Hello All,
How long after the interview before your passport is ready for collection?
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by Tylerbaby: 4:43pm On Jun 05, 2021
How do folks with 40-70K SOA survive in the US? Apparently getting a US VISA is just the beginning, how about while in the country? How do they survive? I'm not talking for the Otedolas or Dangotes o.

Hello All,

While applying for a new visa appointment, the part to select visa priority is not showing on the website. Wanted to pick "previously denied" but I still have it as "Regular"

Meanwhile, The page still shows "Your passport is still with the US Embassy/Consulate"

Can I go ahead with that or what is the way forward?

Thanks
how long ago has it been ?

You study at ETSU?...applied there and still waiting for their response...lets connect pls
Pefuele:

Depends on the school. If your sponsor name is written on your i-20 then the VO will see it. I know ETSU does that.

If you are in Ibadan and need GRE. I have got Manhattan Prep 2019, Kaplan 2019, and then Princeton Review for TOEFL, 2019.

Hard copies. So first come first serve. Please do not dm. Just reply to this. The first person to contact gets.

Only if you are in Ibadan please.

Ibadan o. Thanks

Okay, so the Princeton Review and Kaplan are gifted out already. But the Manhattan remains: one verbal and AW and then the Quantitative.

I think you should just pick a date. Like that since you didn’t get any visa priority option
I know someone in the same situation
But that passport with the embassy part would clear off after some days

Ehizy007:
You do not have your SEVIS ID written on your DS-160 and Visa Appointment page. Don't mislead people.

Please kindly read between the lines before you respond next time. If you dnt understand what you are reading you can ask for clarification.
When you are scheduling interviews on the appointment portal you put in your SEVIS ID. However, once you have scheduled you can't see it again. It can only be accessed on the back end by calling CGI. Except you want to book for another interview. Also, your SEVIS ID will also be written as you complete the school information section on the DS-160. So, both should tally.

Oh! I applied to ETSU 3 years ago so I know some things about them. Besides, I know lots of schools in Tennessee because it is also a popular destination for international students. ETSU,MTSU & APSU are more popular among Nigerians. Other schools are Vanderbilt, UTC,TTU,UTK and the likes....

I always ask this question too.. because I dont get why I go comot here and start with another unrealistic task over there. But I think they always have their way with assistantship when they get there or something

Hey Guys,

My first attempt. Help me thank God, my visa was approved June 3.

Thanks to everyone that posted their transcript here because I used it to practice.

My transcript:

VO : Your passport and I-20
Me: Good morning ( I passed it)

VO : Why did you choose this course and this school?
Me : I have been an ardent follower of professor xyz and he happens to be a lecturer in this great institution. Also, I have a couple of previous and current colleagues who are graduates of this institution and they have amazing reviews about the standard of education.

VO: what do you do currently?
Me: I’m a senior software engineer

VO: I can see you have a scholarship of 17k why is your sibling still sponsoring you with 32k?
Me: before the scholarship, she has already promised to sponsor me with that amount.

VO: What does she do?
Me: She was formally an accountant with xyz oil and gas Ltd but she currently runs her own company and she’s doing absolutely well.

VO: How long has she been running this company?
Me: 2 years now

VO: Are you sure she can afford the amount since she’s been running this business in this country for just two years?
Me: Oh yes, she makes a lot of profit and she already has a staff strength of 22 employees

VO: (Turns off mic and types for a long time and takes my i-20 to another of her colleagues to confirm a couple of things)
Me: (singing in my heart Moses bliss song titled faithful to fail me, also praying that I’ll not leave here with a blue paper)

VO: (closed my passport and returned I-20 slide her had into the pile of white paper)
Me: (singing in my heart JudiKay song titled Capable God)

VO: you’d need this 1-20 blah blah blah...(hand over my 1-20 with white sheet, said a lot of other instructions then said)
I wish you a safe trip to the United States of America.
Me: thank you.

When I stepped out, I was actually crying, a lot of people were telling me don’t worry you can try again, without realizing that I got an approval.

Guys, you need to pray, your visa is totally dependent on the person interviewing you, his/her mood and what ever they feel at that time.

A lot of people were more prepared than I was, answered better that I did, where asked more technical questions and they gave amazing answers but were also rejected.

I’m not trying to scare anyone but trust me, when you get there you’d see for yourself.

This is my first time and when I entered the hall, I was gripped with fear, but I had just one confidence, and that was God has gone before me and He was also with me.

I wish everyone success and thanks to Everyone sharing there experience.

Legally. Yes.
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by cliffton: 6:29am On Jun 06, 2021
Hello guys please who would make a better sponsor;

A cousin of mine that bears a different surname from mine (but I plan on claiming his my uncle - mum's brother) or should I rather just state that his my cousin.

Or my father in-law whose account has been recently updated for my brother inlaws visa attempt in August.

How much should the sponsors account hold normally. The program is a PhD.

I am looking towards fall entry but have not applied yet.

Also, when the school sends I-20, would they include the sponsor I indicated during my application or would I be asked to fill that out as I would want to change it since I didn't get the scholarship I filled there again.
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by teejhaay: 7:11am On Jun 06, 2021
Good morning fellow nairalanders,

How best can I defend my sponsor for a deficit of 25k?

I'm using a cooperative organisation SOA, and I plan to say " I have been granted a student loan from a cooperative organisation my mum has belonged to for the past 17 years and she has an excellent credit score that qualifies me for this loan'

I have a sponsorship letter to that effect, they have more than enough funds in it and she's also even the current president so her name and the gen sec's name are on the sponsorship letter as signatory.

Please I need the best approach to present this to make it believable. Thanks in anticipation guys
