Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old farmer, Kelvin Abugu, for allegedly defiling his neighbour's 9-year-old daughter in Uso, Owo Local Government Area of the state.

Confirming the incident on Wednesday June 2, the state Commissioner of Police, Bolaji Salami, said the mother of the victim reported the case to the police after she found her bleeding from her private part.

"On May 2, 2021, at about 14:20hrs, Agnes Emmanuel reported to the Police that she saw her daughter passing out blood from her private part and when asked, she said it was one Kelvin Abugu who inserted his hand and later his penis into her private part. He was immediately arrested and has confessed to the offence and the case is ready for prosecution." the CP stated.

The suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation and blamed his action on the devil. According to him, he lured the young girl into his room under the pretext of watching Television with him and closed the door immediately she came in.

Abugu, who said he has no girlfriend or relationship, explained that he could not penetrate the girl and had to use his finger to defile her before penetrating.

"I don’t know what came on me, I pounced on the little girl and defiled her before I knew what was happening.” he said.

A young man allegedly beats up his 3 year old son in Yenizue-Epie, Bayelsa State , leaving the boy severely injured and unconscious.

According to eyewitness, the man has the habit of beating up his wife, who left him few weeks ago with their 3 year old son (name withheld), the father went in search of them and took the boy back home after many days of looking for them.

After taking the boy back home with him, he locked the boy inside and beat him up mercilessly, neighbours were scared of him and couldn't help the poor boy as he would fight you if you dared question his actions.

He ran out of luck today when his neighbours couldn't bare it anymore, they had to seek the help of some young men in the community, when the young men got to the house, he had locked the door and refused to open it for them.

The young men broke into the house and found the boy unconscious in a carton where the father had hid him thinking he had died.

They quickly brought the boy out and found him still alive, but with various degrees of injuries, the father had cut his ear with a scissors and also broken his leg.

They called the police and waited for the police to get their before taking the boy to the hospital, and also added the culprit over for the police.

At the time of this report the boy is responding to treatment.

Defilement: Victim's Family Discontinues Rape Case Over Threats To Life

On the alleged defilement of a 16 YEAR OLD girl by a Traditional Ruler(His Royal Highness) who hail from Ula-Ehuda community in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, the family of the 16 Year old girl has informed Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign that they cannot continue with the case over threats to their life .

This is coming after Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign took the family to Police station and reported the matter. The Medical test result of the medical examination conduced on the 16 year old girl in Ahoada General hospital shows, she was defiled.

The Centre cannot cry more than the bereaved. We have done our part. We will continue to stand against Sexual and Gender Based Violence .

15-year-old remanded over alleged murder
The prosecutor said the teenager accosted the victim on her way home from school and asked her to be his girlfriend but she refused

An Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday ordered that a 15-year-old boy be remanded in a correctional centre for allegedly killing a female student.

The police charged the minor with murder.

Dehinde Dipeolu, the magistrate, who did not take the plea of the minor, ordered that he be remanded for 30 days in the Boaster Home Correctional Centre pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

The magistrate adjourned the case until July 16 for mention.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Olu-Balogun Lawrence, told the court that the minor committed the offence on February 24 at about 1:30 p.m., at Nawair ud-deen Grammer School area in Abeokuta.

Mr Lawrence said the 15-year-old beat a 14-year-old girl to death.

He said the boy and the deceased were students of Rev. Kuti Memorial Grammer School and Nawiar ud- Deen Grammer school.

Mr Lawrence said the minor accosted the victim on her way home from school and asked her to be his girlfriend but she refused.

“As a result of the beating, the victim was taken to the General Hospital at Ijaye for treatment and was later transferred to the Federal Medical Center Abeokuta, where she died,” he said

Mr Lawrence said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 316 and, 319(1) of the Criminal Code, Law of Ogun, 2006.
