GRE wasn't required for any of the applications I made, so there was no point doing it. I simply narrowed down my professor search to programs not requiring GRE. If GRE was required, the research experience and publications will only be an edge.

Both of you are still saying the same thing grin

Thank you ooooooo boss grin. No need to argue sef with him any longer as embassy is soft now based on the facts that many are coming with full funding now that makes it more easier for people to predict the outcome so easily.

Very true sir. 100%.

To be sincere with you, I would advice you refire that GRE to get a competitive quant score of at least 160Q , as Engineering is very competitive most especially Elect/elect.

However you can search for schools waiving the GRE and shoot your shot competitively.

Good luck.

This isn't true please. I got 297 in GRE, finished with a 2.78 on a scale of 5 which is a 2-2, and I still got full funding. We have been told several times it is not based on GRE alone, they look at the whole package. I don't have a single publication but I had an interview with the staff that gave me funding and I packaged myself well and aligned my research interests with hers. That is all that matters. Getting a high score in GRE and having no similar interest with any faculty may not get you anywhere.

Congrats. Before you erroneously accused his submission May I humbly ask you that Do you have your full funding from ECE (Electrical Computer Engineering) ? If so, which school you got it from make we know cos it’s very hard to get ECE funding.

NB: It is your decision to mention or not mentioning the schools but very hard to get full funding with that your GPA and Test score for ECE.

You better not waste your money at all and cause a setback for yourself bro. How can you be going for your Bachelors again at age 29, who does that bro? Have you ever see someone here that got that visa approval at that age for bachelors. Be reasonable and be truthful to yourself man.

I will try it and I will get it. It's not my first bachelor's, it's my second. The problem would be if it's my first, and at 29.

V.Os are humans and not Robots. I'm only awaiting my EA to be approved at Abuja. And I'm hopeful I will scale through.

Thanks for ur advice anyways!

Hello guys, sorry to deviate from the focal point of this thread.

I wrote GRE yesterday and got the following scores:

Quant-149
Verbal - 153

Any hope for funding with such score?

My intended program is MS/PhD in electrical engineering. My CGPA is 4.32/5.0

Thanks in anticipation of your responses.

Tennesse tech
NCAT
Iowa state
Mississippi state

My little advice google academic key, check for available positions advertised there for students in your field and email the department about it.

The reality is that people would always want to argue against putting in the work required to get the best or optimal outcome. The truth, as you have mentioned, is that GRE is required for very competitive programs; the best and elite programs. One's undergrad record is also important (GPA of 3.5+/4.0 or 3.2+/4.0 if you can kill GRE with above 325). There will always be one or two who get into great programs without it (especially due to covid), but those are the exceptions not the rule. And these exceptions may have solid publications and Masters, if their undergrad was subpar.

Not yet. But certain they will.

You will get an email from them. But know this: two things are involved. It's either they approve you or they deny you.

Send them a reminder. If u have done so of recent don't do again, and pray for a positive response from them.

Hopefully, we will all be approved.

I like your tenacity. VOs aren't actually robots. Whatever you're going to say on the day of your interview, make sure they're well articulated and pristinely convincing (if possible have someone go through your proposed transcript, and scrutinize) With Gods help and your interminably arduous effort, you will reach your apogee.

Do well to share the outcome (if you want to)
