olusola2bello: Exactly. It's not strange to anyone that resides in Abuja. Right before taking off from the Villa till he gets to the airport, all roads are closed. Sometimes this can last for as long as 30 minutes or even more. It's not Buhari, it's the office he is occupying. |

I recall in 2015 during the campaigns; GEJ was returning to Abuja and the airport road was closed. We were in traffic and I exited my car and overheard some people saying “ if Buhari wins, this nonsense of blocking road will stop”. No it won’t!! Rather than use a chopper to the airport, they’ll make sure they block the road for 30 minutes at least to make you suffer! |

PlayMaker14: No dey lie unnecessary.. it happens in every country. Whether you like it or not. The most exalted office in Nigeria is office of the president and so it is for every country. Even if you do not like or respect the person in the office, courtesy demands that the office be respected... |

iamDrRhymes:You are talking nonsense. Nobody stands still for the democratic presidents of the world's most powerful Countries. We are not practicing democracy. |
Re: People On Stand Still As Buhari's Convoy Passes In Abuja by CSTRR: 8:30pm On Jul 15, 2021 |
seyz91:His position does not warrant civilians standing in one place until he passes. He is not a dictator, he is not a god. He is a democratic president. The same police that brutalise you during protests and in check points are the same police that did this. They don't know anything about democracy. He probably didn't even send them. And you are supporting illegality and rascality. 1 Like |
Re: People On Stand Still As Buhari's Convoy Passes In Abuja by CSTRR: 8:36pm On Jul 15, 2021 |
freeman67:No it does not happen in any sane country. The Dutch president goes to work on bicycle. Other European presidents do similar. Buhari does not have half their IQ, influence or impact. So what makes him better than them? The only democratic president of a top Western nation that travels with pomp and pageantry is the president of the United State, the most powerful president in the world. Even then, civilians don't stand still for him to pass. Stop pulling nonsense from your hat. 1 Like |

CSTRR: Yes it does. Every president once in a while will want to show his/her humble and down to earth. That the Dutch president decided to ride a bike does not mean he doesn't ride in motorcade/convoy. Fortunately or unfortunately it is what comes with the paraphernalia of the office he occupies other than how many Nobel prize he has won. If it were to be the latter, the likes of Achebe, Soyinka and co would have been the ones carrying the longest motorcade in. However, life isn't design that way. Every human being is special in his or her own way. Special is relative and dependent on who is viewing, who is being viewed and through which lens. No other person is the President Federal Republic of Nigeria than at the moment except President Mohammad Buhari. That alone in itself is special. I did not attached links for at first because I do not want to be banned by spam bot. I also dot know if you will have the data to watch it...but then, below are some link. If they allow am stay just go watch them and stop insulting people for your own Ignorance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeJi0WXsEtc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Chz0uzgd0ho https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmzB_hGscYI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWDXsyiXiVk |

Re: People On Stand Still As Buhari's Convoy Passes In Abuja by CSTRR: 10:40pm On Jul 15, 2021 |
freeman67:The question is not even the motorcade which is already too much. I am not even concerned about that. The real issue is that civilians were asked to stand still until lord Buhari has passed. That does not happen in any civilised democratic realm. |
Re: People On Stand Still As Buhari's Convoy Passes In Abuja by freeman67: 10:52pm On Jul 15, 2021 |
CSTRR: He not will ask everybody to stand. Ordinary the security and arrangements of the presidents convoy is not in his own hands. The handlers of his security do what they deem fit and necessary at all times because that is part of their own responsibility to the nation Nigeria. Yes, It could be very inconveniencing sometimes. But then, how often does he move around he even move around.? |
