It is because you already had the ground knowledge of how car dealers and contractors work. Telling a lady you are mechanic will decrease your chances of marrying her by almost by 90%. No lady wants to marry a mechanic except for the ones that really understand that a well properly set up mechanic workshops makes millions weekly.

A lot of things seem degrading to women and being a mechanic is one of them. Sincerely I wouldn't tell a woman whom I am hoping to marry that I am a mechanic either, I would simply say I am a Mechanical Engineer

Not trying to justify the deceit of her husband, its just that women in their desperation to settle down, easily fall for lies and won't do background check. Also, men subconsciously know that every women have an unrealistical image in their head, and men try to fit into it. If he came out clearly that he is a mechanic, chances are high she would be turned off.

This is why it's easy for a woman to love a man she met online because of his highlighted qualities (lies or truth), even though such calibres of men and even better surrounds her in real life but they didn't fit her imaginary man. This is a recycled story - more like a storyline. Anyway, only a man who has low self-esteem will deny his honest occupation or means of earning a living, or go to extra length to wear a garb of dishonesty with an intent to satisfy an insatiable woman.

That said, it's always appalling, yet irritating, how most of you are always bold to dish out misinformation, exude ignorance and dishonesty:

- Without intent to disparage car mechanics of any form and standard, it's ignorant and dishonest to say that a car mechanic makes more money/is more lucrative than a car dealer of the same level.

- Without intent to disparage brokers and non-professionals who are mainly into supply, but claim contractors or contracting firms who aren't doing well for one reason to another, it is ignorance and evil for anyone to use you as standard for what a professional/organization that handles contract is or disparage contractors because every topnotch professional/organization be it in the legal profession, fintech, financial, O&G, sector, etc, has always done everything possible to handle contracts for the governments and other businesses, and by extension, are contractors to an extent, even when they aren't contracting firms. So, a successful professional/organization that handles a contract for governments and other businesses can never be in the league of any salary earner; it doesn't matter whether such a salary earner is the CEO of BP, not to mention mere white or blue-collar salary earners.
