A whole General and a Director in the Defence HQ was assassinated yesterday in Abaji yet Abaji and all of Abuja is cool and calm today.

No mass arrests, no checkpoints, no commuters raising their hands to walk, there's no invasions by the military.

But God knows that if this man happened to be killed in say Abagana, by now the whole of the South East would have been on lockdown by the military.
Most communities have suffered worse just for ordinary korofo.

you seem to forget not too long ago your glorified USA designated Boko haram deadliest world terror group above alqaeda and Taliban.

So please stop looking down on the Nigerian military, with what they have since inception they have never dissapointed and am certain won't disappoint weda Boko or bandits or ESN etc

talibans are the deadliest terrorists of all. Nato, Us, Russia could not do anything to them. Go check how many soldiers have been killed by the talibans compared to their number. Put talibans in nigeria, they would have conquered the entire northern region by this time.

I chose to dis agree, the Taliban might be called a terrorist group but I see them more as a political group, remember they once ruled the whole of Afghanistan infact they were massively cheered into power then, secondly the Taliban is helped also by topography of where they operate, mountains valleys caves etc huge loads of them to hide in..

Boko is pure terror, a force only bent on destruction they too enjoy a little bit of aid from d society, also have sambisa and the Chad region to hide in, but Nigeria alone decimated Boko haram the Taliban I don't think has ever been wiped by USA, Russia, NATO, like we've done with Boko mind you we started the war lacking proper modern equipments to persecute asymetric warfare

NAF WINGS 6 NEW HELICOPTER PILOTS, ASSURES OF SUSTAINED AIR POWER DELIVERY

Operational manpower development in the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) received a boost today, 16 July 2021, when the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Oladayo Amao winged another set of 6 helicopter pilots who recently completed their basic flying training at Draken Helicopter Academy in the United Kingdom. In his remark during the winging ceremony, Air Marshal Amao reiterated the importance of the human factor as the most critical airpower component that must be enhanced and sustained for effective and efficient performance. This, according to the CAS, gave reason for the increase in manpower development witnessed in the NAF in recent times. He went on to state that these efforts are expected to place the Service in a dominant position to deliver on its constitutional role more effectively, especially in the light of NAF’s involvement in several internal security operations across the country. The overall effect of these efforts, according to the CAS, is that the NAF, operating in synergy with sister Services and other security agencies, will be better positioned to more effectively counter both domestic and foreign threats to the nation’s security and the wellbeing of our people.

Speaking further, Air Marshal Amao revealed that the NAF currently has a total of 195 officers and airmen/airwomen undergoing various training courses abroad cutting across several specialties and trades. He also stated that locally, there are 12 student pilots undergoing Basic Fighter Training at 403 Flying Training School, Kano, while 10 others are undergoing Basic Transport Training at 401 Flying Training School, Kaduna. He emphasized that these courses are aimed at maintaining combat readiness by increasing the number of pilots to man existing aircraft, including the 26 new platforms acquired by the Federal Government in the past 6 years. On the A-29 Super Tucano aircraft, the CAS stated that about 60 NAF personnel, comprising pilots, engineers, technicians, and other specialists, have completed their training on the aircraft in the USA. While encouraging the newly winged pilots, the CAS urged them not to rest on their oars as the feat they have achieved also comes with a burden of responsibility as so much is expected of them. He also advised them to continue to give their best to the Service and the Nation. Air Marshal Amao also used the opportunity of the ceremony to appreciate President Muhammadu Buhari for his unflinching support to the NAF.

Earlier, the Chief of Training and Operations (CTOP), Air Vice Marshal (AVM) James Gwani, noted that the winging of the pilots further lends credence to one of the Key Drivers of the CAS, which is to “Pursue purposeful training and human capacity development’. He added that the new pilots would undoubtedly further enhance NAF’s capacity for effective, efficient, and timely employment of air power in response to Nigeria’s national security imperatives. While giving the highlights of the courses, the CTOP stated that the Basic Flying Course 24B, which commenced from 27 February 20 to 20 June 21, included 3 phases: Basic Rotary Wing Phase, Operational Rotary Wing Phase and Conversion Phase. The ceremony had in attendance Branch Chiefs of Headquarters NAF, Directors as well as relatives of the newly winged pilots.

More of a political group? What is boko haram's aim - to establish a northern islamic state that rules only by islamic law. What is taliban's aim - to establish an islamic state that rules by islamic law. Using topography is an advantage. Same thing like how boko haram recruits nomadic travelers that know the sahara desert into their group. Taliban also exist in pakistan and have bases in pakistan, they've advanced into iran and tajikistan. I do agree talibans have a better geographic advantage but they use it to their advantage which makes them deadlier.

There is something Nigerians do not know, terrorism is not an enemy you have a final battle with and it signs a Surender or a truce.. terrorism has no national flag, a terrorist can be you, me, anybody going about his or her business daily now how do you totally defeat that, infact how do you totally defeat Boko haram when Nigerians are quick to accept propaganda pictures of Boko and cheer them on when the attack soft targets but insult the military when they accomplish feats..

NIGERIAN ARMY PARTNERS ITALIAN MILITARY ON MANPOWER DEVELOPMENT

The Italian Defence General Staff Policy and Planning Deputy Division Head, Major General Massimo Biagini has sought to promote a collaboration between the Italian military and the Nigerian Army particularly in the area of military courses and manpower development. This was made known today Thursday 15 July 2021 when he paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya at the Army Headquarters, Abuja .

The Italian Defence Chief disclosed that he was at the Army Headquarters to seek collaboration in the area of training and support towards tackling security challenges bedeviling the country. He maintained that the military of both countries had shared some commonalities, such as training of personnel in staff courses. He added that both military needed to take the relationship to a higher pedestal.

Responding, the COAS, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP) Army, Major General Anthony Omozoje, noted that several NA personnel have benefited immensely from the Italian military, in the area of training and man power development. He said the NA will continue to partner with military institutions and other stakeholders, in the unrelenting effort to totally defeat insurgency and other security challenges confronting the nation.

Highlights of the event were signing of visitors' register, exchange of souvenirs and group photograph.

The Italian army!? IDK if that's a good idea. Historically they've ALWAYS been the weakest of all 1st world armies.
Til recently their training and doctrine was held inferior by NATO partners despite good equipment. IIRC a departed Saffa had an infograph showing how logistically under prepared they were even for local operations.
In Afghanistan they infuriated Jean-Fraude's boys in a scandalous manner. It seems they were paying off Talibs! On departure they DIDN'T inform the French replacing them who were subsequently ambushed losing 10.

Taliban commander and two senior Afghan officials have allegedly confirmed that Italian forces paid protection money to prevent attacks on their troops – despite strenuous denials from the country.
