Do Not Be Deceived By Buhari Or Anyone, The South East Has Access To The Sea by gartamanta: 7:11pm On Jun 11, 2021 |
During his interview by Arise Tv, Buhari said he was happy because he heard that the South South geopolitical zone had decided to remain part of Nigeria and would deny the South East access to the sea should the South East become an independent country. Do not be deceived by Buhari, even without the South South, the South East has access to the sea, here is why A lie when told for many times and for so long unchallenged transforms into a truth , one of such is the horrible falsehood institutionally unveiled and allowed to prevail by the oppressive Nigeria government backed by hausa Fulani oligarchy and Yoruba hegemony after the Nigeria /Biafra civil War that ALA IGBO is landlocked (that Igboland has no access to sea), This conspiracy was one of their strategies meant to scheme NDIGBO out of economic relevance in Nigeria.. This exposition is meant to debunk this age long lie from the pit of hell with the truth, the truth of the rich, easy to explore and harnessed potential seaport in ALAIGB O. You can easily confirm this TRUTH if you know how to read Google Earth or walking through these areas by foot and canoe or flying boat as the case may be. Meanwhile, I cannot go on without making mention of the scope of ALAIGBO (Igboland) in Nigeria. What is geographically known as Igbo land today is far smaller than what it was and legally supposed to be. As far back as 1856, Baikie- one of the earliest and credible geographers of ancient Nigeria had this to say “ Igbo homeland, extends east and west from the Old kalaber river to the bank of Kwora, Niger river, and possesses also some territory at Aboh. an Igbo clan, to the west-ward of the later stream. On the North it borders on Igara, Iigala and Akpoto, and it is separated from the sea only by petty tribes , all of which trace their origin to this great race” (Baikie, William Balfour’ Published with a sanction of her Majesty’s government in 1856). But with that infamous post-War abandoned property policy and the egregious institutional injustices in boundary adjustments and the widespread anti-Igbo gerrymandering, Igbos physically and psychologically lost their vested ancestral lands, all to the point of not caring anymore about their historical contiguity to the Atlantic, which their ancestors beheld and called the ‘Great Sea’. The psychological beat-down got so bad that some of the descendants of these Igbo ancestors (nearest to the Atlantic and now lying outside Southeast) are no longer sure whether they are Igbo or not. The worst injustice was In 1976 when the Justice Nasir Boundary Adjustment Commission made a serious and targeted agenda of carving out core Igboland territories into some neighboring States of the South-South. But they didn’t quite make an absolute success of it. They missed the southernmost Southeast lands that possess Rivers that meandered through slices of Igbo-friendly South-South territories and ended up at the Atlantic, thus unwittingly placing Igboland and its right of access to the sea under the canons of customary international law. POTENTIAL SEAPORTS IN ALAIGBO: ALL ARE CLOSER TO ATLANTIC OCEAN THAN OTHER SEAPORTS IN NIGERIA. With reference to the seaports outside the present South East and without equivocating non of them was of less nautical miles than those in the south east which were abandoned. In lay man’s understanding a nautical mile is about 1.8 kilometers. To be sure, Ikwerre land or Igweocha which bears the greater portions of the Portharcourt seaport was dredged up to 50 nautical miles to the Atlantic front through the Bonny River. Onne seaport was dredged up to 60 nautical Miles to the Atlantic and Calabar seaport was dredged 45 nautical miles to the Atlantic. Ibaka seaport is about 30 nautical miles to the Atlantic and the Lagos seaports was dredged up to about 50 nautical miles to the Atlantic. NOW CHECK IN ALAIGBO (SOUTH EAST) A. Azumiri (blue River) in Abia State, which is a large and deep body of water is 30 nautical miles to Atlantic Ocean ( strategically located for a seaport, connecting Rivers State, Akwaibom State, and Abia State) B. Obeaku- Ndoki River Is 25 nautical miles to Atlantic Ocean and is another potential seaport waiting for our use. C. Oseakwa (River Ulasi) Ihiala Anambra State that is linked to Osemoto Oguta River Imo State Is only 18 nautical miles to Atlantic Ocean with 20m deep without dredging. Do you know that Ulasi is the deepest River in Nigeria, (Strategically located connecting Anambra Imo, Delta, Beyelsa and Enugu) Why do we have Moribund Seaports in Igbo land? It’s deliberate orchestration and conspiracy to under develop Igboland instituted by the Hausa Fulani oligarchy. Knowing very well that functional seaport in igboland is very strategic for the economic development of Alaigbo A functional seaport is the only way to transform ala Igbo to economic hub of West Africa. *The economic destiny of Ndi Igbo lies in Maritime business.. * Ndi Igbo must rise now to seek for economic survival. Have you seen that the notion “ Igboland is landlocked” is a garbage from our adversaries meant to scheme ndigbo out from economic power . We must break this conspiracy and make Ala Igbo prosperous and economic hub of Africa. 36 Likes 3 Shares |

