or keeping those Generals that would have fallen casualty as a result of an appointment in the service because I believe they still have alot to offer. We can't be spending huge amount of money to send these men on expensive courses only to end their career abruptly. The way things are going any President can wake up one day and appoint a Brig.Gen as COAS
