From beginning to the end of the write-up, nothing about the actual fare was mentioned.
And that is the main thing Nigerians are waiting to read.

What manner of Journalism is this?!

Most journalists in Nigeria of today are graduates who could not get any job anywhere else, likewise teachers. So don't expect anything good from them.

But seriously, pay 2000 naira to Abeokuta from Lagos is crazy.
I will rather join God is Good and pay him 2000 to take me to Abeokuta

We have a huge loan to pay back and you want salaries of railway workers to be increased. Yet, you’re complaining about the fares. So, where do you want FG to get the money from?

Aren't Nigeria senators still the highest paid in the world? Or that one no affect?

You earn steady N50k from government you're complaining; what happens to millions of us that don't get a dime? Your eye go soon clear if you lose that N50k and experience what it takes to be a 'grinder'

So how do you want them to repay the Chinese loan??

Don’t mind the dolt. Besides train is not the cheapest manner of transportation in the world.

They want them to charge 50 kobo so the loan is not repayable and the project becomes a failure then they get to nut over the matter.

If they can’t afford N2,500 then they can go and take sole.

No it’s not actually. The thing is our people want free things and don’t want to pay. A lot of us have absolutely no idea how things work in the other world. Train fares are also on the high side in UK, at least I know that. Without chnaging this mentality, we can’t go anywhere

Please tell them o! Youths be displaying their ignorance on the net!. Cheapest indeed. People wey never escort person reach airport dey comment say na cheapest form of transport!

Very poor reporting. I was expecting to see the figures for the fare. I was even more shocked that the inconclusive report was published by The Punch.

The government should exit the sector as an investor and only regulate it. This habit of developing infrastructure with public funds only to concession it to individuals while splitting profits is madness and unsustainable.
michlins:
Government should be handled as business. Let private investors come in and charge what they feel is right. If you fancy the accident prone Nigeria roads, take it.

This project is being financed with loans which will be paid off from the business. It's not business as usual

the government has no business in running financial venture. They can regulate and ensure that the interest of the masses is protected.

The financial sector will enploy masses and pay taxes while making returns to the government.

The inefficiency of Nigeria airways and nnpc is still fresh

Just imagine, the masses are not complaining of prices, it's the union that will request for salary increments and better welfare.

Some days back, some good Nigerians were mocking the trains, saying it was refurbished and old.. that saner climes have upgraded to bullet trains.. The patriotic Nigerians didn't know that a bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto in Japan which is a 4 hours ride costs about 13,320 Japanese yen which is about N49,960. This same patriots would insult Nigeria if a bullet train was provided. They'd say, why would the government provide a train of 50k for poor and suffering Nigerians.

Thank you.

During our primary school days. We were taught that rail transportation is the cheapest means of transportation.
So because rail transportation is the cheapest it should become cheaper then Keke abi?

Compare the price of Nigeria rail transport with any other country of your choice. You mustn't complain over every single thing.

So this article of roughly 10 paragraphs is what's difficult for you to skim through and see where fare was talked about. If the quoted below isn't about fare, please tell me what else it's about.

He said, “Railway, all over the world, is a social service renderer. The railway is never taken as a profit-making outfit. It serves as the infrastructural mainstay and epicentre of any countries transport economy.

“And it must always be running a tariff regime that is very affordable. So, the idea of fixing a humongous tariff is like indirectly making the train services more of service exclusively for the high-net-worth people. This is number one.
You ended up doing the same thing he complained of.. Oya now we know the fare is on the high side.. How much is it? Was the price stated in the whole write up?