HEAR WHAT THE FORMER GOVERNOR OF IMO STATE SAID. IKEDI OHAKIM (former governor of Imo state) wrote: Please, let it be known from today that South East is not landlocked. It is only our economy that is locked. One quick way of unlocking the economy of South East is through marine business. Contrary to the impression that the South East is landlocked, the truth is that it has one of the potentially deepest seaports in the country at Osemoto/Oseokwa in Imo and Anambra States. A seaport was designated there in 1959, but the project was abandoned and the admiralty membership erased for obvious political reasons. African Development Bank (ADB) feasibility report on this is unambiguous. Oseokwa (Ihiala LGA, Anambra State) and Osemoto (Oguta LGA, Imo State) are the deepest natural harbors in the country (over 20m deep) and offer real naval and marine transportation platforms if developed. Besides, it lies only 18 nautical miles to the Atlantic Ocean and a strategic hub for the oil industry and inland dry-docks to promote trade. This potential seaport has the capacity of handling over 35 per cent of marine business in Nigeria. As a matter of fact, it was the attraction to these potentials that made my administration in Imo state to site the Oguta Wonder Lake and Resort Centre in the area to encourage the federal government and foreign investors. If Ndigbo pursue and complete the seaport, it will also open up over 3,000 square kilometers of the most fertile agricultural land that has one of the highest alluvial deposits which has been in existence for well over a million years. My pursuit of this revolutionary project attracted both national and international panic and may have cost me second tenure as governor (see “Demoracy By Military Tank” by Ethelbert Okere). This deep seaport will create over two million jobs, directly and indirectly, in marine business, oil and gas, power, education, housing, agro-food industry, entertainment, tourism, etc. With that type of setting, Igbo youths will have no need to crisscross the country in search of jobs and in the process endangering their young lives. Excerpts of his lecture delivered at the First International Chinua Achebe Conference held at the University of Nigeria Nsukka, Enugu State, on Tuesday 23 May, 2017. 17 Likes 1 Share |

Nigeria is a funny country. The same people calling south east landlocked are terribly landlocked. The north is more landlocked than the south east. If fact, their landlockness is the reason why we are called Nigerians today but they are the most vocal in calling igbos landlocked. Funny country. Also, they haven't realized that they are also a dot in a circle. A big useless dot. 50 Likes 4 Shares |

gartamanta:I don't think saying that the South East is landlocked like Lesotho is condescending or a matter that calls for argument or debate. It's just a reference to the geographical location of the zone taken out of context. Below is the map, please use this map to show how the SE has access to the ocean. 7 Likes

Vaughanlanrewaj: The map you are showing does not show the water ways of Nigeria, it doesnt even show the River Niger. If you see a map of Nigeria's water ways, you would find out that Obeaku in Abia State and Oguta River in Imo state, empty into the Atlantic Ocean and River ports can be built there. Lets not forget that the narrow Suez Canal below handles far more Shipping than Nigeria. This one is even a canal and not a River 34 Likes 2 Shares

