Hey guys
Please I just cancelled my appointment in Lagos and I want to apply to Abuja
But I already used my emergency request for Lagos.
What can I do please ?
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by dapsalmy: 7:24pm On Jul 08, 2021
Apply again first for Abuja, you should see another emergency request menu after application. You've cancelled already anyway, so apply for Abuja real quick and update your DS160

Please Fam....

I really need to know if there is anyone in Little Rock, Arkansas who can help me, I have explained previously that I got an undergraduate scholarship that only covers tuition and not room and board but I have sponsors who are willing to pay for my upkeep( which includes transport, feeding, utility bills).

If I don't find a relative or someone who will attest for my staying with them then I wouldn't be given my form I - 20

please once again fam

.

Brother, please forget this. No one is going to put you up indefinitely for free. If your sponsors are willing to provide for food, utilities, surely they can pay for a place for to stay. The school is just trying to make sure you have sufficient funds for daily upkeep.

Ok, as my other brother has said, go and pay another visa fee. Because this is basically the only route for you, you will pay another visa fee anyway. So if you have so much money just go ahead and pay another visa fee straightup.

Thank you all
My appointment was for 11:15am. But I got to the embassy by 8am. Many things happened but no time to explain all that now.

My transcript below

VO: Good morning
Me: Good morning ma'am
VO: Where are you going
Me: I'm going to Mississippi State University. (She started typing for about 30seconds or more)
VO: What are going to do?
Me: I'm going for my masters degree in Sociology.
VO: What was your undergraduate course?
Me: Sociology and Anthropology at Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife.
VO: What's your intent?
Me: (I became fussy a bit, so I answered poorly) My intent, I want to study sociology at the masters level because I believe it will make a me better sociologist. (I knew that wasn't even to my taste). Then she cut in.
VO: Wait, where do you work?
Me: I work as a data analyst at xyz. (I thought I'd lost it that point, but I still kept my eye contact firm with much less tensed facial expression)
VO: What's your intent? She repeated
Me: My intent is to go for my PhD in sociology after this course so that I can pick up teaching appointment at my alma mater.
VO: What was your undergraduate degree? She asked again
Me: Sociology and Anthropology at Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife.
VO: Ok, congratulations, I will be issuing your visa. She reached for the white paper, circled the pick up location and passed my documents to me. Your issued visa will be ready in five business days... I didn't hear the remaining part again jare.

I packed my things and left. Meanwhile she mistakenly dropped my passport together with documents, but excitement didn't let it occur to me that I should call her attention to that. I sha packed everything and left. It was the security man I greeted well on my way out that called my attention to the error. He guided me back inside and another guard led me back to the window where I was attended to. Then I explained to the VO that she mistakenly returned my passport, I had to show her my white paper for her to believe. She oh thank you, took my passport and dropped into the trail.

The joy that flooded my heart was like the deep water that surrounds the embassy.

I wish you all well I'm your interviews.

Not much of a talker, are you?

in my opinion, your responses were weak.

Try go through this thread from the beginning, you could learn one or two things about responses.

These VO's are used to these generic answers.. Why this school/course are the most important questions at the interview.. Take your time to read up the program in that school, you will find something unique, build on it..

VISA APPROVED !

This is my transcript as promised .Let me give a little background.I contacted an immigration lawyer who advised I cancel my appointment at the lagos embassy and apply in Accra,Ghana instead.Ive lived in Ghana for a while and only moved back recently and I hold both passports(Main reason I contacted a lawyer for the sakes of home ties). My sponsor also lives in Ghana and I’ve had my education and some work there.
I’m just grateful to God because it’s been 2 years working on this.

The embassy in Ghana is very very calm and no anyhowness like you’ll see at Walter carrington before entering and nobody outside asking to arrange your papers .The embassy is currently prioritizing only students so all the folks I saw there were students

Only 3 V.O available and no sitting from entering the visa hall until you leave so process was very fast

Stood in line for biometrics and continued to interview area

When it was my turn
Me:Good morning
V.O: Good morning. Please pass me your documents

V.O : Please put your hand on the scanner

V.O : What are your travel plans
Me: I’m traveling to the USA for my masters in information systems and business analytics

V.O: Who is paying for your trip
Me: My father

V.O : (Looks up at me)What does he do?
Me: (V.O Kept making eye contact from time to time)He’s a wholesale importer of clothes from South Korea ,China and the UK.He owns and runs a hotel and has rental residential and commercial properties some of which are occupied by banks

V.O : (After typing and looking at his screen for a long time)Are you married ?
Me: No

V.O : Do you have any children
Me: No please

V.O : (sticks a sticker behind my passport gives me a small piece of white paper )You can follow the instructions on there to pick up your passport at the circled time tomorrow .Come with a government issued ID
Me:Thank you

Just like that no document asked even though other before me were asked to show transcripts and school certificates.SEVIS receipt was not a requirement for the interview here but I had it .

All in all I only witnessed two denials, one from a lady who had a G.A but had been denied before and another guy who claimed his aunt will pay his $60k deficit .Another lady who claimed her friend in the USA will help her pay a deficit of $50k was approved. What they say about making eye contact is true.Look them straight in the eye even when they’re not paying attention to you.
Be confident in your answers (Practice in a mirror with your mask on)and go very well prepared and practice speaking audibly if your voice is low tone.Dress in a way that’ll help your confidence but don’t over do it.
Don’t offer any documents or unwanted information unless you’re asked .Fill your DS-160 yourself and go over it multiple times and know exactly what you’ve put down.
Don’t worry about denials before you ,your case is different and pray if you believe in it.

