Sitting on the German floor

German floor is not for load bearing. I think it should have been dug and a proper footing done. Still, I'm not a structural engineer; this is just my opinion.

What is the implication of this?
If the load is much on it, the floor may go down

Update

As I was about responding to your first message, my phone went off. I’m sorry it took a while to attend to this.

I’ve reached out to Chekitaut and got his own side of the story.

According to him, here’s the chronology order of event between you:

1. 600 bags of cement (Lafarge) ordered 3 weeks ago

2. Due to accessibility issue, the cement was delivered in batches. First batch 300 bags was delivered.

NB: He didn’t tell me you had an agreement to do it this way.

3. The 2nd installment was expected from a delivery made to another distributor he joined with to lift a truck.
However, due to the cost of transloading the cement he couldn’t take the cement. The truck was charging extra N250/bag from Ewekoro.

4. The total amount involved in this transaction is N2,160,000. Breakdown below:

- Cost per bag = N3,600
- Cost of 300 bags delivered = N1,080,000
- Cost of 300 bags undelivered = N1,080,000
- Total Amount refunded so far = N700,000
This was made in 2 installments (N500k and N200k).

- Outstanding Balance = N380,000

5. He’s expecting the balance from the cement distributor he’s partnering on this and promised to pay back within the week.

I’ll plead with you to allow some time to sort this out. I’m in the same business and I can tell you cement ordering these days is a huge risk.
He didn’t deny the transaction. I hope you can give him a little more time to find an amicable resolve.

Please feel free to share your own part of the story to confirm if the probe above is correct and for learning purpose sir. cool

We are here to learn from each other and help others become better.

______

Let me share my experience sometimes in January 2021 with you sir.

I bought some qty of cement directly from Lafarge but I couldn’t deliver them to the site where it’s needed in ogijo because of the cost of transportation.

I did all I can to get the cement to ogijo but all effort proved abortive so I asked the distributor to help me sell off and make a refund for the order. They said they can’t refund but can help me deliver to a cement supplier nearest to me so that I can pick up the cement from her shop.

This was done and for almost 2 months, I was busy looking for someone to buy off the cement from the supplier. She wasn’t willing to help me sell or pay me for the cement because she knew it’d be huge loss for me to transload the cement to my area.

I even shared the post here that I have 100 bags of cement to get rid off. I tried selling to @folmus but the additional cost of transportation became the major issue.
This wasn’t because I don’t have people to buy. I was even in need of several bags of cement at the XL6 Trillion House project but the cost of moving the cement from the suppliers shop in sagamu to Lagos would make no sense.

For 2 months, I couldn’t sell off the 100 bags of cement even though I was able to fulfill order for over 2,000 bags of cement in other sites. Neither could I recover my money from the cement distributor.

I had to sell off below market price to get back some of my money.

This is in no way trying to put up a defense here for Chekitaut. I just need to let you understand the challenge of this trade sometimes.

Thanks for your understanding sir. Hoping for a positive resolve.

Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow. It empty today of its strength.

Yesterday, a dump truck delivering sand to my project site had brake failure and climbed on one of my site generator.

The driver who was very perplexed begged and begged and asked for mercy.

I smiled and told him “Thank God, no one died. We won’t be here to discuss repair of generator that was destroyed. That might just be the end of the project.”

He didn’t deliberately climbed on the generator. It was an accident and the generator stopped the truck from causing a colossal damage.

I told him to go and never to worry about the cost of fixing the generator. Be grateful God used the generator to prevent a major disaster.

In life, a lot of people hardly realize that we receive a great deal more than we give, and that it is only with gratitude that life becomes rich.
_______

When we worry, we generally worry about tomorrow and what will go wrong. This does not help us face tomorrow or reduce it’s sorrow. It only empty today of its strength.
_______

When we think about it, we’d realize we only get anxious due to loss of control.
No one can control what the weather will be like, we can’t control whether those we respect and love will continue to live up to expectation.

We have no control over so many things and that leads us to worrying about the unknown.
However, we have control over how we chose to respond when life take a twist and who we chose to become.

I’d do same if it was me.

