1963 constitution still remains the most practicable piece of document if we're to have any semblance of a sane nation. If we're being truthful to ourselves the major issue about restructuring borders on fiscal federalism and resource control, we saw how the regions then were in serious competition amongst themselves in terms of development.
The people giving excuse aren't serious and sincere about solving the myriads of issues facing the country maybe untill everything collapse. It will never make sense for states who criminalises, bans and confiscate Alcohol to still enjoy revenue from the same alcohol, these are some of the problems breeding discontent and separatist agitations in the country let states/region take charge of the resources in their domain and pay an agreed percent to the centre, this is how it is done in the US we went to do copy and paste. One man in Khaki just sat in his bedroom and came up with a document and said it is "We the people" as if Nigerians were consulted when it was being conjured. The simple truth there is if something is not done urgently to rethinker with structure of this country just like the Titanic it is bound to sink, it's just a matter of when.

Have you read the 1963 constitution? A constitution that caused the highest crisis in the history of this country, balkanized the Western region within a year of operation due to endless crisis between Majority Yorubas & Minority Bendel.
Before making suggestions on the direction of this country, read your history first.

Smoking restrictions ko, drinking restrictions ni!

Give me name of states where smoking is banned like the way Kano, Kastina, sokoto, zamfara etc banned the consumption of alcohol you dey write nonsense up and down.

I no know why this argument dey long like this sef. I talked about Kano Government earning from Beer tax money just to buttress my point about needing to restructure Nigeria. I no even understand what your argument is sef undecided

Sharia states shouldn't be entitled to money that's been earned from states that allows people to drink beer.

You're always arguing like a dull person sha grin

This is the way you argued fulanis herdsmen were not to be blamed for herdsmen and farmers clashes, now you have been proved wrong by Southern Governors. Even some Northern Governors like that of Benue state and even Miyetti Allah don give full support to the law.

My statement is simple, states that do not allow their citizens to consume beer, tax from sales of beer that is been earned from states that allows their citizens to consume beer should be shared between those states that allows their citizens to consume beers.

Are you related to Garba shehu or Malami? You dull like those two men I write their names up there.

If everything dey go smoothly, lawmakers won't be working on reviewing the 1999 constitution. I'm sure this is one of the matters people go table down. Let states pay a certain percentage to the FG. So if I dey ikorodu, dey drink beer, the tax earned from it will stay in Lagos. Nigerian Breweries or Guinness won't have to pay to ABJ. The process whereby such money will go to ABJ, ABJ go com share am between Lagos and Kastina is unacceptable.

Improper training fr all pur nation's security personnel are eveudent.

From the army, to the navy and Airforce (except a handful special forces and fighter pilot s), they just lack proper training.

That's what you get when your focus is on planting heads for six months in a rotten place they call depot and beating your chest like it's a normal thing. Tactics? Zero, Movement? Zero, arms? 18th century...

If anybody must quote me and does so with snide remarks and insults, that person will get an earful that he/she will wish he/she was never born. I'm not in a good mood today..

Depot is not doing any serious tactical training make we no decieve ourselves. Most of what they consider training is just torture and punishment, which is reflecting in the way they treat civilians.

Other advance country military training academy will create real village for training purpose just to put reality and what is obtainable in real life situation into the training.

I watch a particular training of a country one time like that online (I can't remember), they put people who act as hostages in bus with other ones acting as abductors, then some guys on training had to rescue them.

Nigeria forces are only training men to be cruel.

Herdsmen returning to Kano State from other states of the federation must do so with clearance, the state police commissioner, Sama’ila Dikko, said on Wednesday.

https://todaypoliticsng.com/police-to-bar-herdsmen-from-entering-kano-without-clearance-commissioner/

I won't be shock if Mr know it all start telling the Kano state commissioner of police he is wrong about this, say any farm destruction caused by herdsmen cows in kano should be blamed on bandits.

I even have a copy of that constitution stop this your primitive gaslighting that there were crises in the western region chiefly caused by the bitter politics between Politicians then the 1963 constitution is now totally useless. Even prominent Nigerians including SANs are calling for us to return to that constitution, we can fine tune it to meet today's realities rather than patching, managing and reviewing the 1999 constitution which is the worst because it never came from the people. Let's assume 1963 constitution is rubbish, what should we now do? Continue to run the country this way? Oppps!!! I guess Nigeria is working fine under this present administration due to the political and economic sagacity of Messiah PMB, since the Messiah is not in support of restructuring then we should fall in line like zombies.

Don't confuse Basic military training which is what is done at depot and other military institutions in the world for specialised trainings, after depot training some will still go for further training. Nobody will be teaching you advanced counter Insurgency, etc At boot camp when the most important thing at that stage is learning how to properly shoot your rifles, read and interpret maps, fieldcraft etc. Military training is always a continuum.

Don't mind paid political jobbers. How can any sensible individual make nonsense of a constitution that was drafted by all the parties then via a conference similar to the 2014 confab. This is a constitution with the following features:
1)Establishment of the Federal Republic
2)Introduction of Parliamentary System of Government
3)Creation of Office of President
4)Federal Parliament
5) Distribution of Powers
6) The Executive
7) The Judiciary
8 ) Relationship Between Federal and Regional Constitutions
9) Regional Constitutions
10)Amendment of the Constitution

If we can't get a brand new constitution then we should go back to the 1963 constitution and amend to meet with the present day challenges, amending Abdulsalam's constitution is a bloody waste of time and resources.

If you did, did you understand it? You didn't see clearly the regional structure alienated minority groups? you didn't see the former mid-west present day Edo & Delta were choked to the point of balkanization?

You didn't see the first militant in the Niger delta wanted out from the Eastern region for the same reason? all these within 3 years of operating the disaster you are suggesting.

Your name is Ugo, probably an igbo, a clear majority of the Eastern block, go and ask an Ijaw or Itshekiri if he wants a region dominated by Igbos, you guys throw around your personal interests as national solution.
pls if you are tired of Nigeria, pick up a visa, so many countries are looking for losers that will clean their drainage.

The 1999 Constitution was crafted by solely by civilians

Town hall meetings, consensus and all that.
This thread would further explain this

The 1999 Constitution is not exactly new, it's a replica of the 1979 Constitution with very slight adjustments.

A country with over 300 tribes can not use the 1963 constitution as it is without facing numerous new problems. The southwest which is arguably the most homogeneous region isn't as homogeneous as we think, talk less of the north, south south and even south east. Have ten regions and we will still be hearing cries of marginalization. In my opinion, the best thing is to strengthen the local government and that at the wards so as to bring government and governance closer to the people. Majority of the dividends of democracy can only be enjoyed by majority of the when provided at the local level. Neither federalism or unitary system will work if this isn't taken care of. Let each tribe/ethnic group have a functioning government close to them where they can participate in the governance.

This is also a form of federalism which devolves powers to smaller units like I said earlier things can be tweaked to meet today's realities. A constitution that allocates resources based on population and geographical size is fraudulent & it's bound to breed agitations.
Fiscal federalism in its truest sense is what majority of Nigerians are clamouring for if we're being honest.
