Okobi has lost her touch she doesn't have those splitting pass anymore , she played the wing back way too much and didn't make her progress as an Attacking midfielder , dennerby was benching her for ajibade at 2018 Awcon opener , T payne is far better than okobi atleast on current form

You are so right!

Had Michelle Alozie achieved anything before her performance at the Summer Series? Or even Toni Payne? Or Ijeoma Okonkwo? Or Onyinyechi Zogg? But they sure have proven that they ALL have what it takes to belong in the Squad.
The Austria camp will help establish if Adekite is a fit on the team or not.
Worse case, it should help the Super Falcons have a more competitive substitute bench.
Wishing all the ladies the very best.

Payne had already been established before being called up, she'd been doing even better than several players we had on the squad. Alozie, on her part, had been invited to the Houston dash team before to train, play... She was not totally unknown, Houston would never invite an average player in the first place.

Okoronkwo and Zogg are not on the same same level as the aforementioned, but this new girl is a totally different case because she's never played at a decent level, has not been outstanding at those lower levels, either. Eitherway, let's just see what she brings to the table.

Non of the Ogbonna''s are a match to Patricia George, she beats them hands down in all aspects.

That would really be a breath of fresh air.

Laughing in Chinese, don't worry let's allow Randy Waldrum and his Coaches to decide..

For these reasons: Okobi has not improved since after her first world cup outing, Okobi is a bench warmer at her club- meanwhile Ayinde, her compatriot, same club player, is their club's most valuable player, Okobi is getting older, instead of improving, she's been regressing- I guess you've not been taking notice of this... Didn't you even notice that Dennerby had started preferring Ajibade to her?

At this time women's football is growing very fast, If you keep dwelling on the past, you'll get left behind; a player who does not up their game gets easily discarded. Any player that is abreast of the modern game should be preferred.
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 1:40am On Jul 16, 2021
But her team is one of the 12 teams in the 2021-2022 WSL, the league just below the Super League.
Leicester (Ashleigh Plumptre's team) just got promoted from there to the Super League.
It will be competitive for Watford, which should be good competition for her.
CoolJulian:

Talking about the new girl, I do not 'fancy' her at all. The girl plays for an obscure team, the level at which she plays is too low, I, therefore, do not expect anything from her. Payne, on the other hand, is head and shoulders above Okobi- that is simply the truth! Infact, if the coach has only the both of them to choose from, he'll readily choose Payne.
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Schemerkhiz: 1:42am On Jul 16, 2021
I don't even see any of our present fullbacks with such Speed and Energy..

She played two positions for SC Sand this past Season..
Left Back on few occasions and Majorly as a Left Winger, because they Operated with 4-4-2 formation

Adekite Fatuga looks technically sound, good in setpiece and quick too but very Small in size just like Glory Iroka.

Point of Correction, Thomas Dennerby never preferred Rasheedat Ajibade to Ngozi Okobi, it was just the game plan which also failed and it happened only Once which was the first game against South Africa during the 2018 AWCON in Ghana...

Ogbonna is the available one right now that's why... I bet you once she come back fit from injury she would claim that spot..

George Plays Left/Right as far she's playing from the wing either as a Fullback, Wingback or a Winger...

She is listed as 5' 3" - which is the same height as Ordega, even though Adekite has less meat on her bones.
Toni Payne is 5' 4", for comparison purposes.

Umeå IK recruits national team players - ready after a long process: "Incredibly happy"

Umeå IK strengthens the squad. The club has signed Nigerian national team player Glory Ogbonna, who has signed a contract for next season. A recruitment that landed after a long process.

- Glory will be an important piece of the puzzle in our team building, says Umeå IK's coach and sports director Samuel Fagerholm.

The work of recruiting Glory Ogbonna actually started already last winter and the idea was that the 22-year-old would join UIK before this season. Administrative problems stopped the process then - but before the summer transfer window opens, all necessary details are fixed.

Ogbonna is currently at a training camp with Nigeria's national team, "Super Falcons", in Austria and will arrive in Umeå when the camp ends on July 24.

- Glory will be an important piece of the puzzle in our team building both this autumn and for the coming season. It feels really good to be able to present her as our player after a very long process, says Samuel Fagerholm in a press release and continues:

- We strongly believe that Glory will be able to add quality to the team, but it will also require a certain amount of adaptation time to a new country and a new team with a possibly different style of play. Her experience from international matches will help her in that adjustment on the pitch. We will benefit from Glory as a football player in both the short and long term.

Glory Ogbonna most recently came from a game with Edo Queens Football Club in the Nigerian top league. In the national team, she is constantly recurring in the squad where she, for example, started in the back line in the country's three training internationals in June against Jamaica, Portugal and the USA.

She has also represented the U20 national team at the World Cup 2016 and 2018.

- Playing abroad has always been my big goal and I am extremely happy and grateful for the contract with Umeå IK FF. I have talked a lot with Rita Chikwelu and with some other national team players who play in Sweden. Everyone says that Umeå plays a technical and fast football with good passing games and I like that, says Glory Ogbonna in the press release.

When asked what her strengths are, Ogbonna says:

- I am quite all-round and can play in different places in defense and midfield, but I will give everything to help my team regardless of position. I like to train and will do my best to be as good a player as possible. Don't know if it's a strength but I really hate losing (laughs). The goal is to play with UIK in the damallsvenskan next year and I have a strong belief that we will succeed together.

Perpetua "Peppe" Nkwocha in Sunnanås blue shirt.

Umeå IK has a history when it comes to players from Nigeria where Rita Chikwelu played six seasons in the club 2010-2016 and then has been followed by Ogonna Chukwudi (2011-13) and Ebere Orji (2017 and 2019).

In the press release, UIK sends a special thank you to Stig Lindmark and Perpetua "Peppe" Nkwocha who via their contact networks made the transition possible. Former Sunnanå - also national team player Nkwocha lives in Skellefteå and has good control of Nigeria's football players.

- There are different ways of playing between Nigeria and Sweden and for a defender it probably takes a little more training in the position game. It is important to be patient, but I know Glory's qualities well and know that she will be very valuable to Umeå. I am very happy for both Glory's and UIK's sake and look forward to being in Glory's vicinity, I will support her in every way I can, says Peppe Nkwocha in the press releases

IFK Kalmar of Sweden 28yrs old Forward Ebere Orji

She's one of the Super Falcons forward I know that is quick but when she's running with the ball it look as if she's heavy and she isn't running but she is actually running fast..

Miss those days when she used to play from the Left Wing...

Last time she played for the Superfalcons was actually the 2016 AWCON qualification game against Senegal (Home and away) where she played Center Forward..

Though Thomas Dennerby invited her on a few occasion pro to the AWCON in 2018 but didn't make the team.

She just became a left back for years to come for me. This was all she needed, a team in a quality league to improve her skills. She has the physical traits to be a great player and now she will have the people around her who can get her there. I don't expect glory back in Nigeria anytime soon.

Being a great player in this day and age is really NOT about physical traits, but more of footballing intelligence. That was the concern I had with her.
Hopefully, she will embrace the learnings from her new footballing environment and develop that aspect of her game that was sorely lacking.
Good luck to her.

Just say u don't like her and move on. I already acknowledged that she is going to be in a good learning environment so what do you gain by diagnosing her with lack of football intelligence If football is not about physical traits in this day and age explain why Nigerian women have been signed to the Spanish league at the fastest rate ever?