I recently ordered goods (cement, iron rods) running into several millions in my ongoing project, payments were made on delivery.

Not a penny was released to the suppliers until after we counted the goods supplied and was sure the order was successfully completed before making payment.

I’m talking about goods coming from Lagos to Ibadan here.
- Truck load of cement.
- Over 28 tons of Iron rods.

Yet no single commitment was made to the suppliers.
_________

Even my marine board supplier was only given N5,000 mobilization to deliver 80 boards.
_________

I trust them BUT just like I shared in my last post “We can’t control whether those we respect and trusted will continue to live up to expectations.”

Thanks N3xt, below are my responses to narration;

1. 600 bags of cement (Lafarge) ordered 3 weeks ago

Yes i spoke with him on Wednesday 26th MAY that i needed 600 bags of Lafarge cement to be used for the plastering of my ongoing house project, and we agreed on 3600/bag delivery to site. He requested for full payment upfront which i said no problem due to trust, I made the payment the second day Thursday 27th MAY and he promised to deliver the cement (600 BAGS) on or before Monday 31st MAY. Herecomes 31st MAY he failed to deliver the cement and he started with excuses not until Thursday 3rd June before he was able to deliver 300 bags. I asked him i can see only 300 bags here and he said yes that he will deliver the remaining 300 bags the next day. I called him 3 days after the first delivery and he keeps telling me i will deliver tomorrow everytime, INFACT HE HAS TOLD ME ON TWO DIFFERENT TIMES THAT HE IS CURRENTLY DOING TRANSLOADING THAT HE WILL SOON REACH MY SITE BUT ATLAST IT WAS ALL LIES AS NO DELIVERY WAS MADE. THERE WAS A DAY I STILL CALLED HIM ABOUT THE DELIVERY HE TOLD ME HE WILL CALL ME BACK THAT THE GUYS SHOULD BE ON THERE WAY TO MY SITE FOR DELIVERY BUT I CANT SEE ANYTHING. So when i discovered that he was just playing on my intelligent regarding the delivery then i told him to refund me which he promised he will do the following but guess what he started story again and brought the issue of one distributor or the other which he did not tell me before he collected money. HE HAS PROMISED ME SEVERALLY THAT HE WILL PAY ME ON A PARTICULAR DATE BUT ALL TURNED OUT TO BE LIE.

2. Due to accessibility issue, the cement was delivered in batches. First batch 300 bags was delivered.
NB: He didn’t tell me you had an agreement to do it this way.

There is no where he made mention/we agreed of delivering the cement in batches. Regarding the site accessibility, this is just an excuse from him, he knows my site very well because he has delivered granite for me in the past and i still remind him not to bring long truck to my site because long truck can only enter the estate but can not enter my street inside the estate. Infact the first 30tons granite he brought for me he had to dump the granite at the entrance of my street which is like six houses to my site in the street because the truck is long. He then used the HOWO 30tons for second delivery which he dump to my site directly.

3. The 2nd installment was expected from a delivery made to another distributor he joined with to lift a truck.
However, due to the cost of transloading the cement he couldn’t take the cement. The truck was charging extra N250/bag from Ewekoro.

Reason why i said he is a liar, please ask him if he tells me anything about any distributor when we are negotiating, and when he requested for upfront payment, then why bringing in distributor issue when it is time to refund me.

4. The total amount involved in this transaction is N2,160,000. Breakdown below:

- Cost per bag = N3,600

YES VERY TRUE

Seriously i didnt expect him to attach my payment to any distributor as no any distributor was made mention during negotiation and payment, it is when it is time for refund that he brought in distributor. Therefore, I have no business with any distributor. Since he has promised to pay within the week no problem the week is coming to an end, but he has promised me severally but still default. Hopefully this time he will fulfil his promise.

You did not give me the direct contact of the distributor you only said you can give me his contact which i rejected immediately because i dont have any business with any distributor as i did not negotiate and pay to any distributor and you did not made mention of any distributor during negotiation and payment. So why are you bringing in the issue of distributor when it is time for you to refund me.

Do you know the delays/setback you have caused to my project with this your attitude.
