Seems like you wana spend the rest of your life as a banker that you are willing to let go of 2 years work experience when you can move to bank B as experience hire(BE/ABO)? My broda there is no future in banking. Many of the things done now will be automated in like 5/10 years so there basically is no future or "career path" in future banking. Also promotion is very hard so work experience is key. My advice, stay in Bank A (especially if its a tier 1 bank). Get experience, then get certified in the work your new unit is gona be doing. Believe me if u get a professional certificate you can move btwn units 9r banks but if you think u gona stay in banking for a long time... hmmm. These days 10 years cannot even get you SBO now imagine if you aim is to be SM and above. Your work for the bank has to be major key if u planning a career. Major key in the sense that tech or cheap labor won't be able to replace you later. |

| Re: Bank A Or Bank B ??? by aujile(m): 2:11pm On Jun 15, 2021 |
Run for your life! Like you stated bank A does not have career path and you will be at the same level all your life, 200k may be enough for you at this time (just 24 years). Time will come when it won't be enough. Please move on now that you are still very young and start over with bank B that has a career path, at least you will grow... Be wise! I'm guessing bank A is GTB harley88: |

In every organisation, switching from one unit to another is not based on your interest, it's based on the qualities you are able to show. I dont know how it is in banks but I know people change units there, just finish yourself there and see that you get your goal. Then the only move you can start thinking of is from one bank to another in a higher position, not from ET to an uncertain role. |

harley88:Key rules in Nigeria banking industry......... Never do a parallel grade movement between banks, always take at least a grade higher at the next bank with significant pay rise; Never stay more than 3yrs in a bank except promotion/notches is guaranteed like Stanbic IBTC & Providus Bank currently, where you get promoted at least once in 3yrs, if your performance is good; If you are not in Treasury/E-Business/IT related roles, keep moving to other banks to rise through the ladder(that ladder is now like civil service); Don't be afraid to take up opportunities in "small banks" due to perceived job security in "Big Banks", I'm sure Diamond Bank has taught a lot of bankers a good lesson; Operations Staff both at branches and HQ are the most vulnerable, don't be comfortable in such unit. My Advice........... Stay in bank A; identify, write professional exams & learn skills that are relevant in banking (especially in the units I mentioned above) if you desire to continue your career in banking industry. Banking is sweet if you are in roles that are in high demand, you can easily rise to a managerial position in few years. Bank B will make you sign a bond of at least 3yrs for that car(most likely a new Kia Rio), you will have to pay the prorated balance whenever you are leaving before the end of the bond period. If you have to move to Bank B, it should be as an experience hire. Now is the time to acquire skills that can easily get you to SBO before 30yrs of age. Invest in yourself now & you'll be glad you did in few years to come. Cheers. |

| Re: Bank A Or Bank B ??? by famopompy(m): 2:25pm On Jun 15, 2021 |
Hello, I am a banker. The fact is, irrespective of the department you are, just relax and grow. 20 months experience is too valid to just throw away when you use another 6 - 8 months and get ABO in another bank. Bro, don't accept it. I know the bank that comes with the Car is Access and the truth is the banking School is so tough. Don't jeopardize your job to start as entry level again. |
| Re: Bank A Or Bank B ??? by being(m): 2:27pm On Jun 15, 2021 |
Of course you said it yourself how are you sure when you get to the new bank, you won't be sent to the branch which you know is worse. And you should know in access bank, your stress levels is much higher than in other banks. The car incentive you are talking about is a liability trap. In access bank, you can easily drop from TS due to various flimsy reasons. You would also need to look for millions worth of deposit before you have an offer. Just know you don't want to go to access esp not to go and start over in a branch (sic) . STAY PUT in your UBA & look for opportunities to other banks at higher level or other departments. Common don't be foolish and be wicked to yourself. harley88: |

There are lots of unknowns with Bank B, plus you will have reduced income flow while you wait for the unknown....there are chances it may turn out better, but don’t lose sight of the chance, it may even turn out worst.....so, why the sacrifice for an unknown outcome? Better the devil you know, than the angel you don’t know, goes a popular saying. Stay with what you know, but continue to strive for a position including another place of work, where you will find happiness and fulfillment. |
| Re: Bank A Or Bank B ??? by BrizzyA(m): 2:29pm On Jun 15, 2021 |
Dude don't leave FBN for Access. Forget the car, na scam you'll be paying 6m+ for 5 years. Don't lemme talk about Access Bank pressure serf, you'll just fall into depression after 6 months. Promotion scarce for Banking industry, hold your experience for armpit tight, atleast in a year or two you suppose chop ABO. But if you move, na 4/5years before ABO oh. Take professional certifications or go for your Masters. Go work for 5 years, save and go for your MBA abroad... From there misplace. Access no be Bank you go run to for refuge o. Zenith and UBA no be bank to take start career (money wise). Forget FUGAZ BS, I'd pick a SIBTC over any FUGAZ any day and twice everyday. |

oluwaahmed:It depends on whs Bank B has to offer, I'm speaking from experience, Zenith bank can keep you in that department for 8 years with no salary increment or change of department, same boring thing everyday. |
| Re: Bank A Or Bank B ??? by DUNKA(m): 2:33pm On Jun 15, 2021 |
OSCARTM:from ET to SBO in 5 years (he is now 25 years)? Not possible now. Let us reason ET,ABO,BO then SBO. That is assuming there is not another step between ET and ABO. Except his papa na the MD he can never make SBO in 5 years ![]() |

The bank-B ET job comes with a car. Common that's Access Bank Entry level. Choose Access Bank bro. |

DUNKA:I repeat "Banking is sweet if you are in roles that are in high demand", you don't need to know the MD, just have a good network of friends in other banks, it's a strategy that has worked over and over again. Go through Linkedin, you will see how some bankers have been changing jobs due to influx of professionals to Canada & UK. While I don't expect you to believe, I know someone that was ET in 2015, he's now an AM. I also know someone else that worked in 4 banks in the last 6yrs. I maintain again that Banking is sweet! |

harley88: GUY!! Bank B is Access Bank. The car you are talking about is not free. It is a LOAN! If you apply to another BANK from Bank A, you will definitely be given the next level as an ABO. |
| Re: Bank A Or Bank B ??? by simonsays: 2:55pm On Jun 15, 2021 |
Remain in bank A. Save and start a business as a side hustle. Bank job is not something you can solely depend on. You can be laid off anytime. |

Don't go back to entry level Look for another bank that will give you ABO at the minimum based on experience |
