Okay. I get it now. Thank you ma.

Randomly you get a follow up email to come for your biometrics. When that email will come nobody can predict. They are working to clear the backlog since before covid

You don't need to do anything

You and justwise are right. But you don't understand justwise.

Can you believe that you are the only one that figured this out all long? Still I got called names simply because I refused to agree on their false narrative?

This is all I have been saying!!!

No.
You try and figure out the word that you are deliberately omitting for reasons best known to you.

The whole debate (if I recall correctly) was about TV licensing.

Watching live TV without license in the UK is a crime.

Maybe you should unban ralph first.

You are unbelievable, read the last post from Regex you want to

I am still in the UK. Couldn't justify benefits to move. So we decided to stay put.

Semantics!

The law requires you to apply for exemption if you do not watch live tv. That’s the law, but your friend insists on slamming the door when the authorities come for inspection, the law be dammed!

That was the bone of contention, not whether or not it is criminal to watch tv. His preferred approach is bad behaviour at best, and criminal behaviour at its core. Yes, I said it!

It’s not about opening the door, it’s about not giving anyone a reason to knock at your door in the first place.
Applying for an exemption - which is the right and legal thing to do - takes less than 2 minutes. Now, if you do the right thing, no one will show up at your door, and you will have no reason to hide/slam the door/tell them you are not home, like my uncle Lexus grin

Icon8, as someone who followed this debate between Justwise and ralph 2 weeks ago, I can categorically tell you that I have my opinion on who would perform worst than Buhari and who among those two guys have dictatorial tendencies.

Whereas one of the guys was saying if you do not watch live Tv, and they come for you, you fill a form and they will give you an exemption.
The other guy was saying if you do not watch live Tv and they come for you, slam the door in their faces.

Both of those ‘solutions’ can be carried out.
But one of those solutions (Ralph’s) is what law abiding citizens would do.
The second solution (Justwise) sounded to me like what dodgy people would do.

One of the guys refused to agree that the formal and legal application is correct, rather slamming door is solution.

Guess who got banned? The guy who painfully went to provide us with link of how to apply (like law abiding citizens) for an exempt.

To worsen it, some dude is now even playing the race card.

I give up.
I will never blame Buhari or Kim Jong Un or General Franco again.

Dictators are everywhere.
Even in small Nairaland, see how someone is wielding power like a god. Banning people for saying what is 100% true.

Slam the door when they come. And if they go get a warrant to inspect your property, say it’s because you are black. And they don’t do it to whites.

Gospel according to Regex.

I dont remember the details of the discussion between justwise and the Ralph Lauren chap, I usually tune out when matters drag on like they did that time, but I think the chap was bent on proving his point (which I thought and still think correct). However, you've wielded the ban stick on him long enough, let him back in, and let's learn to tolerate all the various beings we've got in here as long as they're making contributions of some help to some people.

Let's not go back to thrashing out the Begum case, the wider legal/precedent issues escaped many of the people here, which was why they - and you - argued strongly that her loss of citizenship was permissible.

I'm no supporter of insulting others (which is one of the reasons I avoid altercations, especially online), but from what I can remember I dont recall insults flying unless that happened after I tuned out.

NOBODY WAS INSULTED.
All this talk about insult is a figment of Justwise’s imagination.

Only a criminally minded person will refuse to allow them. Why go through the trouble of troubling every house member, (including the kids, and grandma who only just came to the UK to holiday) with those kinds of instructions when you could simply pay £13 prr month, or LEGALLY apply for, and get an exemption?

I have problem with tv license and I don’t think one should pay it if you don’t watch BBC programs.

BBC should go commercial to generate revenue just as other channels.

I will not pay for something I don’t use, if I have a skybox and I pay my monthly subscription why should I also pay BBC because I watch sky programs?

Do not allow them into your house simple !

Their warning letters means nothing, they end up in bin.

This is what Justwise was preaching.
