Lagos Interview - Approved
27 May 2021
Assistantship covers 99% COA
Deficit $500

Thank you to all contributors here. You guys helped me through my journey. Thank you so much @schrodinger1 and @dodoyinsola for your help. I am super grateful.

I don't have so much to share from my personal interview experience however, from others that I listened to while waiting for my turn, it is best to go very prepared with lots of prayers. Study all transcripts on this forum and draft yours too. I drafted mine and went through the interview process with a Nairalander at least once. Treasure the advice on this platform....na real gold!

Wishing all other prospectives God's favour!

TRANSCRIPT

VO- Good morning
Me- Good morning

VO- Can I have your passport and documents
Me- Passed old and new passport and form i-20

VO- why did you give me two passports?
Me- One is my old passport. She immediately gave it back to me.

VO- Reads out...You are going to ...XYZ...University to study....ABC
Me- That's correct

VO- I can see you have assistantship
Me- Yes please

VO- Do you have proof of this
Me- Yes. Searched my documents, couldn't find the print out and I saw it stuck to the form i-20 I gave her. Told her to check beneath the form i-20. She didn't.

VO- Typed on her system and handed me the white paper with my documents while she kept my passport. Told me to pick up....
Me- Thank you and left.

Ah, See grace! I tap from your blessing. Best wishes on your future endeavor.

Good day master and guru in the house, please I have a question which seems to be unclear.
How does one get a graduate assistantships, because most of the school I contacted so far told me that I will need to be admitted and enrolled before getting graduate assistantships, and not even instant but after first semester or a year, please is there a secret passage to get graduate assistantships or does it mean that some school can give when applying.
Please I need your help, I want to apply for master in Epidemiology which will pass through SOPHAS.

I will be very glad to hear your opinion please.

You can't win the Lottery if you don't buy a Ticket.

Look for Schools that offer GA from the off. Some will require you to write standardized exams, consider your GPA, work experience, video interviews with Faculty etc.
Looks for those schools and apply to them and fulfill their requirements. Finito.

I'm sure if you take your time to go through the thread you'll see tons of them. That's why this thread is golden. All you have to do is take out time and read up different transcript and you can predict the possible questions you'd be asked.

Is anything wrong with someone sponsoring a high school teacher? I doubt. Also, being a high school teacher is not bad. People with no job are securing visa. If his father can not spend on him, then who will?

Mayokunudo:
Number 1 you are a high school teacher, why will your dad want to sponsor an high school teacher?? Why will he want to spend to much on a high school teacher?? When you finish your masters degree will you still be a teacher??
Number 2 I think your Dads business is not really a business the vo thinks can sponsor you. Most times the it is good to package your self before you go for an interview. I felt your graduate assistantship would have helped you get the visa but you sounded like an intending immigrant.

Guys please I am having challenges paying my tuition fee deposit with my atm.. how best can this be done

How much is it because there is a limit naija card can use online monthly in making payment and that’s why most of the card ain’t working and some bank deactivated it from online transactions. Imagine a bank monthly limit is just $20 grin

The best option is to use third party to make the payment and if you need help here in making the payment feel free to contact and remember it’s all about your choice.

N.B exchange rate is BDC/Aboki rate

Yeah, 300 level but the transcript I used is covering my first and second year only. And j am transferring from petroleum engineering to chemical engineering. How do you think I should put that when they ask why I'm transferring please?
Laworldz:
it shouldn’t be a problem but what level are? If you’re in 300 level tell them you just resumed your 200 level first semester cuz if you say 300 they’ll assume you’re almost done and traveling to US is not necessary

I need suggestion on schools for Structural engineering/Construction management. I wish to target Spring/Fall 2022. Kindly help. Thanks

Please Choose Penn State University. They have a World Bank sponsored scholarship for the Built Environment that can give you a full tuition waiver. I shared the scholarship link earlier this year on this thread

What is the possibility of one getting a Visa approval if his sponsor is based in US?
I am in that shoe right now, got a partial scholarship for MSc in Engineering Data Science at the University Of Houston and my uncle who will be funding the deficit lives and works in the states.
UH is a nice school. Do you share same surname with your uncle? And is your uncle staying in Houston too?
