Graphics is more stressfull

I completed my nysc program last year, life didn't actually go they way i thought it would, i spent bout 6 months searching for employment, i finally got a job in a bank microfinance organisation..i was able to secure the job through a sister.

Being working there now for almost 8 month now, truth be told the salary is not worth the stress and hazard we face in the field, apart from not having time for anything else because i have to get to work 7:30am and close 6-7pm.

The salary is 65k but after removing from tax,pension and all,my take home is 54k.

Now I'm considering resigning, I've started learning graphic designing on YouTube, so that i won't be idle, I'm planning to save up for some months before resigning.

Apart from the job being too stressful, I've had alot of witch craft and crazy experiences, trust me its not being easy.

Please am i making the best decision resigning because i don't have any other job, my PlanB is the graphic designing i just started learning, spent most of my savings purchasing a brand new laptop.

I don't know with resigning will be ok considering the situation of our country.

Bro, Nigeria is tough o. For some, they are looking for that 54k job right now. What do you want to do exactly with graphic design? Wait on clients to come and pay you 2k for a design?

Hold on to that job and find a way of deepening your skills in any areas of Micro Finance. Be it SME, writing business proposals, financing a start up, treasury and accounting. From there, you could even apply to some NGOs and INGOs committed to supporting SMEs.

Most young people these days hardly have patience to work. I have the feeling that the job is taking away your freedom or you are not meeting up with the demands of your job and boss.

Thousands won't blink to take up a 50k job in Nigeria now. Please stay put in your job and give it your best.

To Op, I got MSc degree in one of the best Universities in central Europe by using mostly internet and YouTube was my best teacher. If you know how to make use of that thing called 'google', you can learn virtually everything. Check out udemy also, it's really cheap to buy courses there.

The moment you are afraid to jump, that's when you should jump. The greatest fear limiting our potentials in lives is the fear of the unknown. you are spending 14 hours for a job of net salary of 54k naira. Na wa o. Save a little you know that can sustain you, and go and grab those skills that will give you an edge over others. It's increasingly competitive everyday.

I don't think you can learn any tangible thing from YouTube, graphics designing is a broad field and YouTube videos are not in-depth.they are just like Google to get information about something,you can't use/watch the videos to become a professional in graphics designing,there is so many things you need to know and YouTube videos won't cover that.youtuber are also hustling for money, that's why they make their videos short and brief.i know how many years I spent in learning different tools used for graphics design.Graphic design is a good skills

Just like the first person said, don't quit your job rather keep looking for a better offer. Learning a graphic design is a good skill and make sure you keep learning till you achieve your purpose. Ask yourself, if you quit the job, how do you foot your bills? Have a great day

Start making contacts and expanding your network using your present job. Surely there are bigger better paying companies in the industry you're in. Use your network and experience and go up the ladder. Your present company is the platform you'll use to penetrate big offices, open doors, get phone numbers, expand your network. Sell/Market yourself to bigger companies, talk in person to them. Talk nicely. Start doing that now. No time. Package your CV well. That's your plan to move up the chain. Pursue it aggressively. Do that now and see outcome before you begin to consider resignation.

Have you done your research on graphic design before you go into it? Is it profitable? I don't know I'm just asking you. Hope you've done your homework.

Stay a while and save more money. Try to start earning from the graphics designing and see what the income looks like, it must be able to sustain you.

Keep the job but learn to program. I mean Computer programming. Huge shortage of programmers world wide. This is the only place you can have the advantage .

By this time next year you should be able to quit if you start today. Use codeacademy and freecodecamp... And read the book how to learn so you understand the curve.

Get that graphic design skill first, then try doing some jobs, see how lucrative it will be for you before you consider resigning. It's not easy outside.

Stay on your stressful job.

My brother you're on the right path, like seriously what would 54k do for you in this current economy, don't waste your time on that job my friend, for now continue learning and horning your skills at graphics designing and once you feel you're good to some level, open a gig on fiverr or any other freelancing website, after 2-3 months, nobody will tell you to quit that slave job. Trust me this is exactly what I did back in 2016 and today I'm better for it, for me I didn't even start any job, I rejected all those low life job offers and instead went on YouTube and downloaded videos on graphica, I focused on cartoons then, I learnt Photoshop, AI and how to draw cartoons all on YouTube my brother and after like 4 months then I opened my first fiverr account and the rest is history.

I feel ur pain bro because I work in MFB.
Don't resign but stay put till you learn all the skills you want. As for me am planning establishing sth related to MFB. Thanks to the certification i just finished it has open my eyes to lots of opportunities in the industry. Pls don't resign yet until u have learn all the skills you want.

I barely drop comments on NL, but because I fully understand what you are passing through, I will comment to add to what has been said by others.

First, no matter what work you do, if you don't have peace of mind there and you don't enjoy it then you will never grow rather it becomes a ritual you have to do.

Since you have already highlighted that you want to leave, my advice is to save some money that will take you through the tough times after your resignation (6months max) that is considering your expenses. The skill you are learning is a good one but also when you are now free from stress you will see more useful skills along that path that you will learn also that can help you earn more.

Finally, I wish you the best and never stop believing in yourself.

Never you quit a job tht pays u 50k and above in this country until u have saved or invested alot to do so. No friend or family, I repeat no friend or family fvcking cares about you. You will understand this line the moment u quit that job. Better respect urself n stay back there first whilst u package ur cv an apply for other baking jobs with better pay elsewhere

Bros my advice to you is this; Life is tough, It's not easy anywhere. Your plan B is good but it not yet tasted. I advise that you hold on to plan B, keep improving and expanding. Use your Sunday and Saturdays for it. Continue developing it untill you it's big enough to pay your bills, then you can resign

bro since you are having this present job.thou it might be stressful because of this so call paymaster(oga)that never want the staff to be as comfortable as they are.so keep it for now,but make sure you build yourself to make certain mark and then become the best you can be.

No put too much mind for graphics money no de am like that..and a million and one person's are graphics designers... learn ui/ux, 3d animation with blender or maya, inbox me I'll show you how to download courses on this field. But the graphics knowledge will help you in these fields though

I get what you're saying bro, but with the little knowledge I've been able to acquire With this online tutorials it's being helpful...like I'm being able to have to basic knowledge bout adobe illustrator ..Even if I'll need to develop myself more on it knowing the basics would help not make things too difficult.
P.s: they ain't just videos, i have the ones of 3-4hrs