Hi, for servis fee payment, do contact Walspring, he is reliable as he delivered mine to me today.

1. When requesting for an emergency appointment, I wasn’t prompted to select any emergency date, just tentative date of travel.

2. How many days from now on average should I await their response and start sending reminders??

God bless all of our hussle.

Congratulations!!!
Please what did you fill on your ds160 form? I’m yet to fill mine and I need to be sure on what to fill. My 1-20 carries MGS (because of the school sevis ID) but I’m going for supply chain management. Was it supply chain management or management science you filled on your ds160? Kindly advice. Thank you
Ajibfo:
After I got admission from the school with admission letter and tuition, I got scared cos the COA has increased from 50k I saw to seventy sth or maybe I didn't get their tuition right when applying but they gave me scholarship of 8k. I applied to 2 other scholarships but was not given. Then I was told to pay 1k enrollment and tuition deposit before my I20 can be sent. I was confused like deposit ke and visa is not guaranteed, was confused but I later did.
Fast forward to interview
Date June 4 2021.
Time 10am I had to snap another passport there cos the first has dot or sth.
VO: good morning
Me:gm ma
Vo: you are going to *** for your master in management sciences
Me: no ma, I am going for my masters of science in supply chain MGS is the sevis id for my school.
Vo: ok, what will this course do for you.
Me: with this course I will be able to apply to major supply chain companies in Nigeria like Nigeria brewery and Nigeria bottling company and also I will be able to push my project am working on which is green supply chain, the impact of supply chain to the environment and it's effect on the environment.
Vo: have u travelled before
Me: no ma
Vo: who is so so ( my sponsor)
Me: my aunt, she is paying for my education
(No document was asked, just my I20, it was even while waiting for my turn I realized I forgot my aunt' statement of account at home. I was like should I go print another or just risk it )
Vo: ok I will be approving your visa blabla
I can't even remember all she was saying again
I just want to thank God, cos while I was sitted waiting for my turn the only thing I kept saying was Jesus son of David have mercy on me and he did.
What I want to say is don't let anyone discourage you, pray and pray noting is impossible for God to do.

Hey guys
Please I just cancelled my appointment in Lagos and I want to apply to Abuja
But I already used my emergency request for Lagos.
What can I do please ?

It doesn’t matter at all. All you have to do is to chose Abuja now and pick the next available date with that same MRV and after that you will now seek for an emergency date that is all you need to do.

Success Ahead!

VO: good, pass your documents

Me: passes the documents

VO: what’s your purpose of visit to the US?

Me: I am going for my masters degree in pharmaceutical sciences at Bleep. I am particularly interested in drug discovery and research.

VO: why did you choose to study in the US?

Me: the US is a land filled with great knowledge and a degree from this country will allow me impact the knowledge gained in a high position in a pharmaceutical company here in Nigeria

VO: why this school ?

Me: Bleep has an utmost state of the art facilities in their pharmacy department and this particularly drew me to the school this combined with the curriculum of the program.

VO: how many schools did you apply to?

Me: I started my application to three schools but completed only one

VO: why didn’t you complete the other applications ?

Me: I was the one paying the application fee as at then and I could only afford to pay one after the other. Since Bleep was my preferred choice when the admission came in I didn’t bother about the remaining.

VO: how did you hear about the school ?

Me: I searched online for schools offering drug discover and it was listed.

VO: Tell me about your study plan

Me: my masters degree program in pharmaceutical science runs for two years and the total required credit for graduation is 34 credits. In my first semester, I’d be taking a total of 9 credits and this includes courses on molecular biology, pharmaceutical chemistry, analytical chemistry amongst others

VO: what will this program do for you/ your career?

Me: a masters degree from the US puts me on the radar of top pharmaceutical companies. It would allow me to be licensed to work in research institutes like NIgerian institute of medical research and contribute my quota in drug discovery and research in Nigeria

Me: I plan to return back to my country and start applying to companies like gsk Nigeria , Pfizer Nigeria for the role of drug discovery manager and even NIMR.

Me: yes I did. I wrote GRE and scored 298 and IELTS and scored 7.5 band

VO: who’s sponsoring you ?

Me: my father is my major sponsor and he would be paying for my expenses. My grand uncle dr. Harold Demuren sponsored me with about 10,000 dollars and he signed an affidavit of support with my school to make this amount available for me for the entire duration of my studies.

VO: I can see that you have 10,000 dollars here stated as personal funds. How did you come about that ?

Me: like I said, my father has more than enough money for my studies abroad. My grand uncle after learning about my admission decided to support me with the amount. He sent it into my account and said he would make that amount available for me for the two years of my study as a little contribution to my studies.

VO: have you been to the US?

Me: no sir

VO: do you have any family/ friends in the US?

Me: no sir

VO: where would you be residing in the US?

Me: I already contacted the office of residential life in the university and inquired about accommodation. I’d be staying on campus for the first year of my studies. I would pay for the accommodation on arrival and that is because I want to see the apartment I’d be staying before paying.

VO: what do you do currently ?

Me: I work as a medical sales representative/ regulatory officer for a pharmaceutical firm in Lagos.

VO: do you plan to return back to your county?

Me: of course! My family and friends are all here in Nigeria. And I also want to contribute to help build my country’s health sector so I am definitely coming to Nigeria to impact what I’d learn in the US
