A VIO official is battling for his life after he was hit by a truck, Reports.

From The Information Gathered By , Mr Udunobun Otaigbe, an official of the Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS), otherwise known as VIO, is the Truck Timing Unit Head of the DRTS on the Kugbo stretch of the Abuja-Keffi road.

He was hit at Karu bridge by a truck with a Guinness label driven by one Wilson Aniete.

The driver of the Mitsubishi truck with registration number AAA 477 XB had allegedly flouted the truck timing regulation on the road and was trying to evade arrest when the incident happened on Friday, June 11.

There has been a standing FCT ministerial directive that heavy-duty trucks should not ply the road in the mornings and evenings when workers were either going to work or returning home after work hours.

The truck driver was stopped for flouting the directive and he parked by the roadside. However, he is alleged to have suddenly started the vehicle and rammed into the officer who had turned his attention to other things.

Eyewitnesses chased the truck driver who couldn't go far because of traffic congestion.

Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other security personnel arrested the driver and took him to the Karu Police Division.

Meanwhile, the VIO official, who sustained a broken bone on the left leg and bruises on his face and hands, was taken to the hospital and admitted to the intensive care unit of Asokoro District Hospital, Abuja.

Even if one pappers are correct they would look for offences at all costd to nail the motorists who choose to update vehicle's papers and not result to bribe.

speedy recovery to the I'll but it serves them right some times for all the unnecessary monies they will force out of your pocket for unnecessary things. I know how much I've spent on that road on vio/frsc.

B/w 10am to 3pm I guess, then at night. Nonsense & ingredient.
Rail transportation will solve most of the loads heavy duty trucks are transporting within or inter- state.
Hualeage is a very big manace to our roads, one has to be very careful when driving in our road either within the city or inter-state, truck drivers are a big threat.
Anyway I wish the VIO official a very quick recovery & the truck drive to do his days in jail.

Its a menace so why suppoting them in your first paragraph?

Its a known fact that most of those trucks are outdated with worn out brakes, the best extreme measure is to give them routes to ply mostly on the outskirts of town or give them time mostly in the night to ply blc its very dangerous driving side by side with a goods laden heavy duty truck.

Sometimes the reasons for all the road conflict is because these Uniform men do not know their jobs or just try to victimise people.

In fact, that truck is not a heavy duty truck, going by the rules, he was doing an illegal work. That is a light truck for common deliveries like provision, water etc.
