It so happened that the police missed a whole bunch of facts on a dead body and crime scene that it has taken a third party doctor to point it out.

Different experts handle different aspects of investigations. Forensic experts will definitely see a lot more than regular first responder police officers.
Same way the CCTV footage will be subjected to analysis of professional IT guys.
This is over and beyond the norm. It's a high profile case.
