Good day to u all,

I actually applied for B2 visa and and interview date was scheduled July 12, 2021, I received the below mail that my appointment has been cancelled

Dear Applicant,

Your regular B1/B2 visa appointment at the US Embassy has been cancelled. As of October 13, 2020, the United States Embassy in Abuja and the United States Consulate in Lagos resumed certain immigrant and nonimmigrant visa services, including immigrant visas in the IR1, CR1, IR2, CR2, and IR3 classes and nonimmigrant visas in the F, M, and J classes. While the Embassy and Consulate aim to process cases as soon as practicable, there is likely to be increased wait times for completing such services due to substantial backlogs. The MRV fee is valid and may be used to schedule an interview appointment in the country where it was purchased within one year of the date of payment. If you have an urgent matter and need to travel immediately, please follow the guidance provided at http://cdn.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ to request an emergency appointment.

Please note this appointment was cancelled by the US Embassy and cannot be reversed by call center agents. Students and Emergency applicants are not affected by this cancellation.

Sincerely,
Help Desk

Kindly advice me on wat to do please, do I need to pay for visa fee again, don't really know wat to do

Me: When i was younger i suffered series of depression but i was able to overcome it through the help of a psychologist which sparked my interest to study the course so that I can help a lot more people and the society to overcome depression of any kind.

Me: Well, I applied to 4 schools. I got 3 admits and I never heard from 1.

Me: My uncle will pay the balance after the scholarship.

VO: Who is your sponsor?

VO: Why is your uncle sponsoring you and not your parents?
Me: Since the death of my father some years ago, my uncle has taken it upon himself to sponsor my academics which he has been the one sponsoring me from secondary school and he's fully sponsoring me on this one.

Check your account to verify.
I have reports that some F-1 Applicants received same email and SMS too.
Note: they applied for F-1 not B1/B2.
The email address had a lot of resemblance with the original.

Please, check your account to confirm if your appointment is active.
Don't let this opportunity pass you by. Double check please

If you can, email the school to separate it to avoid complications.

Why dont you link your father's death to the cause of the your depression as he was your first coach and made you love soccer.

Also for why this school, your answer isn't satisfactory cos the other schools has publications and you're an undergraduate, publications might not really interest you. The soccer scholarship is a good reason, you can also research more on the school psychology department, perhaps they have a program on sports psychology which is interesting to you as sport psychologists are important to any athlete.

Also prepare for what you will do with this degree when you return to Naija. Or what this degree will do for you.

Also I think your uncle being a pastor is irrelevant at this stage. Focus on what he does for money and how stable it is, cos that is where he will get the funds to sponsor you.

This is just my opinion. Goodluck

Good afternoon everyone,

I tried to pick date for my F2 visa appointment yesterday but I saw January 20th, 2022 as the earliest date. That really scared me.

I really don't know what to do.

Should I pick the date and apply for emergency. I know Lagos is not attending to any emergency application.

OR

Should keep monitoring and hoping they would release some dates in July or August.

Kindly share your opinions. Thank you.

THANK YOU, SIR, THAT MEANS I WILL HAVE TWO VALID PASSPORT WITH ME WHEN TRAVELLING ?

Nope. Your old passport becomes invalid once you get the new one. But you should staple the old passport to the new one when you travel as it will contain your visa.

PLEASE NOTE: You can only use your old passport to book an appointment and must be 100% sure d new one will be ready before your interview date (very risky). If your interview date comes before the new passport is ready, YOU CAN'T go to the embassy with a passport that does not have at least 6months to expiration.

This isn’t true. The 6- month validity is only applicable when you fly, not at time of visa application.

An F2 visa application is not an emergency, wait until January 2022. You don’t want to appear desperate.

Strange… this is the US CBP note on the 6-month validity… Nigeria is on the exempt list. Either way, OP clearly needs to have a new passport.