You can go back and forth as much as you like. You can call the Yoruba' s *hegemony* as long as you like. But the truth will always remain the same, South East is LANDLOCKED In order for you to realize biafra, you will need the south south but they have made their stand clear that they are not interested in having anything to do with you. Why are they not interested? You might want to ask history. What the south-south experienced under ojuwku /the Igbo during the Civil War is enough to know what will happen if the south south allows any Union with y'all 15 Likes 2 Shares |

gidgiddy:Define "canal" you are ridiculing yourself The name is Suez Canal and NOT Suez canal There is a reason for using the capital C try and figure that one out As far as Shipping goes There is no RIGHT to have vessels come by river into your country passing THROUGH another country If there was such a right Niger, Mali etc would claim it 10 Likes |

The River Niger passes through Mali and Niger(LANDLOCKED NATIONS) before emptying in Nigeria If SE becomes a separate country from Nigeria It is NO DIFFERENT from Mali Yes the Niger flows from Mali into Nigeria But Ships cannot just arrive and start sailing from the Niger Delta to Mali through Nigeria Biafra would be on exactly the same level 13 Likes

Dont you know that if the South East becomes an independent country, it will have the power to invoke international law? Article 125 of UNCLOS(United Nations Convention On Laws Of The Sea) says: Right of access to and from the sea and freedom of transit 1. Land-locked States shall have the right of access to and from the sea for the purpose of exercising the rights provided for in this Convention including those relating to the freedom of the high seas and the common heritage of mankind. To this end, land-locked States shall enjoy freedom oftransit through the territory of transit States by all means of transport. gidgiddy:So you admit it is landlocked? That is the starting point before "INVOKING" any so called right Abi? So why are Mali and Niger not invoking this "right" Why are there no ships passing through Nigeria to Mali? Does this "Right" prescribe HOW access is to be granted? If SE is Landlocked by Nigeria Nigeria is well within its rights to grant access VIA LAGOS You cannot dictate to anyone 13 Likes |

gidgiddy:Well There is no right to access the sea THROUGH the route you LIKE or WANT Being landlocked is an important issue Nigeria can choose to grant access ANYWHERE in Nigeria e.g Lagos or Onne or through a rail line like the one to Niger at the same time reserving the right to inspect cargo Of course such a theoretical right can only be exercised if both countries are legally not at war. 8 Likes |

The point is a very simple one if Biafra breaks away by WAR there will be no access to the sea. Does it not make sense in planning separation to contemplate that we will remain neighbours? The vision must look beyond the process to the outcome. Every effort must be made to ensure peaceful separation 6 Likes |

If we are honest with each other not enough has happened since 2015 to justify the stance of IPOB. Whatever it is IPOB is quarrelling with it did not start in 2015 Yes it is said that those who make peaceful change impossible make violent change inevitable The question is has IPOB engaged any political methods e.g . contesting elections or canvassing elected officials? To just wake up one day and start shouting Biafra is quite crazy. Still if that is what Ibos want ...fine. They need to go about it in a civilized and orderly way or take up arms 7 Likes |

If Biafra succeeded and becomes a soverign state, most likely other regions will seceed especially, West and South South. But what you are failing to see is the fact that, the reason why your tribe wants to leave Nigeria is Freedom, and for the sake of same freedom, no tribe will allow itself to be joined with another tribe to for a Nigeria like entity. And again Ala Igbo is landlocked . My advise is that IPOB should pursue a Biafra state in it's entirety and forget South South being a part of it. They won't join. Don't be greedy about the access to the sea they have or the oil they have more quantity than you. It's will affect you major goal of having a free Biafra Focus on your real goal, you can't win all battles expecially this one you want Independence and still want to steal other tribes resources join am 2 Likes |

But Ships cannot just arrive and start sailing from the Niger Delta to Mali through Nigeria Nigeria is not obliged to permit that but it may be obliged to provide "reasonable" alternatives subject to independent arbitration These agreements are always subject to force majeure, UGM etc clauses .which abound A rail line such as the one to Niger from any point of the host's choosing would be "reasonable" of course security and "right to self defense" can be used just as in Israel to delay , frustrate etc All of these adverse scenarios can be minimized by a less acrimonious break. With that in mind one questions the rhetoric of Nnamdi Kanu and many others especially against the Fulani and to a fair extent the Yoruba. He does not seem to have a vision for peaceful coexistence after separation 4 Likes |
