Avocado is like mango or anyother common fruit, just throw the seed one corner and watch it germinate.

How long before they start fruiting? How long is on time?

Generally heirlooms stay at least five years for fruits like mango, avocado and similar etc..
Then, Improved species some fruit earlier than stipulated time.

But then again, some can stay 7-8yrs before fruiting...I noticed that about some avocado plants.

The one in my place is taking forever to fruit...And I am losing patience to convert it to firewood if it refused to fruit this year...
Mango I planted same year with it, is producing fruit for the third year now.
