The best step you can take is to get it published.

Having a published journal makes scholarship application less difficult.

Is someone not supposed to paid I.e like a royalty when people read journals, why scholarship?

I agree with the fact that the system is quite cumbersome, but we need to try something new.
Federalism which is probably the best for us has been messed up by tribalism, religion and most especially the northern hegemony. We need to try something new . Yes, Lugard and and the Brits were wrong in bringing us together; however we've come too far to go out separate ways. Let's try something new
If we try that system here, we will conduct referendum daily.

In the 1st Republic, we tinkered with the Parliamentary System and after the Civil War dropped it.

Systems of Governance is not experimental. The Swiss' have been using this system since the 1800s. But come to think of it, you propose a system and it is challenged tomorrow and you lose only for another to wait for a year later to challenge again.

The Swiss' system of Governance will work in nations that have low Population, where certain things can be easily controlled. I believe they are one of the very few 3 or 4 Countries that use this system.

All having small populations.

By the grace of God it was published in a reputable journal.

While job hunting, it was one of my achievements and I got a lot of commendation from it. It helped me in getting the job I am on now!

We need the date it was public in the journal.

So are you saying we should continue with this federalism we've made a mess of?
Or what do you think is the way forward?
Note, in this system that I propose the center will be weak and there will be an arrangement for the rotation of leadership at the center.
Each region will be in charge of their resources. The center will only unite us in things like currency, military, sports and selected few

Maybe if you tweak the ceaseless referendum part & also like the Germans offer a powerful Local Government System, t will be an almost perfect system.

There is a caveat however, our Constitution is not the worst in the world instead we have consistent mischievous politicians. Do you think at the Regional or State levels, you won't produce more Emperors.

I most likely prefer a more rigid electoral and judicial system. Our Politicians do what they do because there are no checks-and-balances in the System.

If Abraham Lincoln wakes and writes a Constitution for this set of Nigerian Politicians, they will bypass it...so how do we punish those who do?
This is the biggest question for me.

Did it help you any way, maybe during an interview etc?

Don’t air me pls

Yes, mine really exposed me and it has fetched some cool funds after school. Because I opened my own company and made that part of the service we render and it has paid me well too.
A brief info about it " project topic : borehole water contamination causes and remedies "
It exposed me to
Underground water contamination
Recharging aquifer contamination
Septic tank installation and natural treatment through priming process.
Finally civil engineering is a beautiful course that pays well.

My final year project as an undergraduate was God sent, even though my project supervisor then was mean enough to give me a B at the end of my struggles, I still have him to thank, because that stress sent me towards the path of Geotechnics of which I'm one of the best in the world today(no pun intended). Even in my post-graduate days God himself steered my towards geotechnical engineering of which I'm a consultant today.

Never underrate the days of little beginnings. You don't know where life will take you tomorrow, because tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift(that's why it's called a present). Make optimum use of today.

How e go be useful when u go dey see project topics like- the use of chewing stick as a replacement for reinforcement bar in reinforced concrete- analysis of the pollution effect of dye waste water on self purification of stream- the use of soakaway waste as a substitute for fertilizer- etc the lecturers ll tell you not to copy and yet they will tell u that nothing is new under heaven and they ll tell u to come with new project topic. Despite all the projects these professors have undertaken, 99.9 percent of them can't invent new technology or make any discovery that ll help the nation. They ll just come up with one silly topics that even without practical, common sense ll tell you it wont work. u ll see something like - the use of oyster shell as a substitute for granite in concrete. White men no dey think like us thats y their countries are developed.

With your thoughts, you have shown scholarly inclinations. Apt, incisive questions!

However, your question of how to punish politicians shouldn't be restricted to politicians alone; it should be extended to all Nigerians. Nigerians devote more time to "beating the systems" than any other thing in the world.

Let's try something new. Let each region be responsible for their growth. Let the Yoruba know a yorubaman is their problem and not an Igboman, and let the igbos know an Igboman is their problem and not the fulanis.

A Nigerian is one of the easiest to govern. Tell me where else, you pay your taxes as due, yet still individually pay for security, for roads, etc.
If you tell a Nigerian, don't deface this wall, he will obey.

But then, he goes to the market and see the same politician who gave that order flouting the rules, he joins in the madness.

Something happened many years ago...In Lagos, the norm is once they cut off your power, you simply call a nearby electrician and he will fix it for you sharp sharp.

So I went to Umuahia, and the PHCN guys came up and did same.... Immediately, they left I called an electrician to reconnect.

If you see the way everyone attacked me. From my Uncle to passers-by to villagers, that they don't try that in Umuahia. I was shocked and everyone who was in that same situation simply went to the Office, paid and the PHCN guys came and reconnected.

In the natural way of taking one's bath, you pour water from your head to the toe.....If a politician is dealt with mercilessly, others will key behind.

When Murtala came in as CiC and was dealing with Governors even though some of those actions were draconian, what happened?

Everyone followed.

Thanks for the scholarly response. At least I wasn't mistaken about you.

Again, it depends on the philosophical question of which comes first, the egg or the chicken?

Your thesis of bad leadership being the source of bad followership is arguable: for instance, how do you explain Nigerians exhibiting abhorrent behaviors in organized countries with good systems and leaders?

Such abhorrent behaviors have set me on collision course with supposedly quality Nigerian minds even outside the shores of this country.

"The Ant that eats the vegetable is on the stem of same vegetable."

When these politicians dine and are on good terms, you don't hear anything. No Christian or Muslim, No Igbo or Yoruba or Fulani. The moment they fall out, one section is the problem.

Just today, we saw how an Akoko-Edo man built "Japan mudslide" for his people in the name of gutter. That project will not be used by Northerners but by his kinsmen.

Another Example, we saw the Kano Assembly suspend their Anti-Corruption Chief today for DARING to probe the first family in the State. Will this change, when you give a Ganduje for example Presidential Powers as Head of the Core-North in a Confederal System?

Tinkering with a system doesn't guarantee success. Politicians don't change, they will always be politicians.

You must make that system difficult for them to circumvent. That is where we are lacking. I agree with our making some amendments with weakening at the Centre, let's not make the approach total....we look, then leap, one step at a time.

I do not think even in the next world, there will be an answer to the chicken egg issue though but you have these things in every Country.

Tbvh, it is a mess out there. The stories I have heard from multiple sources do not show good upbringing. But again, for every truant, we have world beaters. Guys and Girls breaking multiple records all over the world.

You cannot have a perfect population or a perfect system. The value system has changed. Many even argue that things were better during the Military days.

There was more orderliness, discipline & patriotism. I grew up mostly during the Military era, our system now is all rot. From down below to up there.

I wish I had an answer to that. I am sorry, we call it smartness but it's madness.
