Great point... Twitter, Facebook won't bring about any change, only those in power can do that.

Both of you are correct!
That's two different ways his statement can be understood.

But to be on a positive side, follow no. 2, but no. 1 truly expresses the reality of things —the way things be for this country.

I don talk my own.

Isn't that the essence of the post? To join politics and push for change?

You can't change a political system that has never worked.

Is Africa cultural makeup suited for democracy?

Why has democracy failed across Africa?

Osinbajo is one of the few Leaders around that truly wants the progress of the country.
He is one of the few around that always speak the truth and encourage development.
Youth's complete participation in politics will no doubt catalyze a change that we've never seen before. A leader like Osinbajo will always be willing to pass the Baton of leadership to the Youths.

Sometimes I wonder the kinda leaders we produce.

Na now I believe bubu's administration has affected many, thus, making them to reason like their master..

Well, let me pretend he wasn't the one that said it.
Those in power will bring change into reality not Twitter, Facebook et al.

Where was he wrong with his statement please?

Pls erase the opinion of what people say that election is always rigged, let me tell you the real fact,Northerners vote more than south because of south proof that they are educated not knowing that most are educated illiterate, but those Hausa and less privileges do go out and vote, some of our professors will sit at home watching the result of election or sitting down somewhere and read newspaper

Let's see how 2023 will be..
But anyway..lots of people are voting because of bias... 2023 election should not be based on tribe but how competent the person is.. politics is complicated tho..and I'll leave it to the people who know it best

Why suddenly every Nigerian politician is talking and afraid of the social media, even our darling VP....is there something they are not telling us?

Is it not this same APC that used the social media to lambast GEJ and campaign in 2015? They used thesocial media in there occupy nigeria protest in 2012...Now, they say youths should join politics when those over 70 and 80 yrs dont want to retire. Some are even 60 yrs claiming to be youths, how then do they expect the real youths to join politics!

Papa God help this country!
the fool forgot that social media did help and his lifeless president win the last elections...with social media they were able to spread their misinformation and lies which supported their win against the last administration..

Let the fools who voted for this guy and buhari enjoy their leadership..

Youths join politics when entry form alone is #30m or above? How many youths have seen #1m before? Only God can save this country.

Stop spreading lies

There is no political party that ask for money before you can join.

Don't mix things up.

Which mumu talk be this?

Social media has elevated more than 10% of Nigerian Youths out of poverty which the government of Buhari /Osibanjo has no clue on how to tackle.

Without social media Nigerian Youths will be in darkness.

He has a point tho, Social media Only elevated 10%, But Politics can elevate 90%

Just take a look at china, The Chinese government Elevated over 850million people out of poverty in the pace of 10-15 years, He did not achieve this through Social media, But through politics

I don't like Politicians, Buhari, Osibanjo and co, But I stand with him on this one,

And those 10% you claimed Social media elevated in Nigeria, I bet most of them got their fame through twerking online, And exposing their bodies, That's what 50% of Nigerian girls do online now, While Their male counterparts are Doing comedy skits which is usually based on sexualising the female

This won't change anything in the real world, Only politics can make us have a true CHANGE

A call to join the wagon of thieves, looters and saboteurs to further worsening the sorry state of this nations.

The developed countries are not wooing their youths to join politics but they create institutions and conducive environments that allow those youths to maximize their potentials

None of Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gate, Jack Dorsey, Tim cook etc joined politics before they built inventions that went global and reshaped course of humanity.

All we're demanding is that these confused leaders should build sane institutions and design policies that'll breed ground for we the youths to maximize our potentials.

To start with, Nigeria is not developed countries and your realities and challenges are not the same so where is the sense in the baseless comparisons.?

The so-called developed societies worked on their societies and fine-tune their democracies for hundreds of years, they did not get there overnight or in 60 years. Work on your own unique Nigerian situations and realities.

All they asked you to do is join politics, participate and have a say per how to run your own life and manage your own future, but you are sitting here lamenting and telling stories about developed societies.

They have TECH billionaires in the US, but they also have smart, brilliant and competent young politicians casting, senatorial and congressional votes to influence public policies and programs and the last time I checked, we have brilliant TECH minds in Nigeria, 2 Nigerian youths just sold Paystack for $200 Million, Nigeria is the Number one TECH country in Africa and they don't sit all day on Twitter talking meaningless rubbish or barking like bingo all day against the government that they are too lazy to participate in or to influence to better their own lives.?

Since you've ceded governance to the old folks in charge and refuse to participate, you can not turn around to criticize or say anything about the old folks in power.

You can not have it both ways..

We the youths have alot of work to do if truly we want a better Nigeria but unfortunately, the current set of youths are only interested in social media trolling instead of engaging themselves in real politics. I hope we retreat our steps and face the reality so we can make a new Nigeria together. Thank you for the encouragement Mr Vice President
